Topic: Business Leadership: Three Levels of Ethical Analysis
Introduction
The Leadership forms an essential part of the organization and the dynamic business
environment (Rosenbach, 2018). With respect to this, the different members as present in the
domain of the firm would be required to understand that in case the firm wants to ensure success
in the long run, the right kind of Leadership is reflected within the firm. However, even ethicality
forms an essential part of a leader’s journey and in line of this, all the leaders around the business
organizations will be required to be the right leadership style and ensure that ethical dimensions
are maintained within a firm (Smith et al., 2017). Hence, the paper will be based on the Three
Levels of Ethical Analysis pertaining to the Business Leadership by making use of the Gibb`s
model. The Gibb`s model can be understood to be a useful reflective model which can assist in
narrating a scenario and describe the learnings out of it. Hence, through the model, the paper
shall be describing the understanding of the three levels of Ethical analysis of Business
Leadership and the feelings, analysis and action plan arising out of the same.

Description
In order to become managers in the future, it becomes very important for the students of
the subject, to gain an understanding about the overall concept of Leadership as a whole. With
respect to this, it is important to understand how the Leadership tends to work in the long run and
in a manner similar to this, it is also essential for the students to analyze deeply into the concept.
Therefore, we were given the task of understanding the concept of the three levels of ethical
analysis pertaining to the domain of Business Leadership. The experience can be understood to
be very profound in nature, whereby I was able to learn about the different levels of ethical
analysis. Ethics is often understood to be an essential aspect of the Leadership and the journey of
a leader, however, in line of this, it becomes essentially crucial to understand how the Ethical
levels are an integral part of the journey of a leader and in line with this, we were made to

analyze an article and made to learn about the concept of Ethical Leadership. Hence, in the given
paper, I will be reflecting on the overall concept of Ethical leadership as a whole and will explain
the manner in which I have been able to learn about Ethics and its importance in the field of
Leadership and the related domain.
Feelings
Although I have studied about Leadership and the related experiences earlier, however,
Ethical leadership can be understood to be one relevant concept which I had not studied about
earlier and hence, in relation to this, after the experience of the ethical leadership and related
analysis level reading, I felt enlightened and was successfully able to reflect on the overall
concept of ethics and its relation with the concept of Leadership. During the experience I felt
that, very often the Leader as an individual and as a representative of an organization is
understood to have a strong duty towards the overall firm and the objectives of the organization,
however, I realized that on a whole the leader also has a considerable duty towards the ethical
environment and the society as a whole and that the overall concept of the Ethical Leadership
can be understood to be related to the ethical concepts which are imbibed in a leader, the overall
concept of leadership and the ethical leadership as a whole.
Hence, I was thankful for the particular experience which was provided to me and am
very sure that the particular experience will allow me to view the concept of Leadership in a new
light. The concepts as present in the paper have been described explicitly by using various
examples. In relation to this, the author had detailed on the different levels which were
previously known to me, but their comparison and relation between one another was not known
and I came to understand about the manner in which the Ethical leadership, the ethical values of
a leader and the heart of leadership as a concept and as duty teds to contribute effectively

towards the overall concept of a leader and the manner in which the leader is required to carry
out his duty. Hence, I was greatly enlightened by the knowledge and was overwhelmed to have
learnt about the Leader and his duty towards the organization.
Evaluation
As mentioned earlier, I take the overall experience to be very learning in nature as it
went a long way in assisting me to link the overall concept of leadership with the concept of
ethics in an organization. Although I had the knowledge about both the concept of Leadership
within an organization as well as the concept of the Leadership as a whole, I had not received the
prior knowledge about Ethics and its link to Leadership (Palmer, 2009). Therefore, this prior
knowledge in the field of Leadership assisted me to understand the three levels of Ethical
Analysis of business Leadership and therefore, I was able to gain the understanding of the topic
more easily. The experience came to an end on a positive note whereby I was able to gain an
understanding of the overall concept of Leadership as a whole and in relation to this, I was also
effectively able to link the concept of Ethics to Leadership. As per my belief I was able to
understand the overall concept on a right manner because, I had prior reading in the same area, if
this knowledge was not present, then I believe, that I would not have been able to comprehend
the overall meaning and knowledge of the subject successfully (Palmer, 2009).
Analysis
During the analysis of the article as present, although my prior learning in the field of
Leadership assisted me to perform in a better manner and also went a long way in making me
understand the overall duty of a Leader in a firm in the long run and how the leader has a duty to
contribute towards the organization effectively, however, I was unaware of the Ethical dimension
of Leadership (Kreutzer, Neugebauer & Pattloch, 2017). The article undertakes an analysis of

Ethics and how a firm would be required to imbibe both these qualities so as to ensure
organizational success in the long run. However, as per my understanding, the article takes up a
strong role in explaining the overall concept of Ethical analysis and goes on to describe that the
ethical analysis can be essentially described in three ways, these tend to include the concept of
Ethical Leadership as a whole, the heart of leadership and the ethics as related to a particular
individual (Palmer, 2009).
Therefore, it is from this concept that, it can be understood that for an organization to
ensure long term success, the ethics and its understanding is crucial (Gallos, 2014). In addition to
this, the article can be understood to have followed a systematized format with respect to which,
the concept pf Leadership was explained thoroughly which was then followed by the explanation
of the three levels of ethical analysis as present in the field of Leadership. It needs to be noted
that, very few studies tend to describe these three studies in a comprehensive manner and with
respect to this, it becomes considerable difficult for the researcher to arrive at a conclusion with
respect to this domain. The three different levels will explained and were then followed by the
Conclusion which summarized the given article (Palmer, 2009). Hence, I had a fruitful
experience by analyzing the article and understanding the concept of Ethics in Leadership as a
whole. While analyzing the article, the other students with me can also be stated to have a
similar experience to mine as even they got their overall concepts cleared in this analysis (Palmer
et al., 2017).
Conclusion
Therefore, in conclusion to note down my experiences in regard to the ethical leadership
as an overall concept, I would like to say that my prior study in the similar field helped to
understand the concepts better. However, I would like to believe that had I attained an

understanding of the concept of Ethics prior to the experience, I would have faced no such
difficulties and would have been able to analyze the overall concept in a better manner. I learnt
that I have been an avid leader and have the capability to grasp things faster, moreover, this
experience also helped to gain an idea about the overall goals and objectives which the study had
aimed at.
Action Plan
Hence, prior to this experience, I would like to ensure that in the long run, if I am taking
up the overall concept of an article analysis in the long run, then in such a case, I will be reading
up on the given domain in a detailed manner, then in such a case, I will be able to analyze the
articles given to me in a better manner, and will be able to grasp the concept thoroughly. Hence,
in the future, I would like to expand my area of interest and undertake reading in a
comprehensive manner.
Conclusion
Hence, this learning experience of the article analysis can be understood to be a
comprehensive experience and exercise which I undertook. In addition to this, the use of the
Gibbs cycle helped to ensure that I am being able to note down the feelings, emotions and the
drawbacks of the study in a comprehensive manner. The Gibbs model was useful in
understanding the overall critical areas of the article and in addition to this, helped me to form an
action plan for the future. The model was easy to use and through this experience I have realized
the overall value of using the reflective models like that of Gibbs.
