INTRODUCTION
Business skills play a vital role in shaping business to generate better performance. It helps
the organizations to achieve successful heights. Business needs to manage effectively and
efficiently with great skills to increase the productivity and profitability. The report studies contrast
appeal of articles provided to study. Every article is written in certain approach or style for different
category of audiences (Crocker, 2012). This makes all the articles different from each other and
generates reader’s attractiveness towards reading them. Present research is based on analysing
different writing styles used by authors in provided three articles.
TASK 1
Article 1:
Article 1 used narrative style of writing i.e. it was trying to brief a story to the reader. The
main target audience of this article were the educated adults. This writing brought a positive effect
on the audience which was evidenced from reviews of the articles received. Use of quotations, facts
and figures was very impressive as it helped the reader to find evidence to support the phenomenon
(Germak, 2014). There were many places where quotations were used. It proposed that the authors
Hrading, Olterman, and Watt tried to make article more approachable with the use of live instances.
This article brought a sort of detailed narration and almost every aspect of refugee crisis was
attached to it. All the factors like political significance, facts and numbers, and media attention
towards the situation were very well explained. Article was found useful for people who wanted a
detailed story about “what” and “how”, factors affecting refugees in migration.
Article 2:
The target audience of this article are conservatism’s of any age. There is no relevant barrier
to age while reading this article. The main aim of article was to attract readers to liberate idea of
political and social conservatism in the society. This article used persuasive writing style and relied
on specific detailing of facts and figures. Saunders, writer of article tried his very best to persuade
readers to agree with him on his statistics on migration and refugees. Writing was very clear and
precise and author knew exactly what had to be served to the readers. The effect of writing style
was very much convincing and attractive though being precise and short. Use of quotations was
appropriate (Lin, Wang and Wang, 2013). Although they were very less in number as the article's
length was a little short. Quotation made the article look more realistic. As facts were used in a very
direct manner, it made the article impressive and generated attractiveness to further read the article.

It was able to provide evidence but lacked in generating details about the situational crisis faced by
refugees.
Compare and Contrast:
Both the articles provided a different aspect of the situation. The article “Refugees
welcome? How UK and Germany compare on migration” presented a different scenario of the
issues as compared to “The human tide moving this way: Fury and fighting as rail station is closed
to migrants”. The first article tried to be significant and detailed about all the factors affecting
situation in Syria (World Vision Staff, 2015). In the other article, major issue of non availability of
transport for the migrants was idolized. Both the articles though focused on refugees problems but
altogether had a different approach. The first article was lengthy and very much descriptive as
compared to other article which was presented in a very brief and short manner. This narrative style
used by authors in article one, was somewhere over the board. It was way too much detailed and
reader on one point started losing interest for the article. Writing skills were appreciable but lacked
in attracting the focus of reader towards it. However, article 2 was short and had less information
than article 1. It provided effectiveness in the manner it was presented (Quick facts: What you need
to know about the Syria crisis, 2016). The author was successful in attracting and holding readers
attention towards the article.
Another major difference to contrast was the targeted audience who were aimed by both the
articles. Article 1 tried to attract customers who were indented to take knowledge about the
phenomenon. They were not bothered to get proactive about the problems faced by the refugees. In
contrast to this, article 2 aimed in attracting and educating its readers about the situation that the
refugees are currently in. Article 2 had a objective to boost readers knowledge and to force the
reader to get provoked (Hawks and et.al., 2015). Provoking the reader created an emotional threat
between the authors writing and reader. It can be said that article 2 was short but generated more
effectiveness than article 2. This is also evident from the writing skills used by authors in both the
article. Though both articles cater to different readers still they met on attracting readers about the
Mediterranean refugee crisis.
TASK 3
As per Matthew Hancock, individuals under the age of 25 do not fit to get wages than the
people over the age of 25. He considers individual below 25 years of age to be non productive than
their seniors. The present article highlights about giving low wages to these individuals in order to
promote wage cut (Graham and et.al., 2012). The minister could not find relevant evidence to
support wage cut and thus decided to state that individual under 25 years age are non productive.
There is no clear explanation provided by the article to support this fact. The article though presents
some facts and figures but lacks in promoting the fact of non productivity.

I disagree to the opinion of the cabinet minister Matthew Hancock, as he deliberately states
that the individuals are not productive. This is not considered ideal for any country. As most
individual, below the age of 25, are most hard working and have the most in generating innovative
ideas to support their economy. For instance Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, became among
the youngest entrepreneurs to become a multi millionaire in a tender age. Sean Belnick a famous
business personality started his venture at the age of 14. And today, he has an estimated worth of
$50 million of property and is the proud owner of BizChair (Spartz and Weber, 2015). On the other
hand, another example is of Matt Mullenweg, who is the owner of the blogging site, Word Press.
His estimated worth is $40 million, and his business venture is very famous.
Young workforce is considered to be effective to generate productivity in the organisation.
They represent future of the country. An average individual finishes his/her studies by the age of 21
and is employed by the end of 21 years. This implies that individuals are able to apply their
knowledge at a much effective way than the employees who have crossed the dimension of 25 years
(Taylor and Munning, 2012). They have better techniques to apply their knowledge towards the
organisation. They have fresh and talented ideas which help the company to increase its growth
potentials. There are thousands of examples of individuals who stood to become the most influential
start-ups or entrepreneurs for the world. This shows that people at a young age, precisely below 25,
have a better approach to take initiative and action. Influence of family is lesser on the individuals
below the age 25 as compared to people above 25. They have lesser responsibility to be fulfilled
which is higher on account of individuals above 25 years of age. Employees, who have crossed 25,
are overly burdened with some or the responsibility. In contrary to same, the other group is much
more free minded and relaxed from social pressures (Nackaerts and et.al., 2013). Thus, it can be
evaluated from the above stance that they can prove to be more productive for the organisation than
the employees of age 25 or more.
Another major difference between below 25 age group individuals and above is that, prior
have zeal to work and participate to growth of the organisation. As they are young, they can be
groomed in a better way than the experienced employees. It is observed that later is rigid to any
change which is been brought by the management in the firm. Young individuals have improved
skills and they generate more precision in work, as they feel highly responsible to shape their
carrier. The individual above age 25 years lack in precision. It is because they feel it is important
only to complete their daily task in order to stay attached to basics. They do not apply any extra
effort to generate expertise due to lethargic situation that occurs over the time. Moreover,
individuals below age 25 are highly advanced to understand the new technological advancements.
They have skilled knowledge about the technology, which is creating landmarks. On the contrary,
individual above the age of 25, are not expertise to handle heavy technological bagged task. There

is huge difference from their educational background and the prior is embarked with the latest
management techniques the former is already out of touch with education or learning (Lin, Wang
and Wang, 2013). Thus, it can be strongly critiqued that employees below age 25 are equally or in
many stances better than the one above age 25.They must not be discriminated on the basis of age
and wage.
CONCLUSION
In a crux, it can be said that, it is important to write in a skilled and proper manner. Each
writing skill creates a different impression on the reader. It is in the hands of the writer to generate
positivity or negativity through the articles. It can be also said that the article must not deviate from
the topic to promote effective reading for the reader. From the above report, it was found that
writing skills can pursue the reader to understand what the writer is exactly trying to imply. Thus, to
conclude it is important for the writer to use effective writing skills to attract readers’ attention.
