There are several resources which could be used within teaching and learning, which
provide support while teaching the students in relation to the specialist area of an
individual. In this respect, Business Management has been opted as the specialist are
and there are several tangible and intangible resources whose purposes are explained
further.
Introduction

Purposes of Teaching Resources:
 Visual Prompts: These are prominent resources for teachers and their purpose is to
help the learners in visualizing the aspects that are being taught and further
ensuring responses on the basis of the visual elements displayed. For example, a
management model diagram could be displayed which would allow the teacher to
acquire different responses from students about their understanding of the factors.
This include PowerPoint presentations and Worksheets.
Explanation of purposes of resources in teaching
and learning

 ICT Skills: These skills are very much effective in current time to ensure
better teaching with the help of technology. Thus, information associated
with Information Communications and Technologies satisfies the purpose
of a high-tech teaching provided by teachers. For instance, a particular
business management tool could be explained by developing a digital
model of its implementation in the company.

 Learning Styles: Different students acquire and assess technologies differently.
Thus, these resources help in ensuring that information related to the specialist are
is interpreted effectively and accurately by students.
 Independent Learning: Learning must be facilitated in ways where independent
acquisition and learning must be promoted. This resource satisfies purpose of
gaining high quality focus and enhancement of student learning approaches that

There are several ways through which the resources could be classified and stored. Some

Ways to Classify:
 Logical Classification System: One way to appropriately classify data is related to
develop a logical classification system, where the data would be segregated based on
classes or subjects.
 Catalogues: Different catalogues could be formulated based on curriculum being
followed by the FE college in relation to segregating the course based on the yearly
usage.

Ways to Store:
 Central Resource Bank: One way in which data could be stored related to the
specialist area, i.e., business management is related to creation of a central resource
bank, which would act as a cloud system for data storage and retrieving.
 Security: Security is another factor within data storage. For this purpose, the
college would be providing limited access to information by installing password
encrypted safety management system.

There are several strengths and weaknesses that are associated with personal competence
associated with the specialist area. In perspective of Business Management, which
is a prominent specialist area, below are my several strengths and areas of
improvement:
Strength:
 Use of effective tools: I am quite effective in relation to using easy tools and
method for visual prompts, such as worksheets and PowerPoint Presentations,
which are effective enough in relation to supporting the teaching by making it
simpler for students to understand.
Identification of own strengths and areas of
improvement

 Impact Awareness: All the methods which I implement are assessed beforehand by
me in order to determine what impact they would have on the students, which is
yet another strength I possess.
Area of Improvement:
 IT Skills: While I am very good at the traditional teaching part, I am yet to develop
my competence where several IT skills are considered, as I find it complex to work
on different software which are necessary to adapt with modern teaching methods.

 Blended Learning: I tend to be quite rigid when it comes to teaching, as there are
only few methods within which I am expert. Hence, there is a high complexity
level towards blended learning and adoption of processes related to the same.

Hence, assessment of teaching and learning resources, along with classification and storage
of information is necessary to ensure high quality teaching. Moreover, identifying personal
strengths and weaknesses allows individuals towards better assessment of their capabilities
and limitation, which enhances the scope for further improvement.
