INTRODUCTION
Business is defined as organization or enterprise which is basically engaged in
commercial, industrial or professional services. Sainsbury is second largest chain of supermarket
which have many stores in across the country and the company has become the largest retailer of
groceries stores (Bizzi, 2017). This report evaluate about the role of HR, marketing and finance
function in organization and also examine the development of understanding of collaborative
working practices. This report also states about role of financial management within the
organization.
1. Role of HR in Marketing and Finance functions within organizations.
HR is defined as the division of business that is changed with finding, screening,
recruiting and training job applicants as well as administering employee – benefit programs
(Uysal, 2019). Role of HR for marketing function of the Sainsbury company are -
Role of HR in Marketing Function – HR has a main role in the marketing department of the
Sainsbury Company which concerns all the marketing functions including the managing and
defining of the Brand of the company and concerns the key areas what the company
manufactures or produces (Sharmila, 2019). HR of the company conducts campaigns for
marketing initiatives which are taken by the company in its development and growth along with
the recent trends in the market that are followed. HR plans in developing and producing
marketing and promotional materials which are needed by the company and in this process HR
looks after the social media managing and monitoring of the products and services which are
produced by the company by walking along with internal communication in socialization. With
this communication HR maintains the employer – employee relationship that brings economic,
social and psychological benefits to both the parties in this process the HR of the company
recruits the best employees for working in the field of marketing department as to meet the needs
of the customers.
Role of HR in Financial Function – Finance helps allocate resources to support Sainsbury's
goals, maintaining a balance between cost and revenue of the company (Valebnikova and
Kalinina, 2019). HR of the company hires, recruits and motivate people to advance those same
goals. This part of HR is organization's biggest expense. HR of the company looks after the areas

which include budgeting and managing for profitability as well as reading and understanding the
financial statements of the Sainsbury. Thus, role of HR in the finance function focuses on the
understanding of connections to the company's strategic vision, comprehension of the purpose,
and critically evaluates the shared value in supporting that vision.
2. Collaborative working practices in organization
Collaboration is very essential for organization because it helps in developing their team work
and free communication environment. While Sainsbury focused on collaboration in achieving
something big and keep active participation of employee. Here are points in collaborate working
practices:
Make a clear and persuasive cause:- Team members of company have provided mission of
organization to take part. Inspire the team members to want in taking active participate of
decision-making. If team members do not focused on their goals or objective which are being
assigned them it means that are all kinds of reason not for doing work. For making collaboration
among them, company need to clear them purpose, visions and value.
Proper communication:- For having proper collaboration team member maintain more
communication among themselves. Each team members in Sainsbury is provided with some
roles and responsibilities that they can hold up within team (Bublitz and et.al.,2019). When they
make sure their position each group member will work effectively and without creating any
conflicts with other members.
In environment of collaboration team member can come to understand what type of
responsibilities are shared between them. They have to share all information which either
changed or new decision are taken.
Develop team objective:- It is most important to measure the goals and objective on regular
basis. While working in team easily they can break down barriers and create positive
environment individual or collectively. After analysing goals what outcomes they have faced in
measuring and determine the improvement what should be done. For developing team motive of
work should be clear and specific task given to them.
Recognize, Reward and Celebrate collaborative behaviour – The corporate success consist of
incredible collaborative efforts (Paulus, Baruah and Kenworthy,2018). Team members of the
company often sit in conversation reminiscing over how it all came together whether shared

through video, newsletter, podcast, annual report or seminar which break down the walls of
individualism and honour the collective accomplishment. Attaching performance rewards and
bonuses to collaborative efforts sends the right message to team members of the company about
the values that are driving the business.
Encourage people to socialize outside of work – The company should socialize with co-
workers outside the office which opens channels of communication to create better
understanding and break down any walls of pre – judgemental or mistrust between team
members.
Keep promises and honour requests – Sainsbury should take request from a customer seriously
and demonstrate the work patters to the team in more precise and effective manner. When team
members and customers feel comfortable, and they deliver what they expect to the organization
business grows, relationship grows and so does the revenue in the market place.
Encourage innovation – For teams to grow they must be encouraged to brainstorm and question
the status quo in an open and non-judgemental environment of the company. Team members
must be coached and lead to believe the challenges and obstacles they face and will be overcome
and can then be more innovative towards the expected results.
3. The role of financial management in organization
Finance is important for every organization in developing. It is very difficult for Sainsbury for
working without financial term, and they have prepared the balance sheet which stares about the
profit and loss of company within the year. The adequate management for financial resources Is
quite important to be property and long run term. The term financial management refers to
effective and efficient planning, controlling of other financial activities and make process for
working organization successfully (Ghauri, Grønhaug and Strange, 2020). Considering the
significant financial function in Sainsbury, the demand and supply for professional have already
being increase with their skills and knowledge. In today's time it is possible for non-finance to
learn the concepts and terms about the financial management through various certificated course
which can be conduct either online offline.
The major role of financial management-
Maintaining financial decision- Financial manager and financial management play a important
for Sainsbury to handle their financial decision-making and have major control over finances in

company. They make the proper use of analysis in finance like ratio, working capital and profit
and loss analysis etc.
Financial planning:- Finance manager is mainly responsible for making planning for finance
and communicate them to various department of Sainsbury and also make the allocated
resources for organization. Manger basically use available data in understanding the needs and
rules of organization as well economic challenges in market and then prepare the budget.
Capital establishment:- It is responsible for financial manger to focuses on capital of company
and make the proper estimation of required capital for Sainsbury future. Determine the proper
capital structure and makes the different choices of funding the capital in organization.
Financial reporting:- In Sainsbury company financial management maintain all necessary
report of finance and prepare the required budget (Zietlow and et. al., 2018). They use some data
base details of company for future and planning organization financial services.
Managing risk:- Financial management in Sainsbury meets up with some uncertain risk within
their business as it has many stores across country. Financial manager plans budget in that way
for future they can face less risk and easily avoid loss.
Management of cash flow:- Sainsbury has important management of cash flow and working
capital to solve out with some operational expanses or risk in the future. Financial management
helps in tracking account payable and receivable to secure that have adequate use of cash flow all
time.
Allotment and proper use of financial resources:- Financial management helps Sainsbury for
proper utilization and allocating financial resources and make investment with efficiently and
effectively for organization which can be more sustainability, long run and earn profit.
Reporting of financial management as there are several shareholders that believe on Sainsbury
financial report for making proper decision. Shareholder of business are shared the financial
report of company, and they determine the buy and sell with making future report or budget
based on company data. In this case they need accurate data for making important decision on
financial report.

It is concluded from the above report that HR plays a very important role in the
marketing and finance department of Sainsbury company. The functions which are prior to the

areas of the company to which HR looks, manages, evaluates, suggests and concludes the
performance in both the marketing and finance function. The report also demonstrates the role of
