1. The effectiveness and your use of the learning experience
Learning at Holmes Institute is the most fantastic experience. As a student, every perception I
had of learning wholly changed. In the past weeks, I have gradually nurtured my skills in
academics. The research methods unit to be specific has been an eye-opener and has since helped
me realise my strengths in the field, and weaknesses which need to be worked on. In my opinion,
studying at Holmes Institutes a significant achievement, which is bound to have a substantial
contribution, especially towards several aspects of my life. My professional and personal
perspective of life will be impacted, in a more positive manner. The program at Holmes Institute
has helped me grow regarding taking advantage of what I learn, as well as productively apply it
in both personal and professional experiences. The assignments completed the course have
helped me to be more independent and more so, learn to look for scarce information in numerous
secondary sources. The entire learning experience at Holmes Institute is valuable and
phenomenal, as I cannot compare it to any other value-adding period in my life both as a student
and as a career person. My experience has helped me realise the value of education and at the
same time, the number of my respective units at Holmes Institute. These have helped me gather

Based on my coursework at Holmes Institute, I consider my most significant strength to be the
ability to identify the most important and relevant aspects, which need to b highlighted on
specific assignments. This way, I am then able to come up with a summary of what is required,
and what needs to be eliminated in the process. This has helped me improve a lot, especially on

my organisation skills. I have learned the importance of planning, which has helped me in life
activities as well. The learning experience from the program at Holmes Institute will also serve
me in my future career, when it comes to an understanding different perspectives, both of people
and in communication. The program will play a significant role in further nurturing my job and
helping me understand the different perceptions of people, and communicate effectively why
analysing different sorts of information. Throughout the program, I learned that I needed to
sharpen my academic writing skills. This step will help me even in my life in general especially
when I have to come up with sets of written work. I will transfer the knowledge gained from my
course and program and insights as well, to my future endeavours. Research is an infinite
process; hence the experience will help me venture further into more areas of interest. An
example is on coming up with information based on the Impact of social media on the
performance of tourism industry in Nepal. The program at Holmes Institute will help me
systematically gather research evidence, and develop personal findings for my research topic in
the most effective manner.
3. Describe objectively what happened in the learning process
In assessment 1, the course expected me to demonstrate my understanding of the academic
literature, in relation to my approved topic. I consulted with my lecturer in the process and came
up with ten peer-reviewed articles as per the requirement. In the process, I also made use of the
comparable online sources through Google Scholar and the ProQuest database. I also reviewed
all the sources I selected for my project, n contrasted different literature to determine the most
relevant and most beneficial in my topic of consideration. I also took part in the identification of
commonalities as well as conclusions drawn by the differ authors in the field. Finally I learnt
how to analyze different gaps in different literature which was of great help and significance. In

assessment 2, I came up with a written proposal focusing on my approved project, which was
based on the literature review undertook in assessment 1. This in turn, helped develop my
understanding on the business research framework. I came up with relevant research questions,
which fully supported the feasibility of my project. The third assessment, which is my reflective
journal, has also added a lot to my learning experience. I have managed to critically analyze my
journey through the learning process, and I have identified all weaknesses and strengths in the

Business research has been extremely useful especially for my research learning process.
Research on aspects related to my topic has helped me discover a lot especially in regards to
marketplace trends, financial practices, as well as the production processes, which I will consider
in my research topic. I am also more aware of how to discover different niches in the market, as
well as potential problems related to my area of study. Business research has helped me
maximize my resources, in gathering data, and identification of correct processes which will help
me come up with the best research paper in the long run. I am now more aware of where and
how to get information related to the impact of social media on performance of tourism industry
in Nepal, which is my topic of consideration. I am also more knowledgeable on what potential

5. Explain your learning process
HI6008 Business Research has an aim of engaging all students, for the purpose of enhancing
their application of different research methods in their project, for the sake of coming up with
specific proposals. The unit requires participation in class discussions, literature reviews and
report writing, aimed at the improvement of critical thinking skills. The course took me 12
weeks, which involved the critical analysis and the documentation of the learning process, which
has been a growth journey for me. The aspect of ethics in business research has also been
addressed, which is also a significant contribution to my intellectual and professional growth.
The first part of the assessment involved student assessment 1, which was a literature review that
was submitted in week 6 of the course schedule. In this case, the word eight submitted was 2500
words at a minimum, which weighted 30% of the total score. I also took part in the individual
assessment 2, which was 2000 words submission, due week 10 of the course, that made up 50%
of the entire mars. Finally, the third individual assessment which was due on the eleventh week
had a weight of 20% to my overall grade. Class tests are mandatory, which also made me be up
to speed with class discussions and group assignments. The course needed students to follow up
on all relevant assignments, and announcements. Individual assessment 1 provided basic
knowledge on the concept of literature review. This helped gain knowledge on the general
relevance of the complete coursework. Assignment 2 on the other hand, helped come up with the
research proposal. The particular activities helped to keep all students engaged, and personally
helped me to develop relevant conclusions, and come up with the framework for my research
project.

individual. I developed some of the most important values in life, while working on my course
project and different assignments given at Holmes Institute. Some of these values include;
individuality, time management skills, maturity and a sense of personal accomplishment which is
highly essential. Having these values will help mold me into the type of person considered
desirable in my professional life and future experiences. The learning applies a lot to my course
and project topic, which is highly related to concepts learned. During the research topic, research
methods will be applied, especially in coming up with proper findings and recommendations.
The course has also helped me to significantly develop in terms of maturity. This has
significantly helped me come up with more concepts independently, which is also very
beneficial. The program at Holmes Institute has helped me a lot, in realizing the need to also
work hard in my future life, as well as prioritize important elements out of my time, as well as
resources. In terms of education and intellectual growth, the course has helped me acquire the
value of patience and understanding. I am more sensitive to people’s opinions, which will help
