INTRODUCTION
Personal records and reflective analysis is a systematic way of assessing yourself with
which one can know about their own experience. Reflective analysis is the methods used by
people nowadays to assess the way they work, how they study. The present report will be based
on personal reflection which helps me to understand my own personal skills and professional
skills. Through this I will reflect on my weaknesses and strengths both. Furthermore, It will be
conducting a proper reflection summary with applying reflection cycle so that it will help me
understand myself and also skills to develop for relevant position in the company.
Personal profile
I have 4 years of working experience in the hospitality sector as a relationship manager in
Hilton hotel. I have set up my teams to provide customers service and also maintain relations
with the guests. With my team I ensure that the customers do not face any problems during their
stay at the hotel. After few years I become a great leader and provide training and development
session to all team members. During that time I have developed various types of skills such as
problem solving skills, collaboration skills, teamwork skills, delegation skills and also developed
my knowledge level. I am currently focus on learning new courses related to business
management at London university. My teachers and supervisors told me that I am very motivated
and encouraged towards my work which helped me to be successful in my career. I think I am
very dedicated towards my work and being positive have helped me to work effectively. With
the help of strong collaboration and communication skills, I can adapt my style to motivate my
team-mates, clients and other people around me.
a) Areas of business I am interested in
Hospitality industry is the fastest growing industry in the world as it provide large
contribution to economy and provides job opportunities to people who want to make their
professional career in this field. I am currently interested in a few business areas, the
main area I want to work is senior marketing manager in hospitality sector only. But still
I would love to explore in different areas if I will get chance I would like to explore areas
such as sales and marketing and human resources department. The reason behind that is
both the department is responsible to attract people towards organization. Human

resources is responsible for recruitment, training and development, benefits and
compensation. Plus, sales and marketing is responsible for attracting customers so that
they can buy things from firm.
During my time at university, I get an idea that these three areas of business management
is better for me as I have received a good marks and great feedback from my tutor in
these areas only. So, I decided to look forward and pursue business management studies
in these subject only.
During my professional career journey that is 4 years of experience at Hilton hotel, I have
covered different roles such as customer service executive, receptionist, assistant. I get
benefits during that time because the skills and experience I have developed in these roles
will be transferable to another positions I have shown an interest in.
The important skills which is required to accomplish my goal and to achieve business
objectives are effective communication skills, leadership skills, personnel skills, time
management skills, patience level and delegating skills.
I think I have few skills which helped me in my previous position and also allowed me to
improve knowledge level as a learner.
b) explaining how a potential project/placement aligns with my interest
I am interested in this area and business position because I feel my skills could help me to
achieve success in my career and I can see this business position is going to provide me a lot of
career opportunity as a way to contribute to a fast moving industry in the world. The reason
behind choosing senior marketing manager as my area of interest is I can develop my
understanding level related to customer taste, preference and current trends. I love knowing
people and talking to them is one of my hobbies.
I also feel that my personal and professional skills are well suited to the business position
which I have selected. I also feel that I have the knowledge type which is required in the
particular job role, so I decided to be a part of growth. Working on these types of areas will help
me to raise my self-confidence while talking to people and the best opportunity to develop my
experience understanding the requirements of clients (Chalkiadaki, 2018).

