Week 2
David Kolb’s experimental learning theory:
The theory of experimental learning was put forward by David Kolb in 1984. There are two
steps associated with the experimental learning model: a learning cycle and different learning
styles. The theory involve the process of cognition of information that takes place within
individuals at each and every stage. The theory propounded by Klob explains how individuals
gather knowledge when in the process of learning. Following are the components of the theory:
Experience: The point in the learning curve when the individual experiences or encounters a
situation through which he or she gather the opportunity to learn something new.
Reflection: It is the process by which the individual interprets and analyses what they learn or
identifies the opportunity for learning.
Conceptualisation: It is the point in the learning theory when the individual is already conscious
about the existence of a situation and is getting acquainted with the concept.
Experimentation: It is the process of applying the learning in daily practices.
From the experimental learning theory I learnt that in order to learn something new more
effectively, one should always take actions step by step. I realised that all cannot be achieved in
one go. The steps in the learning theory supports this fact and will help me in the future to looks
at matter in a different perspective. While tackling a problem, rather than going to find the
solution in the beginning, I will look to solve it step by step and that according to me will make
things relatively easier for me.

Week 3
In any form of writing, formation of a Paragraph is a must. In a generalised paragraph there
are six to seven sentences. The purpose of a paragraph is to separate and distinguish ideas in a
dedicated sections. Although one cannot make the mistake of putting arbitrary information in a
random manner, rather they have to provide the information in a sequential manner.
In a piece of writing that is considered academic, the write up has a distinctive formal tone and
that does not imply that one is bound to use complex words and long sentences. It is the
opposite since an academic piece of writing, the writers should maintain small sentences and try
to avoid complex words. As far as what I understood, academic writing is the way to educate
the reader about a topic in a simple and formal manner. However the information in those
writings should be genuine and should be backed by suitable references through with the reader
can adjudge the legibility of the information.
At school I have learnt how to create a small business. I have learnt to work on PowerPoint and
even made my own presentations, demonstrated the presentation and got a score of 98%
It was an overall fun experience. I wish to continue learning to develop new skills in the future
at the university. I had good experience with all three modules that is, introduction to business,
recording business transactions and personal learning.

information or give the answer to any question. The peel provide the much essential framework
that is needed to create a desirable paragraph. In PEEL, P stands for Point, which is used to
highlight the main idea or topic that is being discussed, E for Explanation which implies
backing up the idea with a discussion, E stands for Example where the writer demonstrate the
idea that they are describing by citing other such instance and also by using references and
finally L which stands for Link, which is used to direct the discussion back to the idea that was
being written about or discussed.
In my years studying as a student I have been often found guilty of creating sentences that are
quite vague. There were instances involving certain examinations were I wrote right to the
point, even discussed the necessary information but failed to secure good marks. I would not
want to replicate such mistakes.
From now I hope to incorporate the PEEL style of paragraphs into my writings for better results
and for a better opportunity to explain and communicate my though, ideas and expressions. I
hope to follow this style of writing as in future my job role could need presenting matter in a
more concise and articulated way and I would like to believe that the above mentioned style of
writing will help me communicate my knowledge and opinions in a more direct wayand easy
way.
