INTRODUCTION
Information technology has transformed the way of performing business operations. It has
enabled in solving complex calculations easily and quick processing. For that, various software
are available like Microsoft excel, project, etc. used for different purpose. Furthermore, with
advancement advance and high tech tools are developed to make complex operations easy to
perform it (AlTarawneh and Thorne, 2017). moreover, for SME’s there are tools available as
well which can be used to increase efficiency.
The report will describe about main function of work processor and how website text
needs to be written in academic work. Also, it will be discussed about functions of spreadsheet
and formulas that are used in it.
1. Describe main function within word processing package
A word processor is software which allows in creating, editing, saving, etc. documents and
reports. With help of it, documents can be modified through keyboard and printing it. From all
computer software the word processing is most common in it. The processor can be installed and
used in mobile and laptop as well through cloud service. It consists of several features such as
edit, cut, copy, paste, etc. Alongside, find and replace, spell checker and many other are certain
features as well (Functions of word processor, 2018). Apart from it, there are different function
as well of work processing that is mentioned as below :
Creating documents- It is the main function of word processor where documents are created
digitally. here, there is no need to type data and information within document as all information
is automatically stored in computer memory already. Thus, formatting and changes can be easily
done in it with the help of keyboard. Also, by following certain steps it is a flexible to do edit
document.
Editing- This is function where editing is done in word processor. the process is faster as there
are variety of editing options available for editing it (Faris, 2018). Besides that, changes that are
made can be easily seen on computer screen along with outcome. Moreover, changes can be
tracked as well so it is easy for other users to identify where changes are done. Thus, later
document is evaluated as well.
Comparing – In this function the documents are compared with one another. It means that
changes made in similar documents are compared. Therefore, it makes it easy to identify
differences. Hence, the procedure of complex editing is streamlined.

Sharing – It is another function where the document can be shared easily. furthermore, as there
are various formats of storing it. also, it is shared through e mails or direct online. In addition,
document can be converted into different format as well such as PDF. Therefore, it prevents any
other user to edit or make changes in it.
Webpage – Sometimes word document can be converted into webpage as well. It is done with
help of a software in the word processor that writes HTML coding. so, text is translated and
formatted into file. thus, file can be viewed as webpage (LEE, TANG and XIONG, 2018).
2. How website text is presented in academic work to avoid plagiarism
It is necessary to avoid plagiarism in academic work. this is because it enables in
presenting work in effective way. However, document written in not wasted and can be used as
research paper. There are certain ways to present website text and avoid plagiarism. they are as
follows
Understand the context – do not copy the website text from various journals, articles, etc. rather
than write or edit it your own words. Also, paraphrase it correctly by making proper sentences
and use of grammar.
Quote -By using quote to designate that text has been taken in from different papers. here,
quotes should be same as they are written in paper.
Identify what can be cited – there must be proper citation done for those words which are not
taken from any reference paper. besides that, information and other facts must be properly cited
so that it seems to be authentic (Parish and Battagin, 2017). Moreover, technical data collected
must not be cited.
Manage citations – It is essential to manage citations and keep its records. this is because it
enables in keeping back up of references that are used in document. Alongside, various
references should be used for literature review.
Use plagiarism checkers – this is also a method to avoid plagiarism. in this document written
can be checked into various plagiarism checkers. it will enable in finding out percentage of plag
if exists.
3. Main functions of spreadsheet
A spreadsheet is computer application which is used for storing data and information in
tabular form. basically, it is used for mathematical calculations and accounting work. there are
many ways of analysing data in spreadsheet as it uses various worksheets. In this numeric data is

processed in effective way to obtain outcomes. In this any change in input data is shown in
output. Usually, spreadsheet is used for business functions. The main functions of spreadsheet
are as follows : (Functions of spread sheet, 2018)
Functions – It consists of many rows and columns in which data can be entered. also, it is used
for creating charts and graphs. Moreover, as there are millions of rows with 16,000 columns so
large data set can be easily stored (Raković, 2019).
Computation – This is main function of spreadsheet where lot of mathematical calculations can
be computed. here, addition, multiply, subtraction, etc. can be applied. besides, other functions
such as less than, more than, etc. can be applied as well.
Statistical analysis – The excel in spreadsheet can be used for doing statistical analysis as well.
It is used for calculating variance, average, standard deviation, etc. Alongside, statistical values
like mean, mode, median, etc. are calculated in it.
Formatting It is a function which is related to formatting of cells. here, rows and columns can
be used to expand, merge, insert, delete, etc. Besides, headings and text can be formatted into
bold, italic, etc.
4. Types of formula applied to data in worksheet
Spreadsheet is entirely based on formulae as calculations are done in it. There are several
formulae that is used in excel. the use of formula depends on requirement of user. For each one
the formulae are default installed in excel (Thorne and ALtarawneh, 2017). However, it is
necessary to apply formula correctly so that outcomes obtained is correct (Basic formula in
excel, 2016). the formulae are as follows:
1. Sum – it is a formula which aggregate value of selection of columns and rows. the formula is
sum (number 1, number 2…)
2. Average- this formula gives average value of number data like average of shareholder. its
formulae is
Average (Number1, number…)
3. Count function – it counts all the numeric value in cells for specific range. the formulae is
Count (value1, value 2…)
4. Counta- this is similar to count function in which all cell range is counted. but in this the type
is different as it also count time, string, text, etc. the formulae is
count (value 1, value 2…)

5. If- it is used in sorting of data on basis of specific logic. here, if function is already embedded
in spreadsheet. formulae is

6 Trim – This is used for not returning any empty spaces. but it is only applied in single cell.

Max and Min – this formula is used to find out maximum and minimum value in spreadsheet. the

It can be summarised that IT is highly used in business for various purposes. there are
several software and application developed. there are various functions of word processor such
as creating documents, editing, comparing, etc. Also, website text must be presented in academic
one. for this there are some ways to avoid plag like using quote, manage citation, and others.
Moreover, the functions of spreadsheet are computation, statistical analysis, formatting. In
addition, there are many formula used in excel such as average, if, trim, etc.