c) Personal skills and professional skills
I think I have effective personal skills which helped me achieve my career goals and also
I can use these skills to achieve organization goals. I am good at teamwork, communicator, a
good listening skill, time management and problem solver to support other people. During my
career I have improved my patience level and excellent team handling skills by listening to my
team-mates has provided me information about their problem. With which I have solved their
problems and offer them needs and expectations as well. To be successful, it is essential to work
productively and enhance ability to work with different types of people. So, I always focus on
working with my team and solve issues related to customers with them.
Problem solving is important when working in a hospitality sector because every
customer need something extra service. If organization and its team members is not able to serve
them properly the customers can move towards another option available. Due to high pressure in
the business environment, the staff members have to pay attention on every detail to provide
team excellent services (García-Martín and García-Sánchez, 2020). During my professional
career, me and my team-mates was lucky enough to win different awards organized by the other
universities. This was a great experience which helped me to understand the importance of team
work. By working with my colleagues I have developed my self-confidence and self evaluation
(tips to improve self-esteem, 2022). However, currently I am experiencing a lack of self-
confidence which sometimes cause inefficiencies in my work. For example- during meeting with
my boss, I was feeling unqualified to speak up in front of him, it was a very important meeting
for me but my confidence level was not good at that time due to which my boss did not allow me
to work on that project (Gibbs reflective cycle, 2022). During that time I was getting
presentations assignment, but I think I need to develop presentation skills. As presentation
required few technical skills also like using internet, searching online, setting up social media
pages, going through new websites and many more (improve presentation skills, 2022).
Professional skills
now I decided to learn new things and effective courses in business management in order
to develop my professional knowledge and skills. By using professional skills, I will be able to

become more eligible candidate and more employable for business management role in
hospitality industry.
Market knowledge has been developed through my experience working within the
hospitality industry and developing skills such as deep understanding about likes and
dislikes of customers (Chalkiadaki, 2018). During market research I have developed my
commercial awareness, team leadership skills, coaching skills. I have learned to keep
myself up to date about the latest information with the help of articles and blogs on social
media.
Creativity skills, managing people and team work played an essential role in most of my
job roles in the hospitality sector. With the help of time management skill I have been
very punctual and make sure that all my deadlines is met on time and I can deliver
service to my customers without affecting my work life and personal life.
The areas which showed up as my weakest skills were presentation skills and
nervousness. Along with this I was not good at taking big risks and this skill lets me down in
certain areas. From starting, I feel very scared to take any big challenges and risks, as I find it
difficult to process.
Regarding my nervousness, I feel this can be low at times, as it does not affect my
professional work yet. I am focusing on developing my nervousness through various types of
online courses by going through motivational videos, this will enhance my confidence level in
future as well ways to cope up with anxiety. 2022. With the help of attending workshops and
online classes, I will be able to enhance my presentation skills.
d) Gaps identified by personal skills profile and plan to address these skills
Lack of confidence is a skill gap which I have identifies by personal skills profile. To
find out the outcomes, I am going to focus on assessments and 360 degree reviews. In
order to address it in the future also, I will ask my leaders and teachers to provide me
feedback on my performance (How to identify and address skill gaps at work, 2022).
From which I will be able to develop my confidence level.
For presentation skills, I am going to do more practice and learn presentation skills with
the help of online videos. In order to address this skill I am focusing on attending
presentation by others which helped me to enhance my confidence level.

Assessments- this is the best way to identify skills gaps which helps me to work towards
my goals effectively. It is the strong skills gaps solution one can use to help develop the
knowledge level in the workplace.
360 degree feedback- another best way to address skills is to take feedback from
colleagues, customers and stakeholders (Fleenor, Taylor and Chappelow, 2020). Peer evaluation
also plays a vital role to develop skills and know about skills gaps. This helps me to get
responses related to certain weaknesses and strengths of myself.
e) Research skills
I have few research skills, which I think are my supporter and act as strength such as
analysing important information from different sources and critical thinking and analysis.
However, there are several areas I need to develop in order to reach my goals and full potential
work such as planning and scheduling before attempting tasks or assignments and brainstorming
particular topics before attempting assignments. Hence, conducting my project related to work
based learning will allow me to improve and work on my research skills in the future ( Huy and
Thuy, 2021). To improve this, I will be focusing on taking personal interviews, schedule meeting
with people and asking about their feedbacks.
f) Conclusion
To conclude, with the help of learning projects I can get the insight into marketing needs
and expand my skills and knowledge level further within hospitality areas where I need to
improve my knowledge such as accommodation and food and beverage. In the future, I am also
interested in gaining various knowledge about market situation and choices of customers as per
current trend. I aim to improve my areas of development/ weaknesses, so that I can meet my
professional and personal goals and also pursue my master degree from top university which
helped me to gain a good business position.
