Assignment 3- Self Reflection
The completion of the project certainly helped me to gain knowledge in several areas of
cyber security and cyber challenges. I have enhanced my knowledge about how cyber challenges
and issues are affecting the business. While working on the project, I have also paid attention to
the future impact of cyber challenges on the business. I must mention that the knowledge that I
have gained throughout the projects will certainly help me in real-world context or in future if I
do a project in the similar context. I have completed the project following certain steps but at the
initial stage of the project, I was worried about the ways that I should to follow to complete the
work. However, the lecture notes helped me to resolve this issue. I realized that the data can be
collected in many ways but it is somewhat depended on the type of the research project. The
methods that I have selected for my research project are effective enough since, I could use this
experience to the next project.
My opinion on the project is, it is essential to conduct a research on such recent issues in
the Information Technology sector, by which, the business are affected. I believe that if a proper
investigation is conducted on cyber challenges and its impact on business, appropriate solutions
can be developed to deal with such issues. My experience helped me to make analysis and make
judgment about the previous projects. While doing my project, I have found that many studies
have been conducted on cyber issues and challenges but hardly a study has discussed about cyber
challenges affect the businesses and the organization. I have rejected several journals due to the
lack of reliability and validity of those papers. However, I must mention that making the choice
of journal articles has been very difficult for me but with the help of class learning notes and my
own skills of judgment, I separated the journals that I will not use in the project.

Nevertheless, my view is that, the research project that I have worked, would have been
more effective and relevant, if a few more journals were reviewed and a thematic analysis
method was applied. Apart from my experience that I have gained throughout the project, this
research will further help me to the real context. For example, if start working an in organization,
I might have to collect the data real-time information to identify the possible threats that the
organization could face. So, here, I could use this knowledge of collecting data from the practical
environment. Besides the real context, in my next project, I may have to collect primary and
secondary data and there I can apply both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.
In one of the previous assignments, I have collected the journals to conduct literature review,
where I have observed how the scholars are presenting their views about the context. I have
understood that in scholarly research, to present a point of view, the appropriate evidences must
have to be presented. Before getting into the project, I only had the ideas about how information
technology is being misused but I did not have much knowledge about extent of impact on the
business. The exploration of the present research context helps me to understand and observe
how unauthorized users are attacking the website and stealing reliable information. However, I
must mention that I lack knowledge in secondary analysis, and in my previous assignments, I did
not include secondary analysis such as thematic analysis. Nevertheless, I believe that addition of
a secondary analysis would have enhanced my knowledge with respect to secondary data. In
addition to this challenge, I faced another significant issue, which is the absence of a
comparative analysis. I believe that a comparative analysis between two organizations that have
faced the cyber challenges would have increased the relevancy of the study.
The completion of these two assignments will help me when I will conduct another research
project, which might be on a different topic but I might have to apply similar methods of

collecting the data such as quantitative and qualitative. In addition to this, I might have to collect
the secondary data, where I have to select the journals considering the relevancy and validity.
Moreover, I have also learned about the sampling types and their criteria, which I could apply in
the research. However, it is worth mentioning that lecture notes provided for the projects helped
me a lot to learn about all these techniques. Weekly lecture notes helped me to divide the work
into particular phases and likewise, the entire research work has been completed following the
phases.
Above all these, my learning process also helped me to complete the project. With the help of
lecture notes and other supporting materials, first, I have identified the issues that are related to
my research projects. Similarly, based on the issues, I have selected the journals related to the
topic. The research issues also helped to form the research objectives and questions. Based on
the objectives, the existing studies have been analyzed. However, in-depth analysis in literature
review helped to find out the gaps in the previous papers. As I was determined that I will use
primary analysis in my proposed research, I chose positivism research philosophy, which
certainly helps to extract the hidden truth from the facts related to the research projects.
Moreover, the positivism research philosophy also provides a broader scope for observation.
Thus, I could compare the facts with the real-world evidences, which would make the research
more relevant and authentic. Likewise, I have selected other relevant research techniques such as
the descriptive research design but altogether, I have gained huge amount of knowledge in
research techniques and the research area. This research project will further help me in my career
development programs. I may use this research project as the supporting materials for my next
research project.
