Executive Summary
In today’s dynamic environment, it is required by the student to work together as a team in
order to understand the coordination and team building exercises. Before starting work in a
team, group formation is the first step. Before dividing the task, we all had seated in a group
and discussed the task in proper manner. After the formation of group, we have divided the
task according to our competencies. After that, we have elected a leader in order to assure the
smooth functioning of team. There are various conflicts also arises due to the group exercise.
As per the tasks, we also conducted the meeting in order to know the idea of each member in
proper manner. Due to innovative and creative idea, we have taken the decision in a proper
manner.

Introduction
In today’s dynamic and complex working environment, it has become essential to work in a
group. It is significant as it helps in building the teamwork among all the members. For
accomplishing the better results of the task, we were asked to work in a group as it helps us to
learn interaction and coordination. In this report, how we all had maintained the coordination
and built trust among each other is being highlighted. How we had systematically divided the
task in order to get better results and know the ideas of each other is being discussed.
Group Exercise: Reflective report
Group formation
In our group exercise, formation of group was the first step. It was the time when the group
members as well as task that we have to done were decided. After that, our teacher has
decided our group from which we all were happy almost. Then, the group was formed of four
members, as we all are familiar with the faces of each other. At the same time, we all have
introduced each other. In order to make the communication easier and smoother, we have
selected a leader from our group (Harris and Sherblom, 2018). Afterwards, we all have taken
the contact number of each other in order to contact quickly in any case. Besides this, we
have also discussed some parts about the task that we have to do. I have shared my ideas
about the project. We were given the task regarding my cognition company. Regarding this,
we were given a 48 hours in order to find that freemium model is good for this company or
not. Basically the task was related to the business challenge.
Organization of work
The first challenge faced by us is related to complete our task on the given time. In the first
stage, we all have divided the task into smaller parts. I have made the Gantt task for the
exercise. I have analysed the case and search something about my cognition company. I have
found that my cognition is leading digital platform that gives the health tips in order to get the
optimal fitness. I have also searched that this my cognition also gives advice regarding the

work habits and good amount of sleep. Afterwards, the other person of our group has
identified all the possible issues that can be faced during this task (Richardson and Andersen,
2015). Afterwards one of group members has explained us the meaning of Freemium. He
explained that Freemium is a combination of two words: Free and premium. He describes
that it is used in describing the business model that offers the premium as well as free
services. This model works by offering the basic and simple services free of cost in order to
try some extra features at premium (Fleisch, Weinberger and Wortmann, 2015). Due to the
clear explanation, we all have understood the basic meaning of freemium. The group of all of
us worked best as we all have an equal right to contribute in the group projects. All of group
members have decided to conduct a meeting time-to-time. Before meeting, we decide the task
that has to be accomplished in the meeting. A certain set of questions we all decided as per
our understanding. All those questions have been discussed in the meeting. At the end of each
meeting, it was seen that is the goal of meeting is achieved or not. From our entire team
member, person who was appointed as leader were given the task to make noted regarding
meeting. On those notes, out leader write the ideas as well as decision of the group
(Northouse, 2017).
Work organization
Afterwards we have proceeded to the group assignment. In this, everyone was given the
chance to contribute his or her ideas about the problem or challenge that was given to us. I
have decided my own goal. The goal is to search as many ideas as possible regarding the
task. I have carefully listened to the ideas of each of my group member and then mentioned
all the ideas on a piece of paper for the safer side. By taking this approach, I have improved
my work a lot and come up with some creative and unique ideas. Group leadership also assist
the group members to work in better way, therefore, we have chosen a leader from our group.
The group leadership helped me in many ways. The leader from our group was responsible
for monitoring the work whether it is going in right direction or not. The leader was also
assisting for managing and understanding the interaction of group that helps in keeping the
positive environment. He also encouraged each one of the members to contribute for
accomplishing the task in better way. Our leader also made the information we all were
discussing clear in right way. After the gathering of idea, we have categorized them. After the
categorization of all the ideas we all have examined them. Afterwards we have chosen the

