INTRODUCTION
In the era of stiff competition between different companies, it is essential for a business
entity to focus on developing motivation. The application of motivation helps all employees of
the organisation to increase their ability to perform a particular work. Motivation in recent times,
is considered as a major factor which is helpful in increasing mental strength and emotional
intelligence in employees. This project includes a case study related to Pret a manger which is
major sandwich shop that is based in United Kingdom. In this report various theories and ways
to develop motivation in different employees is also explained in a well- defined manner in
relation to pret a manager Sandwich hub (Alessa, 2021).

A brief description of motivation
Motivation is considered as major force which helps a company to increase the inner
strength and morale in employees. The motivation is also termed as a key factor which also
increases will power of employees in order to perform major operations and functions of the
company. In the era of stiff competition between different companies, it is essential for pret a
manager to focus on developing precise motivation in employees for long term development. In
the recent times, most of the successful companies in international and national marketplace
focus on development of motivation for achievement of long and short term organisational goals
(Bastons, Mas, and Rey, 2017).

Two major theories of motivation
In the field or area of motivation there are major theories and approaches that help a
company to focus on employee development. It is most important for a Pret a manager to
develop motivation on regular basis for achievement of performance related goals and
objectives. The main focus of motivation is on increasing mental strength in employees for long
term success of company. Two major theories of motivation which are used at Pret a manager
are explained below:
Maslow need hierarchy theory- This is a universally adopted approach in the field of
motivation which includes, development of a precise approach. In other words, this
theory states that it is essential for a company to focus on implementation of Maslow
need theory to understand basic needs of employees. In the functioning of a business at
the marketplace, this theory is mainly useful in development and satisfaction of whole
employees. The major needs are safety, social and self-esteem, which are developed with
the help and support of this theory to grow at the marketplace (Jensen, 2018).
Vroom’s expectancy theory- The Vroom’s theory is helpful for a company in order to
increase motivation and performance in employees. This theory is also majorly related to
develop focus on different needs of employees by providing them fair rewards. In this
theory monetary and non- monetary rewards are presented by the company in order to
regularly motivate employees.
Application of theory on Pret a manager
Pret a manager is a major sandwich shop, which is spread all across the UK and one of the
major leading companies in fast food cafe. Human resource management of Pret a manager is
developing a major approach in order to apply best motivation theory. The company uses
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory to develop a good and systematic motivation in different
employees. The company is regularly focusing on developing key factors of motivation in the
functions by understanding personal needs of employees. Pret a manager also follow
employment legislations in order to understand safety of employees. The company also follows
equality laws in a well-defined manner for overall growth and expansion of whole business. Pret
a manager also applies the concept of Maslow theory in order to provide good development of
internal environment. Company is actively involved in development of a systematic approach
with the help of this theory to increase productivity of employees. This theory is also helpful in

management of a company is also dedicated to maintain precise culture in the organisation for its
long term growth. The Pret a manager company has hired professional and skilled workers in
human resource management for business development. Also the company is focusing on key
parameters of HR development in order to gain competitive advantage (Ramos Salazar, 2018).
All major companies in the domestic and global marketplace focus on development of
systematic human resource management policy and plans for development of a precise
framework. The business entity should take into consideration, application of human resource
management in order to lead the marketplace. Effective recruitment and selection practices are
developed by HR management which helps in providing right type of employees who are fit for
the job. This also helps a company to focus on key objectives and goals which are formulated by
Pret a manager at the starting of a financial year. In order to develop systematic operations at the
marketplace, it is compulsory for a company to focus on key development areas of different
employees (Štefko, Fedorko, and Nastišin, 2021).
The human resource management of a company is also responsible for managing key
employees and their performance for overall development of the business entity. In the era of
stiff competition between different companies, it is essential for a business entity to focus on HR

to manage and develop focus on building motivation in employees.
