Definition of business
Business can be defined as an organization or a specific economic system in which the
services and goods are exchanged in return of other products or money. Business usually
requires a particular amount of investment and a set of target customers to whom they can sell
their outputs, for making a profit, business requires selling their goods or services in a consistent
manner (Laudon & Laudon, 2016). Business can be profit or non-profit in nature. Business can
also be defined as organized efforts as well as activities of an individual or a group of individuals
to manufacture as well as sell goods and the services for the profit. Business can range in a
particular scale from sole-proprietorship to a particular international corporation (Smith &
Wong, 2016). This degree would cover the spectrum of business IT from providing support to
various operations of business through the decision making of supporting managers. This course
would prepare me for various roles like business analyst, project leader, system analyst,
information manager, librarian or archivist and IT manager. This course would require
completion of specific set of the advanced preparatory information technology; these units are
then followed by specialist units in the field of business information system and a monitor thesis
of a research project (Schaltegger Hansen & Lüdeke-Freund, 2016). This course is in a general
form and would also provide me with the option for specializing in the archives as well as record
keeping or information science and library.
Why have I chosen this course?
I have chosen to pursue masters in Business Information System because it would help
me to prepare for various careers in the IT areas that are usually business focused like IT

management, business information system, project management, knowledge management or
information management.
Past experiences
From my previous course I had acquired some knowledge that would help me in this
course, previously after mu graduation, I had undergone training for improving my professional
skills in this field. I had worked as an intern in some organizations for the post of data analyst
and project manager. Both the posts had increased my ability to work in a group effectively and
with cooperation. I have gained several skills that would help me in pursuing this course and
relate the learning with real life examples.
How has the experiences prepared me for this course?
From my previous academic course as well as few internships on this fields has helped
me in attaining some skills, these skills has helped me to be eligible for the masters course. The
skills that I have obtained from my internships include innovation skills, in a particular
organization where I had been working as an intern, innovation skills has helped me in delivering
data to appropriate person and using various unique strategies for increasing the efficiency of the
project. I have also acquired some business skills which have helped me in maintaining a balance
between the business departments and information technology in the organization. These
experiences have helped me in acquiring numerous skills for this particular course.

Ways to ensure that the requirements of the course are met
I had checked in the internet regarding the skills and certifications required in order to
pursue with this course. I had also been through the website of the university in order to gain
more knowledge regarding the course and I had found that through my past experiences I had
acquired most of the skills that are mandatory for continuing with this course (Chang, 2016).
One more ways through which I had ensured that I have acquired the skills for this course
include communicating with the professors regarding the course in details and informing them
about the certifications that I have along with my internship experiences (Peltier, 2016). They
have suggested me do go through some more training and gain knowledge in some more
concepts that would help me better for this course.
Ways to manage and monitor the studies to a successful conclusion
The ways that can be utilized in order to monitor as well as manage the studies to
successful conclusion include ensuring that the captured data is sufficient and that there is an
appropriate time average, it must also be ensured that the monitoring methods are appropriate for
the standards; the monitoring of appropriate contaminants has to be managed as well (Kasemsap,
2018). A strategy that can be used in order to monitor and manage the methods include
determining various fields like the purpose of monitoring and management, duration of the
deployment, frequency of the calibration and ease of use.
How to apply the studies in later life?
The studies can be applied in various fields of work culture. They can be applied later in
life in the field where technical skills would be required. The studies can be applied where

fundamental understanding of various information technologies is required (Hammer, 2015). It
would also be applied in the concept of networking, system design, database design and some
more fields along with receiving balanced views of the uses of these concepts in the context of a
particular business (Sun, Strang & Firmin, 2017). The studies can also be utilized for developing
a good team along with maintaining a good team work within it. It would help me with my
course as well as in my future work fields.
The kind of goals would I like to set for me with regards to the course
Besides the core learning goals as well as objectives, the course of business information
system there are certain goals that I would like to set for me are as follows
1. Analyze as well as model the flow of data through various business processes.
2. Formulating plans as well as architectures for capturing, storing and retrieving
data.
3. Developing computer programs for supporting and automating the business
processes.
4. Apply various networking concepts as well as technologies for supporting the
business needs.
5. Aligning information systems as well as services with the business strategy and
then formulate the plans for analysis and retrieval of the supporting data.
6. Monitor, assess and document the effectiveness of the It controls.
