Introduction
The personal development plan is also known by the name of PDP which helps in
developing skill in students and children in effective manner for their personal and
professional development. It is a process of self directing learning where the individual
understands the skills and capabilities and different sources are identified to gain the
maximum accomplishment in organization. It is an lifelong continuous learning of an
individual helping in the development. There are numerous skills and competencies helps in
surviving in the organization. The PDP is an course of an action based on the values and
reflection on skills which helps in learning and development of an person for future. Through
this PDP the individual efficiency and accuracy is improved in respect to ability and
knowledge as the person is able to gain new skills and knowledge which helps in the growth
and mental along with social skills are improved (Akhmedova, M.B., 2019). The report
covers the concept of personal and professional development along with the short-term,
medium-term, and long-term goals with examples. Furthermore the concept of personal
development plan is being explained.
Defining concept of personal and professional development
The personal development refers to planning or actions that provides enhancement of
one's personal abilities and competencies. It includes those activities which helps in
improving awareness and identity. Whereas. Professional development involves evaluation
and mentoring for the individual improvement through training sessions. In professional
development skills are upgraded to work with more efficiency in the professional life and at
workplace. The personal development is a part of human growth which helps in determining
goals, develop qualities and new skills are learned. In the professional development the
opportunity of education and training is provided to have the betterment in performance by
improving the individual capabilities and skills(Andersen, C.S., 2021). Theses developments
are academic skills which includes the process of learning and assisting person for their
future career. Both the development are essential by ensuring the knowledge of the person.
The PDP comprises of three elements- personal development planning process, personal
records of learning and achievement, formal transcript provided by institutions. Through
theses areas of development it helps in progressing career and can be formal in learning by
involving courses, internships or informal by attending seminars or conferences.

Describing value of short term goal identifying at least 3 personal examples
The short-term goals are those which are for short period and can be attained in short
time frame for say, within a week, month etc. In this small targets are set which is easy in
achievement and completed within a year. The requirement of resources and time is also
short. It leads to motivation in setting the long term goals in the most efficient manner. The
goals focuses on the self improvement, failure to overcome with other objectives (Bager-
Charleson, S., 2020). To achieve the goals effective strategies are created. It is something
that a person wants to do in near future by helping in time management. The time frame of
these goals is not more than the six months. The three personal short-term goals are as
follows-
1. Time management skill- I need to have the improvement in this skill by managing
the tasks in the efficient way so that it can be completed on time with its efficiency as
it is an important goal leading to success. The development of such skill helps in
managing accuracy in job by minimizing the issues and errors.
2. Communication skill- The development of this skill helps in skills of personal and
professional in the most appropriate manner. To improve the communication skill I
will learn new languages and tries top communicate with the different peoples having
different culture and background which will build the confidence. (Faldutoi, C. and
RochaiiOECD, M., 2020).
3. Professional certification- My short term goal is to get the several certified courses
which brings the development in skills and capabilities in the professional life for
future. The certification helps in increasing my knowledge and in getting professional
job in well established company.

examples
The medium term goals are achieved after the attainment of short terms goals which
are the part of long-term goals. To achieve the goals the time frame is of longer period
involving 5 to 8 months. While aligning these goals with long term goals the monthly
reflection is provided which act as a road map (Gower, C., 2020). The primer value of this
goal is to measure the progress which is towards the long term objectives and needs are
evaluated if any required. The medium term goals are required to be completed within a year
and helps in steeping to achieve the long term goals. To know the goals are followed on right

track evaluation is taken form time to time. The examples of medium term goals are as
follows-
1. Promotion- My medium term goal is to get the higher position in the job after
gaining experience by improving the skills. To get the growth in promotion I will
make the use of skills, knowledge and capabilities (Gray, R.P., 2019).
2. Career growth- The increase in competition makes an individual confused to which
they must opt career. At the graduation time, it becomes very importation to choose
the career path to have the professional life in future by developing the personal skills.
The career path helps me in getting the better professional job and best use of my
skills and capabilities can be made.
3. Heighten in salary- Every individual in the company expects of the appraisal after
working long in the company. The person wants the increment in salary by 10-15%
after acquiring the knowledge and skill. In the organization culture the productivity is
enhanced and activities are achieved in the effective manner.

The long term goals is defined as the person wants to accomplish in future as it is an
important for the successful career. It requires the proper time and panning for accomplishing
something in future. The long term goals helps in education and regarding the job. It requires
the multiple steps including the completion of other small goals on the way. The long term
goal can be career goals, financial goals, or personal goals (Kaur, A., 2018) . It is essential for
the person in its entire life cycle. The person mission and vision is defined which it wants to
achieve in future. Theses goals have the longer time frame more than 5 to 10 years to achieve
the objectives. The demand of the resources is huge in setting goals. The long term goals
examples are as follows-
1. Purchasing of vehicle- I wish to have my own vehicle which is my long term goals.
To accomplish this I will make short term goal of saving money as it needs lot of
money to purchase the vehicle of reputed brand.
2. Business- My long term goal is to run the own business of hand made chocolates and
cookies which I need to prepare the detailed business plan and obtaining the market
knowledge. To run the business I will make by use of knowledge, skills and
experiences that I have gained from internships etc.
3. Learning of foreign languages- This is my long term goal to learn several foreign
languages to have the proper communication in various countries and with different

clients. This learning will help me in building confidence and professional
development in career.
Describing value of a Personal Development Plan
Every individual requires to have PDP plan. This is used by the managers that
provides reflection on abilities of employees and opportunities are identified for the
improvement. This plan raises morale, provides self-development purpose through
qualification and new skills. The PDP is defined as the official record that employees has
needs for the development (Massimi, L., 2020). It is a practice of improving the person skills
which cannot be happen by itself. It is an procedure of creating the action plan grounded on
awareness, values, reflection and planning for personal growth within context of education,
career, or for self-improvement. This plan is usually an statement of one's aspirations,
strength or competencies which may also include statement of one's career and lifestyle
priorities, career positioning etc. It is an portfolio comprising of evidence of skills gathered
over a specific time frame. The personal development plan is an long term procedure which
offers the higher satisfaction and achievement in the personal and professional life of an
individual. The development of plan makes the person more dedicated as well as honest
regarding their goals. The plan involves different components such as what type of objective
an individual is aiming in their career life, current condition of goal, how performance of skill
is identified, in what time frame these goals are achieved successfully (Meerkerk, E.V.,
Neele, A. and Korven, I.V., 2021). It is an blue print of the planned action and in the form of
self-evaluation which is used in higher education and workplace. The personal development
plan helps in furnishing the clear-cut goals, betters employ-ability, performance, motivation
is increased and the progress is tracked.
Conclusion
From the above report, it is being concluded that development of personal and
professional skills are very important to have the success in future. This development helps in
furnishing the existing skills with the development of new skills and knowledge that is not
present in current state. The short, medium and long term goals are set for the development of
the individual skills which permits to attain goals within the specified time period. The
personal development plan helps in deciding the different essentials of plan that can be
achievement as development is always fruitful which brings comfort with the change in time.
