INTRODUCTION
In modern era, it has been found that both management and leadership are two concepts
helps an organisation to run its business in a smooth way. A private company which has been
taken under this project i.e. Kingfisher plc and was found in 1982. A multinational retailing firm
that is headquartered in London. Most of its market share is in United Kingdom and have
thousands of stores in all over Europe. Apart from this, many sort of theories and views of both
leadership and management are going to get described under many situations (Küpers, 2016).
Project is also, going to put light on different leadership styles in some situational context.
TASK
Difference between management and leadership
It has been examined that people at market takes both leadership and management as
same. But if go through these elements in a detailed manner, we will find that they both are
different from each other and have assorted responsibilities as well. Being a general manager it is
essential to keep in mind of both leadership and of management. So that, manager of Kingfisher
plc becomes a good decision taker, which helps Kingfisher plc to grow at both domestic and
internation marketplace (Donate and de Pablo, 2015). Apart from this, it is also mandatory for
management of Kingfisher plc to train every single individual of squad so that they become more
effective in nature at workplace.
Leadership Management
This is an element in which leaders directs its
subordinates towards their own set tasks.
It can be understood as managing all the
activities that related to subsections of a
company with the aim of hitting targets with
much effectiveness.
Under this, supporting staff members is an
another factor which needs to be considered by
leaders.
Mostly, allocate tasks to subordinates as per
their capabilities so that they do not face
problems.

In this context, there are ample number of theories of leadership like Situational,
Autocratic, Democratic and so on and apart from this, some management theories as classic
theory, human relation perspective. Managers have to understand both of these type of
hypothesis so that better results can be gained in a shorter period of time. Manager of Kingfisher
plc, it is necessary for them to look into various aspects. Under this, it has been analysed by the
manager of Kingfisher plc that it is not efficient in nature. Proper training should be given to
individual so their skills and knowledge can get enhanced. By this, they will become more
confident and start dealing with consumers in an appropriate manner. Manager have also
analysed, that workers are said to be an asset of a firm and plays a vital role in context of
sustainability of firm. It can be maintained at marketplace if employees starts making long term
relationship with end users. For Kingfisher plc, it is important to have an effective management.
Evaluation of leadership styles
Leaders are the people who supports, motivate, coordinate and direct its subordinates so
that objectives of company can get hit in a shorter period of time (Leadership Styles, 2018).
Management of Kingfisher plc need to look into some leadership styles with the aim of
better understanding of working environment and these are mentioned beneath: Autocratic: Per Efferin and Hartono, (2015), a leader who takes decision by his/her own
without taking any suggestions from it subordinates or having a word with their
supervisors are said to be autocratic leadership style. Manager found that under this,
leaders stays motivated and confident enough which makes them able to form
considerations also, their staff members will have to follow the determination which they
have made.
Democratic: On the basis of Mittal and Dhar, (2015), situation in which leaders
formulate plans by taking suggestions from their employees can be known as democratic
sort of leadership style. Giving opportunity to an individual to give his/her own views
may lead a leader to take much more effective decisions for the company. In this,
compensation with the motive of motivating can be given under this to workers for their

extra works or for their support that they have given. Manager have found that this sort of
leadership style can make better environment at workplace than any other.
Most of the time, firms leaders uses these type of leadership styles only. Thus, it is
necessary to understand them in a proper way so that manager of Kingfisher plc can put them in
situations where it is important at the moment. In context of Kingfisher plc, managers have
found that they are using democratic styles which is good for them. But, in some situations they
have to understand that autocratic style of leadership is much effective than democratic.
Management theory and its impact on team working
Management have located that, it is much required to have an effective management at
every single subsection of a company. Away from this, there are some theories as well of
administration which need to be considered in an appropriate sort of manner so that effective
plans can get executed in an appropriate sort of manner (Xi and et. al., 2015). Some theories in
this context which need to be understand by managers are as follows: Classic management theory: Under this, in place of punishment, reinforcement should
be given to employees for mistakes that they have done. Manager should locate
techniques through which skills and knowledge can be increased of my subordinate to
make them more effective and efficient at workplace.
Theory of human relation: In this type of hypothesis, managing people have to
understand that for over
all development of organisation it is essential for management to work more with staff member
rather than machines. With the help of this, long term relations can be maintained with
customers.
CONCLUSION
It has been summarised, in above mentioned assignment is that both management and
leadership differs from each other but work for same thing and that is bettering the market share
of company. It has also been concluded that, both leaders and management at workplace should
work in a proper way so that no issues can hamper situations within an organisation. Away from
this, managers should apply theories in their working as per demand of their objectives and on
the other hand, leaders should try to adapt different styles as per requirements.
