Introduction
Every organization needs some rules and regulation to follow and those laws and legislation
need to be maintained carefully as they create impact over the organizations and their
activities. The government plays an important role in terms of creating and maintaining laws
and legislation. The laws are key to control and monitor the environment and in the business
industry, the laws help to control the business for the government.
Explain different sources of law and evaluate the effectiveness of the legal system in
terms of recent reforms and development. [P1]
Business organizations need law and legal procedures to be followed as any organization in
the UK want to make a profit and expand their business. Organizations need to follow laws in
terms of doing business and effectively let other similar organizations do their business.
Organizations need to follow laws which is made internationally so that the organization can
feel the taste of justice while doing business (Romero, 2001). If any organization gets
involved in illegal and unauthorized acts the law enforcement is there to provide justice and
to take legal actions.
Figure 01: sources of law.
There are mainly two types of laws. One is public and another is private or civil law. The
public law builds a relationship with the citizens and state which includes constitutional,
administrative and criminal laws for the citizen of different countries. On the other hand,
private law includes contract, tort, and family laws for individuals (Abbott, Pendlebury and
Wardman, 2013). This type of law ensures proper rights and duties of individuals. There are
other laws which are discussed below:
Jurisprudence: In every country and in every region there are some laws which are there by
the culture and the organizations are introduced by them are called jurisprudence law. It

involves cultural norms and regulations. Organizations must follow
those legal fights and customs rights (Priyanka Prakash, 2019).
International sources: International sources of law must be followed by the citizens of the
country and it is one of the vital sources which need to be maintained by the organization.
Like- EU's currency is traded within the European countries.
National sources: this kind of source which is national sources is mainly distinct by the
government of a particular country for establishing good environment and economy. This
national law presents the government law in which the government protects the citizens and
society (Abbott, Pendlebury and Wardman, 2013). There are other national sources of laws
which are provided below:
Legislation: legislation is one of the important aspects of the law that must be
followed by the citizens and other members of the country. Violating the legislation
can cause punishment for the citizen of the country.
Equity: Every citizen of a country has equal rights and their rights are called equity.
Even in the UK every business organization is served and treated as same as others
(Adamyan, 2014). Which means every organization has similar advantages.
Parliamentary conventions: In every country, there are laws and legislation which
must be maintained and regulated properly. The parliamentary convention must be
maintained and regulated effectively as it helps to create and form a relationship with
the government.
Judicial precedent: This type of law is not formed and created before. In different
situations and cases, the law is formed and the judicial body takes decisions according
to their logic and senses (Insider Insights, 2019). They make the decision and
announce them.
Different country has different types of laws and regulations which prevent any kind of issues
in the country. Every organization and citizen must obey those sources of laws to create a
better environment for the country (Adamyan, 2014). The government provides different
types of laws to make better opportunities for the organizations and their activities.
Explain the role of government in lawmaking and how statutory and common law is
applied in the justice courts. Provide a coherent and critical evaluation of the legal
system and law, with evidence drawn from a range of different relevant examples to
support the judgment. [P2, M1, D1]

Lawmaking is an intended process in which government plays an
important vital part. As the government has the authority to change
or make laws it gives him the superior power to ensure a better environment in the country
(Funding Note, 2019). The government interferes in the positive laws rather than the Natural
laws which are provided or made universal. The government influences positive laws to limit
business activities and other individual activities (Smithandcosolicitors.co.uk, 2019). The
government plays a significant role to share the countries business and control and regulate
their actions.
Lawmaking is a complex process and in that process, the vital part is played by the
government. They play a leading role in this type of process. The government must
understand the balance and create necessary steps so that organizations and individuals can
follow. For that particular reason, the government plays an important role. The government
pays attention in every sector and in these circumstances he needs new laws that are decoded
and analyzed by the government (Funding Note, 2019). In the lawmaking process, the
government provides decisions and permissions and other authorizations so that the economic
and environment stays stable and can affect an organization can do its business. For the
organizations, the government provides different types of laws and legislation to make their
business activities more effective and easier in the global market like- decreasing the taxes.
The process of statutory lawmaking is provided below to understand:
Bill: the government plays an important role in terms of bill introduction. There are three
major types of the bill in the country. One is a public bill, private bill and another one is a
private members bill. In those three types of the bill, the government plays a role in the public
bill which is presented by the parliament.
First and second reading: In this phase, the title and the content of that law and that law is
read in the parliament house (Chang and Webster, 2018). In the second reading, the law's
details are read out. In the next phase, the parliament member analyses and provide a vote for
the law which has been proposed by the government.
Committee phase: After that in the next step the bill which has been read and analyzed go to
the committee and they analyze the bill and perform different critical analyzing to find out
either the bill is appropriate or not.

Report phase: in the report phase, the committee gives the bill and
schedule a date for a new session to talk about the bill.
Third reading: Third reading is that phase where the bill is talked about and publicized. Then
the rest of the parliament member provide their comment and vote for the application of the
law (Davani, 2014).
House of Lords: In the House of Lords the new and freshly analyzed law is taken to further
analyze and consideration. The law is going to the House of Lords to combine the procedure.
Royal Ascent: in this royal ascent the members of the parliament analyze and accept the bill
and give permission to imply the law to the country.
Using specific examples illustrate how the company, employment, and contract law has
a potential upon business. Differentiate between legislation, regulations, and standards
to analyze potential impacts upon business. [P3, M2]
In terms of the organizations, there are some laws and legislation which need to be followed
to ensure organizational safety and security. The laws help to increase the safety issues in the
organization and the organization must ensure the health and safety issues to their employees
and their customers (Davani, 2014). In the UK there are different kind and types of
organization and those organizations have some certain level of laws which they are aware of
to follow. But some of the organizations are not that aware of the fact that the employee
health and safety is a concern to the organization. if the employees of the organization don't
feel safe it will hamper the organizational behavior and along with that the employee won't
work in the organization and also the organization's corporate image will go down as the
government imposes laws in terms of employees health and safety issues.
In the UK there is a various restaurant in one of the restaurants an employee who was young
and new in the job accidentally burned his hand by slipping on the water which was melting
from the ice creating machine (Ding, 2009). The employee slipped and his hand got into the
fryer where the restaurant fries their French fries and the fryer was at 365 degrees F. this
indicates the restaurant didn't ensure health and safety issues of the organization. The
organization must act upon the employees' health care and safety issues. According to the
1974 act the organization should have their equipment’s well-adjusted and provide training to
the employees so that this kind of things don’t happen.

For this carelessness, the young new employee got injured and the
organization needs to compensate for the employee (Emerson, 2015).
The organization didn't provide good training and development program and the equipment
are not in the right place. In a restaurant, the ice making equipment and the fryer are in the
same place which is not safe for the employees. The restaurant needs to understand the
impact and act upon that. The restaurant needs to change the place of the equipment's and
compensate the employee for this condition. And provide training to the rest of the
employees.
Difference between Laws, Regulations, and Standards
Standards Regulations Laws
Standards are a guideline for
a specific product, services,
and systems which ensure
the equity level, health
safety, and other safety and
effectiveness.
Regulations are detailed
information about the law
and how it needs to be
carried out.
Laws are government-
imposed rules and
regulations for specific
country or organizations.
Conclusion
The organization needs to be more focused on the health and safety issues of their employees.
The employees’ health and safety act understand and measure the effectiveness of the laws.
The government put emphasis on the organizational laws and regulation so that the
organizations can follow them and can provide safety to the employees. Different laws and
regulations are imposed on the organizations so that the government can monitor and control
their activities.