best idea among the presence of all idea. The idea was chosen based on their advantage and
disadvantages. Those ideas having more disadvantages were removed out of the box. In this
way, that idea was considered who have more advantage and fewer disadvantages. The
choosing of idea was done based on voting system. This system was chosen in order to avoid
the conflicts that can arise while working in a team. We all have asked to vote for their ideas
in order to eliminate the bad ideas. Moreover, based on the voting, we have ranked the idea in
high priority list. After the viewpoints of each of the team member, group arrived at such
agreement that make the sense to everyone. Our group decision was based on the input of all
the members (Levi, 2015).
Problem and recommended solution of those problem
We all have encountered various problems during the group task. When we were figuring out
the work and spending some of the time in deciding team leader. During the time of deciding
leader, our some of time was wasted. At this time, our some of the work was delayed.
However, we have understood that it was also essential for the smooth functioning of work.
Besides this, some of the members were taking too much time discussing their idea. Due to
their lengthy stories, some things were taking too much time. In order to address this
problem, we have decided the certain time limit so that this problem can be resolved
somewhat and we can focus on the major task. We all have understood the concept of various
skills needed for a healthy group climate. Each one of us founded the one skill by doing
proper research. I have found that openness is the essential skills for ensuring positive
environment among all the group members (Schillemans and Robinson, 2015). We have
elaborated the concept by discussing this skill in our group discussion. We have shown our
willingness to know each other especially of those having other background and interest. We
all have initiated some creative ideas, as well as different viewpoints. The other member of
our group has come up with the next skill that is essential. He initiated the self-confidence
and trust as the essential skill for teamwork. We all were also having trust with each of the
members of our group. In our group, we trust each other enough by sharing ideas and
viewpoints regarding the challenge (Hansen, 2016). The other group member has founded the
support as significant skill. By validating support of each member in team, it becomes easy to
achieve the goal. It simply shows the loyalty among members of the team and helps those
teammates who are facing difficulty. We have also done this in order to show the team

building and helping nature of each other. At last, respect was the most important skill that
we have taken quite essential.
For ensuring the better teamwork, various things are essential. One of the essential things is
coordination among all the team members. In \group work, everyone’s contribution is
necessary for getting better results. Having the right people in-group is also essential for
completing the task. We have started coordinating with all the members of the group by
initiating some of the exercises (Michaelsen, Knight and Fink, 2014). Brainstorming exercise
is also one of the essential element for increasing the effectiveness and coordination among
the team members. We all have searched the activities that help in team building. All the
groups have found that brainstorming is such a technique used in generating the ideas that
can address the problem and issue. This exercise is done for solving the specific problem. By
using this, leaning has developed among all the group members. It is basically done in small
group that is designed to generate various ideas about a problem. Through this exercise,
everyone has searched regarding the solution that we have to give in next 48 hours. This has
inspired my group members to bring innovation. Everyone had given their best efforts to find
out the possible solutions for the challenge. It is crucial for the group members to bring some
creative ideas for better results. Collaboration works in best manner when group members
have better coordination among each other.
After this, we all have decided that my cognition should use the Freemium model for their
app. It helps the companies to get the users very fast due to free services. If customers like the
services or product of any company, they will again avail it. Therefore, it helps in
maintaining the positive brand image in the market due to best services. At the end of project,
the thing that matter for all of us is we have learned how to work effectively in a team and
build coordination. Besides this, we also come know about different type of personalities and
behaviour. We have concluded that the key to its implementation is how team members take
the performance of each other and adapt to their situation. Really, teamwork was the essential
aspect of the success of our project (Chen, and Rybak, 2017).
We would not be able to get these results if we had not understood each other and helped
each other properly. Even though we have divided the task but we have often conducted
meeting in order to get each other’s idea. We have also contacted each other in case of any
difficulty. Because of this, we have managed to come up with strong outcome by enhancing
each other competencies, knowledge, and empowering the group as a whole.

Conclusion
From the group exercise, we have learned that contribution of every person in a group
exercise leads to the successive results. Having the supportive as well as right people is an
essential factor in the success of team member. In every group, members have some strengths
as well as weaknesses too. Therefore, in order to overcome from those, supportive
environment is essential. Group exercise helps in building the teamwork. In addition, it also
helps in maintaining and understanding how to maintain coordination while doing group
exercise.
