is to deliver those products to their customer which are not much pricy but at the same time add
value to them. The company is willing to expand their business as they are planning to develop

PART A
Business Case/Program Management
Project management is defined as the procedure of manage, coordinate, plan, control and
execution of projects. With the help of this aspect business operations can be carried out in an
efficient way so as to recognise numerous problems which may occur during project initiation. In
the background of SB, they overtook a company named WN and developed a specific vision
thereon. To achieve prescribed vision numerous efforts were put by the company but they face
various issue and obstacles. For instance the company planned to move their manufacturing
entity to US form Far East (Wagner, 2016). Some of the major problems which were faced by
the company are elaborated along with suggestions so as to resolve the issue in considerable
manner.

cost and their ineffective control (Levin, 2016). These lead questions that will the company be
able to manage its operations in an effective way or not?
Quality Issue: Other problem was faced by SB is issue within their product quality. This
affected the goodwill and profit in an adverse manner. Within manufacturing entity, quality was
also faced by the company in some of the components.
Loss of Jobs: Overtake of WN by SB lead the company to face losing of their employees
which affected their performance in negative way (Kendrick, 2016). As due to overtake
employees of both the companies were merged to work together and total number increased.
Thus from the above discussion it can be deduced that various problems were faced by
SB as within their business operations (Smith and Dodds, 2017). Due to this their performance
has decreased which resultantly decreased their profitability.
Recommendations
By investigating aforementioned situation, numerous recommendations are given to the
company in order to adopt them so that to resolve their problems in a considerable manner.
Training and development sessions should be given to their employees so as to enhance and
develop their skills in timely manner. By this overall performance will be enhanced due to which
employees will feel motivated and encouraged. This will make the business achieve their
organisational goals in an effective way which will enhance product and operational quality of
the business. In order to solve the problem of inefficient management, SB is suggested to recruit
those candidates who are having appropriate skills and knowledge, this will render skill of
manage their business in considerable and effective way. Skilled employees will help the
company to develop those strategies which re helpful to manage their business operations in
considerable way. Similarly, in order to minimise their issue of jobs due to overtaking WN, the
company should not terminate their employees as they are skilled and valuable for the company.
So instead of this company should transfer them to their various branches so as to retain their
talent within the business (Rosemann, Recker and Safrudin, 2016). When company is having any
significant changes or modification then it should be communicated to all of their employees so
as to make them aware about the same.

SB is willing to expand their business so as to deliver quality and integrated system to their
customer so as to give them best technology. The company is working at a global level and in
order to control their overall cost they has moved their manufacturing unit to US from Far East
so as to improvise quality of their product and to get market competitive edge. Developing
expertise development within software enhancement was their major deliverable which is made
for mobile technology. It is examined that the existing product development department of SB is
not so large despite it undertakes both software and hardware department. This involves the
portfolio of those projects which have crossed their deadline and not delivered to the end user
(Nicholas and Steyn, 2017).
With the partnership of DDC, the company was planning to develop and deliver tablet PC
to their customer was their other deliverables. DDC is an external consultancy company which is
having partnership with SB so as to enhance their market and to attract more customers. This
project was managed in a very poor way so didn’t work in desired way and became unsuccessful.
On the other hand the company used so many methods in order to improvise their performance
such as Agile method and scrum method but they were unable to enhance their performance. The
product development project of the company had so many issues and it was a full failure to them.
Now SB desired to enhance their capabilities in development of software so as to achieve market
competitive edge. So for this the company overtook WN which is a mobile manufacturer
company. This overtaking assisted SB to enhance its market capabilities as the company has
enhanced their software skills and initiated product development within their business.
On the other side shifting their manufacturing units to other place has led to arise so
many aspects and questions regarding capabilities of the company and their strategic goals which
are aligned with their business. Numerous projects were succeeded from the entire project
mentioned above, whereas some of them were failed and didn’t work out. In its initial time the
company faced problem of management within software under their product development project
(O'brien, 2019). As due to inadequate use interface within tablet PC the company was having
problem to manage them as client faced so many problem in using them. Further in terms of
requirement and scope, manufacturing facility of the project worked in a very inadequate way.
Thus from all their success and failure they learnt something and took a lesson that these
mistakes will not be repeated in any of the future projects.

Estimating and Scheduling
In the process of running various projects, SB faced so many problems and challenges
such as lack of proper management, poor quality products and job loss during overtaking WN.
On the contrary in addition to challenges the company had taken so many big movements so as
to improvise within time period of 2 years. The adopted two approaches are elaborated as under:
Agile Methods (Scrum)
Company introduced Agile method so as to improvise performance of their system
development project. As this was the first method so partners had not contributed in desired
manner so this method got unsuccessful. Scrum can be stated as the outline of project
management which is light weight and used to manage or control project which are incremental
or iterative in nature. In agile methodology, with the group member owner shows their existence
and work with them so as to recognise and initiate system functionality (Tirumala, Ali, and
Babu, 2016). This method includes high involvement and responsibility of the entire individual
which are engaged in the project so as to make project successful. With the help of this
methodology employee satisfaction and their creativity can be enhanced in the business so as to
improvise overall product quality.
P3M3 Model
This can be defined as the approach which sketches the mode as in which that will be
used to deliver a project. P3M3 is an abbreviation for portfolio, project program and project
management maturity model which assist the business in recognising its level of existing
performance and their plan of action for future so as to perform their operation in more effective
way. This model helps the company to ensure that their undertaken projects are having market
feasibility. By adopting P3M3 model a company will be able to recognise way to manage their
project in effective and more enhanced way. Thus, this is not only helpful within departmental
operation but it is helpful within overall business. This is useful tool as it helps to compare
business performance with their rivals so as to suggest any improvements. On the other hand this
model is used majorly so as to apply strategic idea within operations. This approach helps to
boost confidence of employee as they feel part of the company by this (Cuadros López, Morales
Viveros and Rojas Meléndez, 2017).
The major differentiation between Agile and P3M3 Model is that latter is used so as to
recognise maturity of management of an organisation. This classifies measures and their

