Introduction
Identification of the article
The article that has been chosen for completion of the report is ‘Integrated Business
Process and Service Management’. The author of the chosen article is Thomas R. Gulledge.
Statement of purpose
Service Oriented Architecture has been the considered for software development process.
The purpose of article is to demonstrate the value of the business that SOA derives from the
alignment of the business services with composition application (Gulledge 2015).
Brief outline
This report describes a proper analysis of the chosen article. This report discusses about
the intention of the article in the initial stage. After discussing the intention of the article, proper
understanding of the research method that is used for completion of the project is also well
stated. After clearing the concept of the research method that is used proper investigation of the
findings that has been made is performed. This report also provides proper understanding of the
problems and issues that are present and found. Proper description of the conclusion that is
provided in the article is also performed in this report.

Intention of the article
It has been seen that BPM has been gaining high importance regarding the daily activities
in execution of procedural logic. Usage of lean six sigma has also been considered as one of the
major aspect that might facilitate the operational process. Usage of total quality management

along with the likes of the continuous process improvement might also act beneficial in the
process. Again it is seen that the results that are expected are not always as expected. This is one
of the major aspect that not robust statement can be provided. The success of the project can be
received only if the data that are received are well aligned with the system. In today’s society,
Service Oriented Architecture plays an important role. Service Oriented Architecture has been
providing proper assessment of the requirement of the diverse audience (Chang 2016). This helps
in bettering the eminence of the information management. SOA has been adding value to the
business. This section also includes understanding of the importance of alignment of the business
process and the business service. Usage of process innovation is made as per enhancing business
value is seen. The project that have been performed in the chosen article has been implemented
in complex product lifestyle management. BPM is considered as a concept that can be easily
developed via service orientation process. A fine line of difference is seen in case of defining
BPM as per the designation. There is a separate definition of BPM for managers and a different
definition of BPM for the technologists.
As per the technologists the BPM is a software concept. This section is mainly focused
on processing of the flow of the objects across the system. Technical BPM is documented with
the standard notations. Usage of BPEL (Business process execution language is made). The
methods that are considered in this stage needs to have high alignment with the business process
model processes (Baumgraß et al, 2016). A figure is also provided which helps in understanding
the relationship in between the Business and technological aspect of BPM.
The entire process is Business BPM as per management requirement is performed in 2
sections. The two sections are namely Order Management and Visibility. This layer is known as
the Process Layer. This layer is often powered by Oracle (Van Der Aalst et al, 2017). The second

layer consists of Order planning, Inventory Validation, Shipment planning, shipment execution
and freight settlement.
The entire process of Technical BPM consists of 2 sections. In this case the process
starts. After this starting of the process invoking phase starts. After the invoking stage, assigning
phase starts. After this section, switching is performed. Again Copy phase is performed after the
assigni9ng phase. Both the switch and the copy phase, Flow phase starts. From the flow phase,
reply phase and switch phase starts. After the reply stage, OnMessage phase starts along with the
switch phase. Partner phase starts after completion of the switch phase. Hence wise pick phase is
completed. Again in the OnMessage phase, switch phase have started. After the switch phase and
the Pick phase, OnMessage phase starts again. Henceforth the entire process ends. This layer is
known as the automation layer (Rosa et al, 2017). After the process layer and automation layer,
application layer starts. In the application layer, 3 sections are present. SAP, Warehouse
management system and Oracle is present. There is a proper connectivity of the vertical
integration.
Research method
The research method that is used in completion of the article is secondary data analysis.
In this case both qualitative data collection along with the quantitative data collection is made. In
the initial states qualitative data collection is made. With the qualitative data analysis, a basic
concept of BPM is created. After developing a proper concept of BPM, proper understanding of
SOA is made. This concept development acts important in completion of the entire project in an
efficient manner. Another major aspect that is considered during the data collection in qualitative
manner is that the data that are collected needs to be from peer reviewed articles. Usage of peer
reviewed articles have been increasing the authentication of the data that are gathered. This

