INTRODUCTION
Business operations refers to activities in which business engages in on daily basis for
attaining its objectives, enhance value of entity by earning higher profit units. The individuals
associated with the company are responsible for working on operations in an effective manner
for accomplishing all goals (Anderson and et. al., 2018). These operations needs to be managed
for which an administration of business practices are developed for earning highest level of
efficiency. Operations management is associated with turning raw material into finished goods or
services in an efficient manner for maximizing the profits of an organisation. Management
operations is basically the administrations of business practices and actions which are
responsible for developing highest level of efficiency.

Business operations are defined as and refers to those activities and actions which entity
engage in regularly for in order to achieve all predetermined objectives of company in an
efficient manner. These operations are are optimized to generate enough revenue for which
covers all the expenses and earning profits for the benefits of the owners and other stakeholder of
the business. All the operations in which entity indulge on daily basis needs to be improved
continuously for managing their efficiency and keeping them up to date in order to do so
company can perform few actions these are as follows:
Measure performance- The procedure of measuring performance initiates from goal-
setting stage. In other words, the company should develop some achievable objectives
with clear targets. Once goals are determined then measurement systems should be
identified by the organisation (Saucedo-Martínez and et. al., 2018).
Keep up with current trends- The external business environment is changing regularly
which created a need for business to be up to date. Trends keep on changing by way of
innovation, changing laws and federal or by changes in economy. It is required that the
operations of business are aligned to these changes for finding out new systems which
are more efficient. The efficiency of systems is visible by seeing improvements in
performances, reduction in costs, help in complying all regulations and law along with

Business operations is a set of activities which are bifurcated by the company into smaller
department. These units are known as functional units who are assigned their specific tasks and
goals, which assist in attaining overall organisational objective (Slack, 2018). These functional
units are interrelated and dependent on one another as the duties or roles assigned to each unit
are in interconnected. Few key functions of business operations are elaborated in next section:
Production- This business operation relates with changing raw material into finished
goods in order to make sales. This functions objective is to make use of all resources
available to entity, efficiently in order make goods and services which are for fulfilling
the needs of customers. The production unit of company will undertake all manufacturing
actions which are required for changing the raw materials into finished goods.
Human Resource- This business operation unit take care all the actions related to the
workforce of the entity. Human resources, personnels or employees are the main asset of
every organisation (Davis and Comeau, 2020). Therefore, the responsibility of human
resource unit is to manage the requirement of company of individual which are necessary
for performing actions and operations. Human resource team will bring best talents to
company that is man power who work with their expertise and skills and execute all the
strategic plans and ideas of entity and move organisation towards their ultimate goals.
Marketing- The marketing unit of business is responsible for making promotional
campaigns and conducting promotional activities on behalf of company. The marketing

Bentley motors limited is a British manufacturer who manufactures luxury cars and
SUV's. Basically company deals in automotive industry and involved in Engineering,
Manufacturing and Distributing of goods and services. Bentley is a subsidiary of Volkswagen, it
was founded in 1919 by H.M. Bentley and W.O. Bentley. The organisation operates in different
locations around the world, serving to higher segment of society such as upper-middle class to
higher segment. The organisation is headquartered in England, U.K. but being widely known due
to its operational size and its products (Myers, 2019). The company work hand in hand with its
parent organisation that is Volkswagen, as some of the cars and parts are being assembled in
Volkswagen Dresden factory which is in Germany. Bentley is a huge organisation, having
number of operations in varied locations and more than 4000 employees which keeps it in a
segment of large organisation. The company has number of operations and business operation

and contributing to overall objectives of company. Bentley is involved in production of their
products, it has huge human resource power, needs great amount of money on daily basis for

Bentley is an automotive products producer and distributor, which is a very competitive
industry. The auto-mobile industry is aggressively increasing and becoming more and more
competitive day by day. In order to sustain in marketplace Bentley needs to make changes in its
operations and make management decisions which can help organisation to increase their
productivity and sustainability. Few areas where such changes are made by the company are
elaborated below along with highlighting its management decisions and strategies adopted by
company.
Production- The foremost operation function which is present in Bentley is its
production department. The company is involved in developing and producing luxury
cars such as SUV's and racing cars. The production system of Bentley is regularly
evolving and improving removing waste and other shortcomings from the different stages
of production such as developing, manufacturing and assembling goods. The production
of cars was earlier use to be done according to the designs and layouts which are
produced by the car designer and technicians of company. But now with changing needs
and demands of customers company has started developing customised goods. It means
that the car is produced exactly according to the instructions of the buyers and their wish.
The company needs make extra efforts and changes in production system, the cost
incurred are also more than common manufacturing systems, considering all these factors
the cost increases and so the cost of goods too (Carter, Price and Rabadi, 2018).
Supply Chain Logistics- The vision of Bentley is to build best cars which are fast and
which are best in their class and field. This vision of entity makes it focus on its supply
chain and introduce smart supply. The company made its logistics centre adjacent to its
main supply hall. Ti resulted in 30% decrease in cost of part handling, also Volkswagen
being the parent company, it enables Bentley to combine its worldwide suppliers and

and productive (Michalski, Rutkowska-Podołowska and Sulich, 2018). Basically, Bentley
adopt streamline approach and keep up with current trends by working according to the
new and better ways of operations. Company also, takes care of their personnels, as it
believes in keeping and moving forward with the workforce. Bentley make and design
innovative cars for their customers and which are filled with trendy features and
technologies. Also, they make available customisation services which renders customers
utmost satisfaction as their cars are made according to their wish and demands. It will
make business more profitable as sustainability increases along with productivity.
Trainings and development programs are developed for employees for keeping them
updated about the current trends. It also motivates them to perform with their full
efficiency and abilities. Also, individual gets new opportunities to explore which reduces
