INTRODUCTION
Management and leadership are major concept of business which need to implement and
work in an appropriate and suitable manner (Hammer, 2015). This project need to underpin by
management of House of Fraser which is one of a private retail organisation business in UK.
There will be various theories and perspective of leadership and management get evaluated in
context of diverse environment. Along with this, various leadership style will also determine by
meeting them to situational context. Moreover, management need to apply relevant theory in
their operations and its impact on team working as well. Such things will going to discuss in this
assessment for better understanding through reflection report.
TASK
Difference between management and leadership
Many individual think that leadership and management both are similar thing but there is
a vast difference between both of them. As a manager of House of Fraser it need to understand
the major variation between leadership and management in order to promote and support better
working engagement. This need to understand by House of Fraser properly so that leaders and
managers could perform their duty properly (Difference Between Leadership and Management,
2018).
Leadership Management
It is a skill which support to leading others by
creating an example for them.
It signifies as an art for managing and
coordinating various consideration in an
appropriate and efficient manner.
It completely emphasis on leading others by
providing right direction
Highly concentrated on managing activities so
that better results could be drawn.
They enable to manage change of a company Support to provide strength and stability
There are various theories get reflected in context of leadership like: Autocratic,
Democratic, Situational etc. where as on the other hand management theories stated as Classic
theory, human relation perspective. It is essential for me understand both these concepts in a
suitable and appropriate frame so that better and appropriate working could be done. In house of
Fraser, there is a need of more leaders rather than managers (Rosemann and vom Brocke, 2015).

The work and team required appropriate individual who guide them so that their working get
promoted towards positive direction. Hence, this section need to understand in an appropriate
and effective manner for making work proper and encourage stability. Leaders required to work
in order to promote strength towards target and working. House of Fraser managers need to
formulate suitable objectives and targets and define it properly to leaders. Leaders play an
important role to guide each and every individual properly and combine a team which enable and
facilitate to accomplish objectives in a suitable manner.
Critically evaluate leadership style
Leaders are the one who always support an organisation to motivate their individual and
work in a positive direction. It enable in gaining better associated results so that chances of
effectiveness could be maximise. According to the Wheelen and et. al. (2017), leaders always
support to guide their subordinates in order to gain better and appropriate results. This statement
need to understand by leader of House of Fraser, that there is a need to guide them whole by
suggesting how to work and in which manner.
There are various leadership styles get underpin which need to understand by leader of a
House of Fraser so that it enable to utilise appropriate one at the time of requirement. Thus,
various leadership styles signify as follow:
Autocratic: As per the Head and Alford (2015), such leaders hold power in their own
hands by not sharing it with others. They only take charge and responsibility of each and
every consideration. Such kind of leadership facilitate leaders to manage and deal with
diverse situation by taking whole responsibility by own.
Democratic: On the basis of Maier, Meyer and Steinbereithner (2016), several leaders
support and promote ethical working by taking views from their subordinates as well.
This will bring positive and appropriate working. Leaders of House of Fraser have to
promote this kind of leadership style in their operations so that better and effective
working get done by removing chances of issues and conflicts.
Majorly, these two styles mostly prefer by many leaders and House of Fraser have to define and
understand one of them properly. This will enhance and support to motivate all individuals of
workplace so that profit margin get increase. Out of both of them, there is a need to adopt
democratic leadership at House of Fraser so that better decision get encourage as well as suitable
working environment could be accomplish.

Management theory and its impact on team working
Management is required at each and every level of business. Thus, there is a need to
understand about appropriate theories which associated with management so that better working
could be promoted. Effective working of management made positive impact on overall working
so that better results could be drawn (Hammer, 2015). The various management theories in
context of House of Fraser are:
Classic management theory also define as scientific theory of management provided by
FW Taylor whom signifies that apart from punishing employees for their minor mistake
there is a need to give rewards to them for the work they have done (Management Theory
of Frederick Taylor, 2018). As a leader, a major and sole focus is to promote and
encourage team working as well as increase of production. Hence, there is a need to
provide rewards to individual of House of Fraser which facilitate an option to grow and
develop in a beneficial manner.
Another theory of management is human relation in which management need to make
more focus on working by employees not with machines. Although, it signify or
understand with this that people are desire part of an organisation whom support in better
growth and development. For gaining competitive advantage by House of fraser they
need to utilise all sort of individuals properly by resolving their issues and problems and
motivating them as well (Rosemann and vom Brocke, 2015).
Both these theories would be utilise by me in order to manage various task and working of team.
Although, it will made positive impact on team working because by providing them rewards they
get motivated towards target as well as with effective relation, they eagerly work towards right
direction (Wheelen and et. al., 2017).
CONCLUSION
It get concluded from the project that business management and leadership determine as
essential consideration through which better working get promoted. In this assessment,
difference between management and leadership get underpin so that both concept get clear out in
a suitable manner for reducing chances of confusion and duplication. Along with this, leader
need to adopt suitable style of working whenever it required or need. Although, by utilising
appropriate theory of management positive team working get done in a better manner.