authentication of the data increases the stability of the data that are used in commencing of the
project. After developing a basic understanding of the concepts of SOA and BPM, proper
analysis is made regarding the alignment processing. Proper reading regarding the service
oriented implemented of the entire sectioning is also performed. Hence wise the benefits that
might be enjoyed in the process of alignment of BPM as per SOA is also studied. After gaining
complete understanding regarding the basic concepts quantitative data collection is made. In this
section numeric data are collected. These data are used for precise understanding of the data
segmentation and hence wise analysis of the entire data set is performed. Another major benefit
that is received includes the fact that the data that will be collected via these journals will not be
facing any copyright issue. This ensures that the data that will be used in the project completion
is highly authentic in nature.
Finding
There are a list of finding that have been jotted down in the chosen article. The findings state that
the three layered model is primarily characterized as per business process requirements as per
modeled in the Business BPM layer. Technical business process as well as the flow control will
be modelled as per technical BPM layer (Rahimi, Møller and Hvam 2016). Service execution as
well as the deployment layer has been gathering services from the various information systems.
The requirement of the business process as per the aligned system implementation requirement
acts beneficial. Composite application structure as per the framework ensures that the
functioning process gets efficient. This leads to the SOA round trip as per realignment of the
business process to perform the accommodation of changes. This was initially indicated by
Oracle. The entre process is performed as per the operational processing of SOA (Yustianto,
Doss and Kurniawan 2018). After completion of these steps, the entire system is considered to be

integrated and complicated. With the help of proper blending of the Business BPM and technical
BPM, the entire process will be getting completed without much complexities (Grefen and
Turetken 2018). This process requires proper synchronizing. This synchronizing helps in proper
assessment of the operational process in the different layers that are present. The business
process provides a proper control on the technological landscape. The middleware provides top
to bottom integration process. In this process the main aspect that is to be considered is that faith
in end to end business scan be established (vom Brocke, Zelt and Schmiedel 2016). This process
is performed as per the business requirement.
The technologists have high confidence in developing and deploying the business
requirement. The entire solution is based on standard. The standard that is followed in the
process is that of WS-* standard. Reusing of services that are already existing is one of the major
benefit of the section. The fact that both new services can be created and used in the process as
well as the potentiality of using the existing service makes the entire operational process highly
efficient. The Business Process Execution Language can be reused in the process. The model
also allows reusing of the canonical data model extension (García-Holgado et al, 2015). The
main concept that can be derived is that the model is completely based on investing on the
systems that are already existing. This is one of the main reason that the model has been highly
accepted for operational purposes (Wang et al, 2016).
This model in a way reduces the cost of project completion. The architecture of the
systems are already present and investing on the same ensures that the operational cost reduces.
In case of the technology landscape of the most organization the most common aspect that can be
considered is that no vendor is capable to dominate the technology landscape. The main reason
behind this inability to create a dominance of a single vendor in the process is that there are a

minimum of 3 vendors that are required in completion of the model. A pyramidal structure is
followed in the BPM model. This pyramidal structure constitutes the fact that the entire process
is subdivided in 3 sections. In the Service execution stage, there are 2 steps. The steps are namely
Business Services (ESB) and the Utility Services. Above the Service execution, Technical BPM
is again sub divided in 2 sections. Business process for execution along with the complex
processes for execution. After this stage, Business BPM phase comes. In this phase there are 3
major steps. The steps are namely Business processes, Business process overview and corporate
maps.
Problems and issues
The main issue that is detected in the process is that business case for the SOA cannot be
completed until proper alignment is created among the business service and the end to end
business process.
Conclusion of the article
The conclusion of the article deals with the framework of the distributed network
management. the conclusion also acknowledges the functionality of the true value of SOA as per
the business. The conclusion of the chosen article states that the managers are mainly focused on
the activities that creates customer value in the business process. In case the SOA is enabled with
more timely information along with adding customer value SOA can be considered as a factor
that increases the business value. The conclusion also acknowledges that proper establishment of
composite application approach has been benefitting the entire process of round trip model.

of the article is because the subject is about Business enterprise engineering and the project
article that is chosen is completely based on integrative BPM.
Conclusion
As per the above discussion it can be stated BPM to SOA supports proper alignment and
henceforth the implemented process is performed as per the round trip model. It can also be
stated that the structure provides more benefits in terms of operation over the other traditional
approaches that were implemented in the initial stages. A new paradigm is seen to evolve and
hence wise presence of manual intervention is still seen. Hence the main issue that is faced is that
there is a huge difference in the process of expectation and implementation. Hence wise there is
a huge change in the result that is received.
