INTRODUCTION
Business resources refers to the factors of the production which consist of labour & land.
Business resources is the mixture of capital and enterprise. The project report of will outline the
business resources of two companies namely Costa coffee which is a profitable organisation and
save the children which is a Non profit organisation. The Report will go to highlight the
recruitment documentation required in both the business. The report will further outline the
Employability, Personal and communication skills required to apply for a specific job role. The
report will describe the sources of internal and external finance. The report will go interpret the
contents of a trading, profit & loss account and balance sheet. The report will go to outline the
use of budgets as a means of financial control. Lastly the report will go to illustrate the financial
statement of both the business.
TASKS
Profitable Organisation - Costa Coffee
Costa coffee is a British Multinational Coffee-House plc in United Kingdom. The Costa coffee
was founded in the year 1971 about 48 years ago in the London, England. Its headquarters are
situated in the Dunstable, England in United Kingdom. Initially the coffee house was established
by Costa family that carries wholesale operations by supplying the roasted coffee to the caterers
and the specialist Italian coffee shops. Later in the year 1995 the Company was acquired by the
Whitbread. The Company was sold to Coca-Cola company in the year 2019 with a deal worth
£3.9 billion.
Non profit organisation – Save the Children
The Save the Children is an international Non Profit organisation. The Save the Children
Organisation promotes the children Rights and support children in developing countries. The
Save the Children was founded on 15 April 1919 about 99 years ago in United Kingdom. Its
founders were Eglantyne Jebb and Dorothy Buxton. The organisation focus is to improve the
lives of the children through providing better education, heath care facility and through creating
economic opportunities.

Job Advertisement - The Costa Coffee gives notice through putting job advertisement for the
public in order to inform them for job vacancy. The job advertisement includes the job title,
requirements that makes suitable candidate responsible to perform job tasks in Costa Coffee
House.
Job description – The Job description of Costa Coffee explains what skills are necessary required
for candidates to get the vacant job. It describes duties and job responsibility that is required for
a specific job role in the Costa Coffee-House (Galaskiewicz, 2016). The purpose of Job
description is to inform candidates and make them aware what they will be doing if they get job
in Costa Coffee-House.
Person specification – The Person Specification of Costa Coffee-House describes the personal

Coffee-house building – The Costa Coffee-House has open large number of coffee shops and
outlets located all over the globe in order to reach their desired customers segment.
Technological resources
Coffee Machines The Costa Coffee-House requires some coffee machines to run the
organisational operations. Such as a special boiler for steaming and frothing milk, high quality
grinders for heating the beans and spoiling the coffee flavour. The Costa Coffee-House offers
technologies that allow them to sell range of quality coffee types without the need of the staff to
assist their customers.
Computer software – The Costa coffee-house keep track records of customers transactions in
their coffee-house at a vital level (Örnek and Ayas, 2015.). This helps them in stock and
inventory management and in controlling staff and taxes. They use computer software to track
the purchases that allows them to offer loyalty card schemes to their customers.

information on Child protection and Child rights. Health and nutrition supplements are available

The Costa coffee-house funded primary by the company's own cash flow rather than external
financing in capital markets. The Costa coffee-house raise its capital through stock pricing.

The price of stock and the ratings of Wall street influence the value of Costa Coffee house.
Moreover, they raise their money through Equipment funding and property lending (Oudah,
Jabeen and Dixon, 2018). To raise the equity they do crowdfunding. In the crowdfunding they

Profit after tax of the company was $117,778,interest income of $172 was paid by the company
in year 2018. Interest of $6,845 on borrowings was paid by the company in 2018. Total assets of

the company was $243,130 and total liabilities of the company was $365,058 in year 2018
(Annual report, 2018).

outflows. It is beneficial for maintaining finance control in the Costa coffee house (Zott and
Amit, 2015). The cash flow of Costa Coffee-House has considered factors such as an accounts
payable and accounts receivable in order to ensure the company has accesses on enough cash in
hand. For continuing operations of Costa Coffee-House.
Financial budget
The financial budget of Costa Coffee House presents the Company's strategy for maintaining the
cash flow, managing the assets and to maintain indirect expenses. The financial budget insures
the financial health of the coffee-house company and helpful in analysing financial condition of
the business. The financial budgets show total spending relative to the revenue and to operates its
core operations. The Costa Coffee House uses Financial budget to determine the value of the
public stock.
Save the children
Operating Budget
The operating budget helps the Save the children organisation to forecast and analysis the
projected charitable income and to evaluate expenses over the course of specified time duration.

in the year 2018. The revenue has been increased from 7.3 % to 843.3 million in the year 2017.
The revenue growth has been increased to 30 % till march 2018. In the year 2017 the revenue
was noted as $96,686 and CF&l was noted as $4,332. In the financial year 2018 the revenue was
noted as $119,279. The CF&L was noted as $5,680.
Save the children
According to the financial report of Save the children organisation the total income was
generated to $407 in the year 2017 and $405 in the year 2016. The total charitable activities was
done $281 in the year 2017 and $271 in the year 2016. The total donation amount in the year
2017 was $109 and $120 in the year 2016. The other trading activities in the year 2017 was $13
and $10 in the year 2016.

CONCLUSION
The Conclusion is being draw from the above project report of Business resources is that
Business resources is a productive and economic factor for the profit organisation which is Costa
coffee-house and non profit organisation which is Save the children organisation. The efficient
use of Business resources will help the enterprise to achieve desired outcomes. Managing
Business Resource will help the organisation to make efficient use of their land labour and
capital. Business resources helps to generate sources of internal and external finance for both the
organisation. Efficient use of Business resources will help the organisation to achieve its
organisational objectives and goals on time. Through this report it is been concluded that
recruitment documentation like job advertisement, job description, job specification, application
form and offer letter is essentially required to fulfil the documentation process of both the
organisation. The report also concluded that the basic personal skills and communication skills
are required to get the vacant job in both the organisation. The report also conclude that the
Costa coffee-house is having probability in their business portfolio's.
