AI Summary
This essay provides a detailed analysis of Kolb's Learning Cycle and Gibb's Reflective Cycle, applying them to the context of business research, specifically addressing the challenge of increasing employee turnover. The essay reflects on the author's personal experience in conducting research, highlighting the stages of both models. For Kolb's model, the author discusses concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. For Gibb's model, the author elaborates on description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, and conclusion. The essay concludes that both models offer valuable frameworks for learning from experiences and improving research skills, ultimately contributing to a deeper understanding of complex issues.

INTRODUCTION
Research is considered as a scientific approach to answer a question, solve a problem or
generate new information or data through a systematic way as well as orderly collection,
organisation along with analysing the information. This tool provide assistance in understanding
the issues and enhancing the awareness of the public. Within this project, the reflective model of
Kolb's learning cycle and Gibb's reflective cycle is going to be used. Kolb's Learning Cycle helps
a person in allowing the transformation of experience to knowledge in order to occur (Gupta and
et.al., 2019). Gibbs's Reflective Cycle facilitates encourages an individual in thinking in a
systematic way regarding the experiences that are gained by it in a specific situation, activity or
event.
MAIN BODY
Kolb's Reflective Model
This reflective model was introduced by David Kolb in 1984 and is a four stage model
that facilitates a person through describing ways in which it can obtain knowledge. The four
stages in this reflective model has allowed me in sharing my experience over accomplishing the
research on increasing employee turnover that is creating challenge for business. The problems
that I have faced in completing the research have been solved in an effective way through this
model of reflection. The four stages of this model is explained as below:
Concrete Experience: At this initial stage of this reflective model, I am required to have
guidance of my teachers that will support me accomplishing this research. My teacher has
assigned me a task in order to carry out research on topics such as increasing employee
turnover. At this stage, I get to know about the topic from a wide number of sources and
also I have knowledge about it based on learning in class (Romanyshyn, 2020). I also
take support and guidance from my teacher for analysing topic deeply along with
completing research effectively.
Reflective Observation: This is second stage and at this stage I made efforts to
understand topic by my own and also concentrated in analysing reason for increasing
employee turnover. There are various reasons for leaving by employees and some of
these are poor working conditions, conflicts, lower payment in comparison to others. For
completing this research, it becomes significant for me to gain understanding of trends

and data. I am also required to understand methods of research that will facilitate me in
collecting information.
Abstract Conceptualisation: This is third stage of Kolb's model and at this stage, I have
analysed various primary as well as secondary data that facilitates me in understanding
the topic effectively. This has become also significant for me to conduct insight analysis
and visualise the information through graphics, pictures and tables. This has allowed me
in identifying reason and developing strategies in order to overcome the issues (Shanafelt
and et.al., 2018). I have identified actual problem and improved my knowledge through
researching various topics. It becomes crucial for me to enhance my base of knowledge
and also to improve my English.
Active Experimentation: This is the last stage of Kolb's Learning Cycle and at this stage
I have actually started to work on my own research by started writing on it. There are
various problems that occur within the process such as chosen research method, etc. At
previous stage, I have worked on this aspect and it has allowed me to accomplish
research and get effective grades.
Gibb's Reflective Model
It is a tool of self-reflection as well as management that provide assistance to an
individual in thinking in a clear and systematic way regarding experiences gained by it during a
particular event, activity and situation along with drawing the conclusions. There are six main
stages within this model and the explanation of these stages are given as below:
Description: It is initial stage of Gibb's Reflective Cycle and at this stage, I have
described that my teacher has assigned me a atsk of collecting information regarding the
topic of challenges of staff turnover within UK and I have faced problem regarding
choosing research method to complete this.
Feelings: At this stage, I was nervous because I had not much experience of research but
at the time of accomplishing such research, different problems have arose in business.
These problems have frustrated me and also created a pressure due to which I have faced
difficulty in making such decisions (Srivastava, Singh and Dhir, 2020). However, I had
taken assistance of my teacher that had provided guidance to me in order to handle the
situation effectively as well as for the accomplishment of the research. Now, I have
completed the research that has helped me in achieving the success and has also created a

sense of satisfaction within me because I have contributed my best for this task and also
scored better.
Evaluation: At this stage, I have evaluated that good things within such experience have
provided me effective grades. But I have also evaluated that there are also bad
experiences that are associated with the data. Other things which I have evaluated are the
problems faced by me in this experience which has not allowed me in accomplishing the
research in an effective way. The support that I had taken by my teacher has motivated
me in completing the research effectively.
Analysis: This is the last stage and I have analysed that I am a confident individual who
is taking the things in a serious way. I have also analysed that I have worked so hard for
analysing the relevant information for the research.
Conclusion: By conducting the research, I have concluded that the reflective model of
Gibb's Learning Cycle has provided me a proper structure to conduct the research in an
effective manner. I have developed so many skills such as researching skills, stress
management skills, time management skills and many others. I have also concluded that I
could take corrective actions in order to accomplish the research and presenting the
information in a precise and effective way.
CONCLUSION
From above explanation of the project, it has been concluded that the concept of research
is considered as the most valuable tool for understanding the complexities of an issue and
develop on for creating knowledge that is authentic and reliable. Within this project, the two
models of reflection have been used and these models include Kolb's Reflective model and
Gibb's Reflective Cycle. Such kinds of models help an individual in learning from its
experiences that have gained by it earlier.
