1. Introduction
An IS/IT strategy is the planning document, which is responsible for explaining the
process of information system and technology being used as the part of organizational
business strategy and must be designed for the purpose of supporting the entire business plan
of the company. An IT or information technology strategy is a major comprehensive
planning, which can outline the process of technology to be used for meeting business and IT
objectives (IşıK, Jones and Sidorova 2013). The following report outlines a brief discussion
on the effect of using business intelligence solution in a furniture organization in Qatar,
namely Nabco Furniture Centre. The IT director of this particular retail company has decided
to implement BI solutions in their business. This report will be focusing on value creation of
BI with proper recommendations.
2. Discussion
2.1 Verification of Business Intelligence Solutions being aligned with Overall Strategy
for Nabco Furniture Centre
Nabco Furniture Centre is a retail furniture company in Qatar that had been serving its
customers from the year of 1996 and they provide their customers with world class services
and crafted furniture as well as accessories at the most outstanding value. This particular
organization has considered IT/IS strategies in their business for the maintenance of soft
furnishing products and for maintaining their inventory without much complexity. These
strategies eventually allow the organization in responding to change and provide them
parameters for any type of creative and innovative thinking (Sauter 2014). Moreover, this
type of strategic plan has helped them in communicating their business intentions to the
senior leadership. Since, they are involved in soft furnishing sector, it is extremely important

and significant for them to bring innovation in the work and even to increase collaboration
and responsiveness. Some of the new business models are also introduced in this process.
Recently, they have decided to implement BI solutions in their business. The IT
director is responsible for verifying whether the BI solutions can be aligned with the current
IS/ IT strategies are not. Business intelligence can be easily aligned with the several strategies
of information system (Abelló et al. 2013). This is majorly because it includes the software of
the data visualization to design charts. Alignment of BI solutions with IS/IT strategies is as
follows:
i) Smart Decision Making: BI tools would be helpful for smarter decision making
process and hence the strategies can be much effective in respect to others. This is required
for accessing the structured and analysable information.
ii) Smash Sales as well as Marketing Goals: Business intelligence tools would also
be required for smash sales and marketing goals of Nabco Furniture (Lim, Chen and Chen
2013). The sales can be analysed properly and the performance is being boosted.
iii) Customer Knowledge: The tools of business intelligence would also deepen the
customer knowledge in an accurate manner so that they are able to understand the demands
of customers. Since, they are involved with furnishing works, it is important for them to
know about the demands of the customers.
iv) Outstanding Customer Experience: The customer experience is also evaluated
with this particular technology of BI and thus it should be aligned effectively (Debortoli,

with process of BI being used as a Vehicle in Strategically Supporting to Maintain
Competitive Advantage
The business intelligence value creation can be effectively done for Nabco Furniture
Centre in Qatar (Chang 2014). BI is utilized as the major medium to strategically support
their maintenance of competitive advantages. This is because BI is effective to make better
business decision by utilizing sensitive information from various relevant sources and then
applying the presumptions as well as knowledge for building a precise business
understanding. It even collects, analyses and manages the raw data to make better
understandable information for the analysts and managers. Since, the core information is
being integrated for perceiving the processes and hence value creation is possible (Laursen
and Thorlund 2016). It could easily observe the business related activities and performances
for progressing and adjusting swiftly to make effective decisions and even to identify the
business opportunities. For this purpose, business intelligence expects valuable data that
could be developed from the data resources.
BI encompasses a wider variety of methodologies, applications and tools, which

to their customers. They have decided to implement business intelligence tools in their
business for the effective execution of business strategies. Two suitable and relevant
recommendations of business intelligence for them to improve their overall performances are
as follows:
i) SAP Business Intelligence: The first and the foremost effective BI tool
recommended for Nabco is SAP BI. This particular scalable BI is responsible for letting their
users to eradicate the guess work in the entire process of decision making in the business by
utilizing the data backed insights over the customer’s behaviour. Data consolidation,
monitoring and visualization are also easily done with this BI tool. It is being equipped with
open features of API and hence it has a highly configurable platform.
ii) Sisense: The second recommended BI tool is Sisense. It will enable Nabco in
collating, analysis and viewing data that could be utilized to make proper business decisions
and even to come up with few strategic planning. This particular tool even aggregates every
