Introduction
 Information systems are simple, socio-technical, formal organizational systems that are
mostly designed to process, collect, store and distribute information across all the
functional department of an organization.
 These systems are composed of four things, those are: technology, people, structure,
task. These systems are used for various purposes such as: used to computerize
database, study and analyse all the information related to the organization, for
interpretation of information etc.
 This presentation is based on Business information system in which Entity Relationship
diagram will b drawn and explained of Library management system of City College
with All the entities and attributes specified clearly, impact of introducing information
system to an institute like City College.

Entity Relationship Diagram
 ER Diagram is used to show relationship between all the entity sets stored in a database
with all the attributes related to all the entities. An entity is an object and entity set is
collection of similar entities.
 By showing all the entities and their attributes logical structure of the database is
explained.
 ER diagram is completely based on representing all the needs of a business in order to
perform all the business functions or processes smoothly.
 In ER diagram an entity is represented in form of a rectangle and attributes are
properties of entities and are represented by ellipses.

Impact of introducing information system to an institute
such as City College
 An institute has various functions that are managed by different members of the
institute.
 According to the hierarchy of an institution there are different types of information
system that can be used by the organization.
 Today demand for information system is continuously increasing in various
organizations according to their business functions. Similarly, use of information
system is also required and is in demand by different institutes.
 For example in this case City College needs an information system which can automate
their library management system.

However, information system also has other impact on institutes such as City
College in various ways which might be beneficial or helpful or harmful for both the
institutes or for the investors of the organization. For the economic point of view these
information systems can either be helpful or not and that completely depends upon the size
and use of the organization or of an institute. Impact of information system are:
 It helps in automating whole business process of an organization. If any fault occurs in
the process then it can be easily identified.
 If the size of an organization is bigger than transaction cost of the information system is
much low and does not impact the organization whereas if the size of an organization is
small then it might impact the organization financially.

Conclusion
 From the above presentation it has been summarized that information systems are
mostly used in organizations to automate their business functions or processes which
helps them to monitor their business processes properly.
