Introduction:
The report aims at providing an overview of a not for profit organization that the one might want
to work. The organization chosen here is World Vision Canada. The report puts forward a
background and analysis.
Background:
1. Brief History of the Organization, Its Mission, Goals and Achievements
World Vision began in the year 1950 by an American missionary Robert Pierce
(worldvision.ca, 2019)). On his visit to China in the year 1947, Pierce got an invitation for
delivering a speech at the girl’s school operated by Tena Holkeboer who was a missionary with
Reform Church of United States. The girls were encouraged to claim them as Christians once
they got back home. The very next day when he returned to say goodbye he found Tena
Holkeboer a child who was not only abandoned but also beaten by the family for converting to
Christianity. On being asked about a solution regarding the task, Pierce provided the child with
five dollars with a promise to provide more aid once he reached home. This led to the
commencement of World Vision and the idea of the child sponsorship.

The goals of World Vision Canada lie in helping the children, communities and the
families in overcoming injustice and poverty.
Achievements:
They work towards changing lives of the children through child sponsorship. The sponsors
usually make a commitment of contributing $39 on a monthly basis towards the program that
benefits the family, child and the community. Besides, the programs of World Vision Canada
focuses on food, education, clean water, healthcare, community development, economy,
emergency response and protection of a child (worldvision.ca 2019).

legislative action that needed to be adopted for addressing the forced as well as the child labor in
the Canadian Supply Chain. This report was however considered a welcome move by World
Vision. Thus, the organization urged the Canadian government in taking further steps through

sector in designing the right kind of supply chain for Canada.
Analysis:
1. Reasons for Choosing the Organizations for the Project
World Vision Canada represents a global relief and development organization that works
towards a noble motive of empowering the children, communities and families in overcoming
injustice and poverty. The organizations is so dedicated to its work that in the year 2018, it used
86 percent of the overall expenses of operation for the programs that benefits the children along
with their communities and families. Besides, the strategy of the organization is such that for
each of the dollar donated towards the World Vision it is more of a dollar’s worth of the help that
gets to the families and the children. Further, the organization also tries in keeping its overhead
rate lower.
2. Learning from the Accomplishments, Values, Activities, Culture and Governance
Accomplishments: The organization helps in learning how it works for nearly 100 countries
with an approach that involves tackling of child poverty based on faith, community and child.

Values: The organizations also helps in learning that how the core values of the organization lies
at the centre of the work and how it determines the commitment to one another and to the poor.
Activities: The `World Vision Canada teaches people as to how dedicatedly it works with the
children, communities and families in overcoming injustice and poverty. Through its activities
one is also able to learn how the children can enjoy having good health, remain cared for,
educated and protected and engage in decision making that impact their lives.
Culture: World Vision Canada believes in a culture where it leads a team supporting overall 600
staffs across country.
Governance: In this regard, one can learn how the board of directors volunteers for the time of
the children across the world. One can also see how they volunteer by investing their talent, time
and expertise. They ensure that the organizations meet highest standards in every respect of
accountability and work.

3. Recommendations for the Pros and Reason for Working in the Organization
After doing the research I still feel that I would like to work for the organization.
Recommendation:
Canada should commence on donor mapping exercise for overseeing where the other
donors tackle fragility and vulnerability in places where the country plans in working. Through
assessing the investment and the scope of international actors and donors, World Vision Canada
will remain capable of determining where the intervention would act both distinct and
complementary in achieving greater impact.
4. Two Questions that I Would Ask the Recruitment Interviewer:
1. Does World Vision Canada Support a Long-term Vision?
This question is asked to know whether the organizations seek in partnering with other
similar organization thereby bringing about a change in the business.
