INTRODUCTION
The following report is based on the personal records and reflective analysis. Personal
record plays an essential part in any individual’s life. This record helps in analysing the areas in
which a person requires development or improvement to achieve their personal and professional
goals. Reflective analysis defines the manner in which a person can assess himself or herself in
order to know how they study or working in their life (Dana and Yendol-Hoppey, 2019). This
helps in critically examine the areas learning or experience while connecting them to learning
aspirations to the primary course. In this portfolio, areas of business will be outlined. It also
considers how the potential placement aligns with the interests of a person. It will consider the
personal SWOT analysis to assess the personal and professional skills in the relevant area. It will
also focus on making a PDP to cover the gaps in the areas of skills. Personal audit will also be a
part of this report.
TASK
Areas of business
When starting a new business organisation, there is a necessity to have a business plan.
This plan can be used as a document prepared for investors or lenders. It also acts as a guide to
how the organisation will be managed and shaped. This plan enables an individual starting an
organisation to analyse and understand all the aspects of running and organising business, so it is
an essential tool of management. I came to know about different areas of business in which a
person can grow and build his career or dreams in the relevant field (Downey and Clandinin,
2019). These areas of businesses are human resource management, marketing, operational
management, finance, purchasing, customer services, technology and equipment, production and
many more. From the very start, I already developed an interest in the area of human resource
management. Human resource management is the area of management where people are hired,
recruited, selected, compensated, organized, trained and developed, controlled and many more.
This is the area where people of an organization are the main concentration. Therefore, I want to
grow and develop my career in this respective area of business as I think it is best suitable to me
to achieve my career aspirations.
Potential placement or project aligned with the interests.
I have developed my career in Human Resource Management in which I have
enthusiastic interest to attain my dreams. I got the opportunity to work in this department of a
well-reputed organization in United Kingdom. I received the chances to work on my expertise
and specialist area i.e. HRM. I worked as a HR executive in my company where I had to look on
the aspects of personnel or employees in the organization. I had to know about the job vacancies
in the company with an intent to fulfil those vacant seats. I also had to coordinate with other
departments in order to know about the job profiles, number of vacant seats, and so on. Then, I
had to post adverts on various places such as on social media platforms, newspapers, company’s
official profile and so forth so that candidates would know about the same and apply for the job.
Then, I had to take interview rounds to know about the worth and abilities of candidates that best
matches with the job profiles. It is my responsibility to place right candidate to the right place

and on right time so that overall business goals and objectives can be accomplished by them. I
also had to give rewards, compensation and prizes who are doing well in the organization
(Fitzmaurice and et.al., 2019). Also, I had to give some punishments if any member misbehaves
against the company. Hence, all such activities reflect my interests in the chosen field of
business. All such experiences and learning helped me to know where I am good at, where I need
to improve or grow some other main skills.
A personal SWOT analysis
A personal SWOT analysis is a framework to know about the strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities as well as weaknesses of a person. This framework will help in examining the areas
of development or enhancement so that person can better be able to accomplish their life
aspirations and goals. This analysis will work on the skills, abilities, knowledge or qualities of an
individual so that the area of development can be identified. My personal SWOT analysis is as
follows:
Strengths:
Communication Skills: With the help of this framework, I came to know about the
strengths of my effective communication skills. I can effectively communicate with my
peers, seniors, colleagues, new candidates and so forth. I can easily put my opinions and
perceptions in front of them without any fear or hesitation (Hwang and et.al., 2018). It
also helps me in making healthier relationships and bonds which lasts long life times.
Listening skills: By having an effective communication skill, this also helps me in
developing listening skills as I when I share or convey things with other people, it also
assists me to listen their perspectives or ideas as well. This giving and taking of ideas
help me in better doing tasks and activities while attaining the common goals in the most
effective and efficient way.
Time-management skills: I also came to know about my one of the great skill that is
time-management skills. With the help of this skill, I am able to do my work on time and
on given deadlines which reflects my positive side and strengths. I do make schedules
and time-table which help in doing prior task and activity. It also helps me in managing
my personal and professional life as I complete my task on time, it helps me to take time
for my family and friends.
Weaknesses:
Problem-solving skills: Being an HR executive in my organization, there is always a
time that I face issues in resolving problems and difficulties of other people in the
business. This is identified as one of my core weaknesses that I need to develop for better
competing in my life (Koichu and Pinto, 2018).
Leadership Skills: I found that leadership skill is not so good within me and I need to
improve this skill to effectively lead, direct, guide and motivate people in my
organization. When I am dealing with people, there is a lack of understanding that what
type of leadership styles I can use to lead people. there is always ups and down in the

organization, so I need to grow up with this skill to keep employees motivated in the
organization.
Creativity skills: I also realized that I am not effective in creativity skills which
sometimes impacts my work management. A person should have creativity skills to
attract talent in the organization, to manage work in the most creative way that inspire
people and other organizations as well.
Opportunities:
Inter-personal skills: While analysing all my key areas, I found that improving
interpersonal skills will help me in connecting more people which is good for me and for
my career as well. This will create opportunities for me to build my career in the desired
field and organization. It also helps me achieving my dreams and professional
aspirations.
Team-work skills: I also found the opportunity of improving team-working skills. By
improving this skill will help me get the best outcomes and results by the team members.
In any organization, collaborative, coordinated team-work plays an essential role in
accomplishment of the common objectives (Miles, Huberman and Saldaña, 2018).
Threats:
Negotiation skills: This skill is one of my big threats as I feel that I am weak at
bargaining with people. It affects my overall results in the organization. I should good at
this skill when dealing with new talent and candidates. If I am not good at negotiating
with people, then, it can affect the overall profits of the business while also chances of
losing good talent in the company.
Organizational skills: Another threat is organization skill. In the organization, it is
important to organise and manage things or resources, whether it is human resource or
financial resources. If these resources are mismanaged then, it could harm and damage
the whole business. I should work on enhancing organizational skills.
Critical Thinking skills: I always get worried to analyse the things and situation
critically. I have a threat that if I am unable to critically evaluate the things will also
impact the team, people working in organization and the whole management can suffer
due to the lack of this skill (Oswald, 2019).
PDP to develop or improve the skills, knowledge or abilities.
Personal and professional development plan or PDP is a document or action plan used by
an individual to know their main areas of development of improvement or whatever skills or
abilities they want to grow to attain their life aspirations (Ropero-Giralda and et.al., 2020). PDP
