Introduction
Employee experience is defined as what an employee observe and encounter during the
course of their tenure in an organisation. There are both positive and negative factor that an
employee experience at the time of performing activities at workplace (Brandstätter, 2018). One
of the most important factor that plays an important role in a company is motivation to
employees as it help business entity to enhance their performance and productivity level at
workplace.
What does Motivation Mean?
In business context, motivation is defined as a procedure of influencing, encouraging and
guiding employees with an aim to attain organisational objectives within stipulated time period. In
addition to this, it is something that incites and individual to take action with dull efficiency,
enthusiasm to attain their desired goals. Motivation is mainly of two types that intrinsic motivation
and extrinsic motivation. When a person is motivated by its internal desire to do something for their
own sake and growth is known as intrinsic motivation. On the other hand, external motivation is the
behaviour that is inspired by external factors such as earning rewards, appreciation and so on. One of
the common and effective theory of motivation is Maslow's hierarchy theory (Breaugh, Ritz and
Alfes, 2018). This theory suggest that needs of an individual is arise when the lower level need is
fulfilled. This theory involve five needs that is physiological needs, safety and security, social, self-
esteem and self-actualization needs that vary from lower level need to upper level need of a person.
The various factors which motivate employees to work
Salary: It is consider as one of the major factor which motivate employee to work with full
potential and efficiency. If an employee get salary equal to the inputs they put in performing
activities, it will motivate and satisfying them with the wok and also enhance performance of business
entity at marketplace.
Promotion: It is defined as advancement in terms of salary, designation and other benefits as
well. In addition to this, it boost the morale of employees and developed confidence level that impact
positively on profits earned by company. It is determined that if an employee get promotion, it
motivate them to work more harder and put their efforts to meet with targets of an organisation.
Work Environment: It is determine that if an organisation provide positive working
culture to employees and maintain good relationship with them help in developing interest of staff

members towards work and motivating them to work with full potential to achieve objectives of
organisation within stipulated time period (Kearney, 2018).
The positive factors employees experience as a result of their job roles
Initiation and leadership: If an employee get equal number of opportunities to show their
talent and ideas then it leads to higher job satisfaction level. In addition to this, it also develop a
positive mind set of staff members towards company and also motivate them to bring out their
creativity level which impact positively on performance of an organisation.
Safety and security: Nowadays, companies take measures and follow all the laws and
policies such as health and safety law in order to make employee feel protected and satisfy
at workplace that assist in retaining them for longer time period.
The negative factors employees experience as a result of their job roles
Low wages: It is one of the factor that decline the productivity and bring down the morale
of employees. If the employees did not get fair salary then it develop negative mind set of staff
members towards company.
Ineffective communication: It arise when there is no proper communication takes place
among the higher authorities and subordinates (Sabah, 2020). This make employees feel not
valued and important at workplace and also raise issues in implementing activities in an effective
manner.
Strategies to cope with negative factors employees experience as a result of their job roles
Performance appraisal is one of the strategy as it allow company to evaluate the
performance of employees of regular basis and the provide them equal salary and output in an
effective manner (Barber, Klauda and Stapleton, 2020). Another technique is participation of
employee in decision making as it assist employees to showcase their ideas and communicate
with higher authorities in an appropriate manner.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that motivation plays an important role in
enhancing and increasing productivity of an organisation. In addition to this, it also assist in
retaining employees for longer time period and providing quality and on time service to customer
that develop a positive mind-set and enhance market performance of a business entity.
