Running a Data center
Transcript
First slide: The first slide is the introductory slide. The presentation deals with running of a
data center. Various aspects of data centers and condition should be followed while running a
data center. The aspects are properly discussed in the presentation.
Second slide: The second provides an overview of the data centers. The data centers are the
places where the devices are kept and it has various systems such as cooling power and
humidity control systems. The servers are also kept in the data centers
Slide 3: The third slide discusses about various aspects of a data center. There are various
aspects of running a data center. It includes location, access, security, power, cooling and
suppression of fire, cabling and labelling, communication and tools
Slide 4: The fourth slide discusses about the location of a data center. The location should be
around the office of a company. it should not locate it natural calamity prone zone such as
earth quakes and it should have large space in order to keep the devices
Slide 5: the fifth slide discusses about the access to the data centers. The local laws will
decide the access to the data centers. The company should consider the access of the data
center from the delivery dock and the data center must have two exits and a ramp for raised
floors
Slide 6: the sixth slide discusses about the security of the data centers. The data centers must
have proper physical security and access should only be given to such people such as the
technicians. Limiting admittance to the data centers maximizes the availability and reliability
of the devices. The data centers must be locked with cards and the employees should have
biometric access

Slide 7: The seventh slide discusses about the power, cooling and fire suppression of data
centers. In the data centers, power and cooling are related that means that power makes the
equipments run and cooling removes the heat. Power and cooling is very important for the
running of the equipments in the data centers. The data centers should have fire suppression
systems in case of any fire. The data centers should have smoke detectors and fire
extinguishers in case of any breakout of fire
Slide 8: The eight slide discusses about the cabling and the labelling of the equipments in the
data centers. Proper cable management tools must be purchased and the data centres must
have vertical and horizontal options of cable management. The management of cable must be
done by keeping them in closed racks. Good labelling is required for smooth running of the
equipments and the centers. All the equipments kept in the data centers must be labelled in
front and back
Slide 9: The next slide discusses about the tools and supplies of a data center. A data center
should have some important tools for smooth working. The important tools include voltmeter,
cable toner, cable tenser, power cords, cordless drills, label printer and Gaffer’s tape.
Slide 10: The next slide discusses about the communication inside the data centers. The
people working in the data centers need to communicate with the customers or the
technicians, so there must be some technique of communication in the data centers. It is
recommended to keep telephones at the end of each rack in the data centers
Slide 11: From the presentation, it can be concluded that data centers are the places where the
equipments are kept for the smooth working of a company. the various aspects of running a
data center is discussed and the data centers must follow the aspects in order to run smoothly.