structures so as to implement the same in a systematic and desired manner. On the contrary,
Agile approach is used so as to deliver progressive report to the customer within short span of
time. This is used for improvising quality of the project and its product.
Risk and Issues Management
Risk management is stated as the method of recognise and arranging forthcoming risk
which is having significant impact over business performance and making strategies to deal with
those risks so as to eliminate them on timely manner. By mixing this concept in the business
system the organisation may be able to recognise their risk in their initial stage and can take
preventive or corrective action to deal or eliminate them. By this the business will be capable to
run their operation in an effective way so as to get long term sustainability. Within the
background of SB, since they overtook a mobile manufacture company named WN. For this they
were willing to enhance quality of their business so as to render standardised quality products to
their customers (Heath, 2018). In this process the business had to deal with numerous problems
and challenges that are elaborated as under:

organisation as both organisation as per their style and method of working (Nicholas and Steyn,
2017).
This issue generates problems and issue which is faced by SB to perform its operations. So to

Document Page
To identify risk- It is prominent and initial stage that is related with analysis in
which organisation monitor those aspects that relates with overall performance of
both organisation.
Assess of risk aspect- Once an organisation identify all of its risk aspects, then
management select those that it used to identify potential impact.

engaged workforce (Maylor, Blackmon and Huemann, 2016). Moreover, all employee are also
motivated due to which employees perform their work with a confident approach. Due to shift of
organisation from Far East to US and signed of partnership deed with European organisation
generates necessity for performing work as per decide rules and regulation of both countries.
Apart from this, with constant evaluation among market it is analysed that it is done for
dealing with issue as risk that are identified in project must be solved. Also, different stage that
are related with stakeholders of organisation such as customers, employees, government etc. is
used for making changes that with respect for this organisation major stakeholders are workforce

program control methods in context of selected business are mention as follow:
Go/Off limits control – This specific technique for program control remembers the testing of
the considerable number of items for request to guarantee that all the conditions that are set for
the program are met. It is to some degree hard for SB to test the entirety of its items and
administrations. Be that as it may, if this is done, the organization will become acquainted with
the general nature of the equivalent (Smith and Dodds, 2017). Likewise, it will help the
organization in testing if the items that are created, viable or not. This will be helpful for the
items that don't meet all the preconditions of the necessary norms of business. Go/Off limits
control is one the most helpful strategies for program control yet additionally has a few
impediments to it. For instance it is an unpredictable procedure to test all the results of the
organization without a moment's delay.
Computerized Control – This is one of the most ordinarily utilized strategy for program
control that is utilized by numerous associations so as to decide the general yield of the venture.
Program in this specific undertaking of the organization has the two contributions just as yields.
In this way, it is extremely critical for SB to have wanted yield from the task that will bolster it
in accomplishing wanted objectives and goals. Computerized control is a compelling system
control technique that not just aides in controlling the general yield of a task just as accomplish
the yield that coordinates the ideal business guidelines (Engelbrecht, Johnston and Hooper,
2017). One restriction of utilizing this specific technique is that it totally centres around the yield
of the venture and disregards the information.

and identify different methods that are procuring, supplying and selecting different contracting
consultancies. It also helps to take better decisions that are focused towards attaining desired
goals and objectives (Daniel, Ward and Franken, 2014). This also leads company to generate
right decisions in order to select right location for organisation operational functions. Some
different options which are essential to consider explained as follow:
To select suppliers- For selecting right supplier management select them on own research
or also select a vendor make them responsible for selecting the vendor. Both options are
utilised by organisation in effective manner that leads to work in proper manner but both

side, if a vendor is hired then some confidential information is also shared by
management. So it is more complex for both organisation and to deal with management
must complete research with own team that also assist to select right individuals.

Document Page
Traditional method- As per traditional method, consultant are responsible for implement and
manage of all activities related with construction of building that is used to take care for same
design.
Joint venture- According to this option all engaged parties in contracts are responsible for
completion of all task with each other effectively.

are responsible to carry out essential management activities (Dalcher, 2016). In this particular
method high skilled professional or experts are hired for completing contract with in right
manner.
Contract with consultancy- This is important for respective organisation to select most
effective consultancy that provides better and effective service. It helps management for
developing and establishing effective centre of excellence which is used to attain desired results.
Further, there are different ways also recognised by organisation for making an effective contract
with consultancy. The best way for connecting with different individuals is to use internet that is
easily available at all places (Carroll, 2016). So it is an effective decision that helps for use of
information in an effective manner. On the other side, second method to interact with
consultancy is to involve third party but is compulsory that they are more trustworthy. But if
