PROJ6009 Business Process Improvement: Healthcare Case Study Report

This report focuses on business process improvement (BPM) within the healthcare sector, specifically addressing the challenges of the JCR (likely Joint Cancer Registry) process. It outlines a methodology for improving cancer treatment administration and data collection. The report follows a structured approach, starting with understanding the current JCR process, followed by modeling, validation, and analysis. Shortcomings in the existing process were identified through analysis and staff feedback. The report then proposes redesigning the JCR process, particularly through electronic data submission to improve data collection. When BPM is executed properly, this has ability in enhancing
productivity and efficiency, minimize risks and errors and reduce
costs.
Implementing BPM’s best practices, provides visibility on success
factor of an organization.

METHODOLOGY TO IMPROVE BUSINESS PROCESS
MANAGEMENT
There are several phases of the methodology to improve the business process
management.
Phase 1: Understand current process.
Phase 2: Model current process.
Phase 3: Validate models of current process.
Phase 4: Analyze current process.
Phase 5: Evaluate current process.
Phase 6: Redesign current process.

IMPROVING JCR PROCESS BY USE OF NEW METHODOLOGY
Understanding as well as Modelling JCR Process: JCR process’s main
objective is improving cancer treatment’s administration as well as gathering
information of cancer cases.
Rad Models’ validation for JCR Process: Group and individual meetings were
arranged for validating model.
Analyze as well as Evaluate JCR Process: RAD model’s analysis and JC
staff’s responses has identified shortcomings and deficiencies in process of
cancer registration.
Redesign JCR process: In the model, collection of data in JCR would be
improved through data’s electronic submission to JCR.
