AI Summary
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of project and programme management, focusing on the application of project management frameworks within the context of SB's strategic vision. The report begins by defining project and programme management frameworks and then proceeds to compare and contrast the Agile and PRINCE2 methodologies. It outlines the advantages and disadvantages of each framework, considering factors such as customer satisfaction, flexibility, documentation, and cost. The report then justifies the selection of these frameworks for SB, particularly in relation to the company's plans to establish a software excellence center and provide software solutions. The choice is based on the specific needs of the project. The report concludes with a reflection and a recommendation, suggesting that PRINCE2 is the most appropriate framework for SB's overall project management approach, while also recommending the use of Agile for software implementation projects. The report emphasizes the importance of aligning the project management framework with the specific goals and requirements of the business.

BUSINESS PROJECT AND PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
Part B Reflective Consultancy Report
1. Advantages and Disadvantage of Project/Programme Management Framework
A project or program management framework can be described as combination of
processes, tasks and tools that helps in successful implementation of a particular project. The
most generic project management framework consists of major stages which are project
initiation, project planning, project execution, project control, project monitoring and end of
project (Tomanek and Juricek 2015). Each major phases of a project lifecycle involve a number
of sub-stages, successful implementation of which ensures the success of a project.
The two project management framework that is chosen is Agile project management
framework and Prince2 project management framework. The advantages of Agile project
management framework are as follows-
1. One of the most significant advantages of making use of Agile is that the highest
priority of the agile framework is customers’ satisfaction (Too and Weaver 2014.). This is
possible since the project implementation is involved with the collection of feedbacks from the
clients to implement changes according to the requirements of the customer.
2. The Agile project management framework welcomes change requirements in the
implementation phase of the project as well. This is one advantage of this approach. However,
this can result in delay in project implementation.
3. Agile project management framework involves sustainable development and promotes
technical excellence (Muller 2017). This is another significant advantage of the project.

4. Face to face communication is promoted as an important mode of communication in
agile project management framework. This ensures effective information flow, which is another
significant advantage of agile.
The disadvantages of Agile framework are as follows-
1. More time and commitment is required in agile project management methodology
2. Agile process does not include necessary documentation and therefore the project
might easily
3. Only senior programmers are capable of taking the decisions associated with the
project.
The advantages of making use of PRINCE2 project management framework are as
follows (Skogmar 2015)-
1. Prince2 project management framework is based on seven principles, seven processes
and seven themes that ensures successful implementation of a project
2. This project management framework is widely recognized and therefore it is easier to
implement.
3. This project management framework is mainly build for managing the uncertainties
that can arise in a project.
4. The PRINCE2 project management framework is flexible to change.
The disadvantages of PRINCE2 project methodology are as follows-

BUSINESS PROJECT AND PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
1. Cost of implementation of a project with PRINCE2 project methodology is high
2. Much effort is required for creation and maintenance of documents logs at every stages
of the process.
2. Justification of the Chosen Framework
The PRINCE2 and Agile project management frameworks are chosen for consideration
for project of SB mainly because the company is planning to implement a software excellence
centre. Apart from that SB has recently agreed to purchase a large integrated Mobile
manufacturer and has planned to provide software solutions to its clients as well (Conforto et al.
2014). The software projects are best implemented with agile project management framework
and therefore, Prince2 and Agile are taken into consideration for SB. Agile project management
methodology is appropriate for implementation of software projects as it mainly works on client
feedbacks and involves detailed testing of each project module. The choice of the project
management framework will however depend on the need of the project. Successful execution of
the project is important for business growth of SB and therefore choice of an appropriate project
management methodology is essential (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). The project can be
effectively implemented with both agile and PRINCE2 project management framework and
therefore the choice these framework is justified.
3. Reflection and Recommendation
The project management framework that will be a correct choice for SB is PRINCE2
project management framework. There are a number of reasons behind choosing this particular
approach for SB. One of the most significant reasons behind the choice of this of this framework
is that the company is planning to provide software solutions to its clients along with hardware.

BUSINESS PROJECT AND PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
For that, the company is planning to develop a software excellence centre. With Agile
framework, implementation and delivery of a software project becomes easier; however, for
construction and development of software excellence centre, the PRINCE2 project management
framework is appropriate. PRINCE2 ensures a planned approach of project implementation and
therefore this framework of project management is chosen for the implementation of project by
SB. With PRINCE2 approach, the project is expected to be delivered within the scheduled time
of 2 years, and therefore the choice of this project management approach is justified. However,
for software implementation project, it is recommended for SB to make use of agile project
management framework to ensure that products specified by the client is understood and
delivered accordingly. Thus both the project management framework can therefore be used in
this case in order to deliver the programme.
