TASK- Reflection
Part 1 Reflection on own seminar
I feel very happy and glad that I got the opportunity to participate in the seminar which
was led my students. My topic for the seminar was “Family business” wherein the focus on the
reasons to join the family business and what issues does an individual faces when joining the
family business. This seminar contributed in fulfilling its criteria as it represented all the relevant
and important information which was necessary to bring the understanding of the topic. This
seminar helped me in gaining the knowledge about what issues are faced by the people when
they join the family business which includes lack of shared purpose, trust, more of control and
care and many others. The aim of the seminar was fulfilled as my team was successful in
delivering all relevant information to the attendees. My contribution in this seminar was on
discussing about the issues which are faced by individuals when they join the family business
which involved discussion about lack of trust among family members, lack of shared aim of
running business, more of control and less care and the cordial hypocrisy. These issues helped
me in gaining sufficient knowledge while I was able to deliver my information with certain
examples. When I was preparing for this seminar I got the opportunity to understand the role of
manager, leader and family members in taking forward the vision of family business and striking
right balance between business priorities and family relations.
During the preparation of this seminar and at the time of delivering it, I faced many
hurdles and challenges which included firstly the fear of delivering my information in the
appropriate manner as I fumbled in between due to nervousness as I lack confidence while
standing on stage due to stage fear. But I got to overcome this challenge by building my
confidence as I prepared myself thoroughly for the speech. Another challenge which I faced was
fear of delivering sufficient information to the audience in order to make them understand about
the topic. But I managed to make the people understand about the topic firmly and appropriately
with sufficient information and examples from practical lives by framing hypothetical situations.
After seeing the reaction of public at the time of delivering the information, I felt that the
performance at individual and group level was quite progressive as a lot of improvements came

into me while participating in this seminar as I was able to confidently speak in front of large
public without any fear. The loud applaud made me realize that the performance of whole team
was amazing. Moreover when I got the chance to speak to public, they appreciated my work
which made me realized that I did my best. But one thing can make better in future which is to
take the examples of real people in order to convey the people with information as it places good
impression in the minds of listeners and the people are able to grab the information more
accurately and memorize it even faster. Hence, while performing in future, I will make sure that I
will take this approach in delivering my information so that I can fulfill the aim of participating
in seminar.
Part 2 Reflection on other attended seminars
I feel amazed and happy that I got the opportunity to attend the two other seminars so that
I can gain the knowledge of issues in small businesses and entrepreneurship. During the first
seminar which I attended, the topic was “Issues in small business” where the main focus was on
the employee experience which it faces in the HR environment. I learnt that there are 4Fs of
employee experience which includes Form, flow, feeling and function. The participants in this
seminar were able to convey their information in an appropriate manner and the live question
and answer session was initiated by them so that the broad knowledge is gained about the topic.
This showed me that they were well prepared about the topic. The positive thing which happened
in seminar was that I able to gain much more information about this topic then I could have
gained in classroom session. Moreover, this seminar helped me in gaining the knowledge
regarding the experience of employee which it faces at the time of HR environment. But there is
one thing which may have been improved in this seminar was there was lack of practical and real
life examples presented by people in order to convey information. But the overall experience was
quite meaningful. Moreover, one thing which I observed in this seminar was that the participants
were very confident in delivering their information which helped the attendees in keeping their
interest alive. I have learnt to one thing from this seminar that it is important to have confidence
in whatever you speak so that the listeners can take interest and learn from what is being
conveyed.
Another seminar which I attended was on the topic “Six fundamentals which every
entrepreneur needs in order to get success”. In this seminar, I got the opportunity to learn about

the management skills which includes the problem solving, decision making and communication
skills as these helps the entrepreneur to meet their goals before deadline. I also got to learn about
six fundamentals of entrepreneurs which included setting realistic expectations, clear value
preposition, offering unique attributes, identification of niche market, dealing in sound model of
business and attracting customers. These information were delivered in the form of fun activities
and sharing experience of real entrepreneurs who built their empire with the help of these
fundamentals and skills. One thing which I liked at the time of attending this seminar was that
there was thorough knowledge in the participants which helped them to deliver their information.
But there can be one thing which may be improved in this seminar which is that the participants
were less enthusiastic which lacked take the interest of whole audience till the end. The
beginning was quite impressive when one of the participant grab the attention of all by way of
interacting with audience but slowly the enthusiasm was lacking in presenting the information.
Moreover, there is one thing which I got to learnt from this seminar from my observation which
is to keep the interaction alive with audience so that your confidence is maintained and the
audience also takes interest in what is going on the stage. Hence, my experience in attending
both seminars was very good and I feel happy with this opportunity as I learnt a lot from these
seminars right from building my knowledge on topic to how to present my own topic to
audience.
