A business model canvas is a tool used in the business sector for organizations to develop new
business models as well as for improving and documenting existing business model. The
business model canvas is composed of various components, as seen in our group business model
canvas, (Antikainen and Valkokari, 2016, pp. 7). In this essay, we are going to discuss key
activities as a component of our business model canvas. Key activities refer to the essential
actions that an organization must perform to operate in business successfully. Key activities are
required to offer and create a value proposition, earn revenues, build and maintain customer
relationships as well as reach markets just like the key resources, (Ovans, 2015). The business
model types determine the key activities; thus, they vary from one model to the other. Key
activities in the business model should be identified well, and comprehensive analysis of these
activities should be done for efficient and effective business operation.
Every business model has its unique vital activities that enable the business to survive
and develop in the competitive contemporary business sector. For our business model canvas, the
key activities include managing a meeting with UTS representative for partnership, maintain
customer relationship through delivery/pick up and support services, and arrange for finance.
The product produced in our business model cannot be realized without outsourcing. Thus, the
first crucial activity is to approach a UTS representative and agree on the partnership. This
partnership will determine the design, the manufacturing, and delivery of the tablets as well as
the quality and quantity aspects, (Nevin, 2016). Marketing of the product is key to the success of
the business. Creating and maintaining good customer relationship is very important in creating a
good brand, thus help the business gain a competitive advantage over its competitors. The table

should include features that meet the needs and wants of the customer; thus, the business will
realize customer satisfaction.
The other key activity of our business model is to arrange for finance. The business idea
may be viable, but without the funds to sponsor the implementation of the model, nothing will be
realized. Funds can be obtained through various ways such as donations from friends, bank
loans, grants, and partnership with other stakeholders who believe in the market opportunity
identified by the business. For our business, we have to organize fundraising activities to collect
enough money to sponsor the company.
Key activities in any business model play a crucial role in determining the success of the
business. Key activities are the driving force of the business, and thus, they should be understood
well and encourage creativity to improve these activities. For instance, identifying the right
partner will ensure that we deliver quality tablets that will meet the customer expectations, (Hill
and Alexander, 2017). All the key activities are equally important, and each should be given the
same priority. The key activities will ensure the tablet is delivered at a reasonable cost and
quality, achieving customer satisfaction, and the objective of the business are met at the same
time.
