Introduction
Wilson Brothers Limited is a Canadian company that makes baked food products and also bottle drinks.
Being appointed as a director of the company, an analysis is to be done on different aspects of the
organisation. Bob and John Wilson has asked to prepare a summary report.
1. Organisational Design and Structure
Due to the globalisation, Wilson brothers start paying attention towards their products and their competitors.
The functions and roles of employees were changed towards the new objectives of the organisation. It
resulted in lack of proper organisation design. To help out this issue, functional structure of organisation
design must be followed by Wilson Brothers by dividing different groups according to the skills and
expertise.
2. Job Design
Job Design is a process of assigning the tasks and duties to right person. In Wilson Brothers, there was a
lack of job design. Which may sometimes create problems. Designing jobs according to employees lead in
increase of motivation among them. So, it is an important factor to give an ultimate job structure to solve
decisions of who, when, why, where what.
3. Decision Making
In Wilson Brothers, all major decisions were taken by the brothers itself. Taking all decisions on their own
led to a quick solution. But sometimes quickly taken decisions led to a failure. So, the brothers must
consider all the aspects related to the situation. For this a rational model of decision making can be followed.
In it, a proper analysis is done before taking any decision and then the chosen action is communicated to all
concern persons.
4. Equity
In Wilson Brothers company, there is many issues related to the fair behaviour towards employees. There is
a lack of equal treatment and salaries for same positions are also distributed unfair. This leads to a lack of
motivation among employees. The company should be capable in managing diversity and equality among
employees. Through the application of capabilities approach, every employee can be given a fair chance
according to his skills and knowledge.
5. Organisation Culture
A strong culture prevails in Wilson Brothers Company. All employees follow similar beliefs and values that
results in an increased work performance. It also helps in building a strong team. But sometimes, the
employees start working according to their own ways without being care of organisation norms. So it is very
important to improve culture in company. This can be done by creating transparency, reward in public,
making collaborations etc.

6. Organisational Change
Currently, Wilson Brothers Limited has expanded its business to western united states which resulted in a
very high profit. The company is growing at a faster speed. But with time changes, customers requirements
and preferences also change. So, it was important for two brothers to always cope up with the changing
requirements. For this, Lewin’s change theory can be applied in which 3 stages are followed, 1. Unfreeze, 2.
Change, 3. Refreeze
7. Work Groups/Teams
There is a good team work in Wilson Brothers Limited. This team work leads to a high profit. But both the
brothers do meetings only with the two groups which they find important. They should get more involved in
meetings with their all employees. This creates a sense of interaction and belongingness among the
employees. A team effectiveness model should be followed by the company to increase trust, task, teaming
and talent.
8. Conflict
In Wilson Brothers Limited, there is no specific policies related to the issues between employee and owners
or among employees. Any employee can be get terminated if any conflict happens. A fair chance should be
given to every employee to make clarifications. For this purpose, a collaborative approach must be followed.
In this manager shows a high cooperation from their side to solve such issues.
9. Leadership Style
Both the brothers have not decided anything that what will happen after their retirement as who will lead the
company. This can create a huge damage for the company as everything is decided by them only and there
are no managers in company. For this, both brothers must prepare a post in the company for a leader who
can lead the organisation. This will be very helpful for the future of company. Leader can be changed time
to time, and all will follow the predetermined path to work.
10. Power, Influence and Motivation
The two brothers hold all power and rights in Wilson Brothers Limited. They have all the rights to take any
decision in company. This creates a sense of fear among employees. They think that they can be fired
whenever the boss finds any issue in them. To solve this problem, a specific policy must be prepared that
provides security to employees. This can be done by making a legal contract with employees.
Conclusion
The Wilson Brother Limited can be the top company globally as it has a great potential. As I have analysed
through the report that both brothers must pay attention towards the Human Resource Management of the
company.
