Reflection Report: Skill Development Plan for Business Analysis

This report presents a reflection on the author's skill development, focusing on the need to enhance financial analysis and research capabilities. The author identifies the importance of ratio analysis and the interpretation of financial data, recognizing a need to improve knowledge of industry standards and data presentation. The goal is to improve research skills and thereby attain goals by enhancing the ability to analyze and present data effectively. This is a comprehensive reflection highlighting the importance of continuous learning and skill enhancement in a business context. The author aims to improve financial analysis and research skills by implementing a strategic plan. The report also emphasizes the use of research and analysis to achieve specific goals and objectives.

RELECTION

With the motive to assess the skill that needs to develop I have followed Gibbs reflective
model that mainly includes six stages. It includes description, feelings, evaluation, analysis,
conclusion and action plan (Forrest, 2008). From assessment, I have found that there is a need to
assess financial position and performance of the company. In this, I assess that for such purpose
skills regarding conducting ratio analysis and evaluating the same with industry averages are
highly required. Hence, by making evaluation of my own skills and capabilities I have identified
that enhancement of knowledge is required in this field. Moreover, I have ability to calculate
ratios by applying appropriate formulas. However, I have no proper knowledge regarding ideal
standards and manner in which analysis of the same needs to be done. Nevertheless, for the
attainment of specific goal there is a need to analyze gathered data set prominently. In addition to
this, graphical presentation of data set is also highly needed to reflect the suitable view of study.
Hence, from assessment I have found that skills regarding such aspect need to be improved.
Earlier, I have faced difficulty in presenting findings in a graphical format. Hence, for this
purpose, I need to make improvement in my research skills which in turn contributes in the goal
attainment significantly. The reason behind this, without having enough skills regarding such
field I would not become able to meet goals. Moreover, research activity helps in assessing and
gathering suitable data set in line with the aims and objectives. In the digitized world, internet
provides with several books, journals, scholarly articles and other sources that helps in collecting
suitable information according to issue (Park and Son, 2011).
For making improvement in research skills, I will try to assess key words that help in
accessing appropriate information. Moreover, key words are the main elements which in turn
contribute in suitable data collection. Thus, for making improvement in research skills I need to
make focus on learning advanced search technique which helps me in collecting appropriate data
set timely. Moreover, time is one of the main aspects that closely influences the significance and
effectiveness of study. Further, for enhancing research skills I need to do analysis of data sources
carefully. This in turn helps in assessing whether concerned data set or information is outdated or
biased (Finlay, 2008). Along with this, I will all review articles that can be undertaken to
improve research abilities. Being a student by taking feedbacks from the professors I can assess
the extent to which research skills are improved over the time frame. Along with this, I will also

request to my tutor in relation to presenting loopholes that still exists in my work. Further, I will
also take suggestions from my tutor for improving my current skills. Hence, such action will
provide high level of assistance to me in improving and strengthening my skills. Thus, by taking
all the above mentioned action and strategies I would become able to enhance my research skills
and thereby attain goals.
