This report will be containing the requirement of the professional and academic skills
development and the reason for being the necessary aspect for building a career in business
management. There will be a elaboration of the challenges of studying business management and
thriving the professional practice in this field and it will be having the explanation of the importance
of the effective academic and professional skills development which helps the individual and as
well as the members of the team along with that this report will be having 7 major effective team
working kills which will be an asset for the team which would lead the team for the maximum
growth for the project of the company and the enhancement in the business.
LO 1 - CHALLENGES OF STUDYING BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
AND THRIVING IN PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE :
Making a career in the field of business management has it's own perks like high income
from the job and the ready job market etc. Though there are some disadvantages of this field as well
and some of the major demerits of studying business management are :
TIME MANAGEMENT : There are a lot of things that has been done by the student of the
business management , they have to attend the seminars , lectures , meetings , conferences and
activities etc. along with that they have to make the assignments , presentations and project reports
in this field and this is not all as they have to take out time for their personal and group studies or
time for their personal skill development. Student do not manage their time properly while doing all
of these tasks and because of this it becomes challenging for the student to complete the tasks
before the dead line (MitchellLarry,2021).
ADJUSTMENT AND BALANCE : Students usually feels imbalance in their personal life as they
move far from their home town , they feel disruption in adjusting themselves in the new
surroundings
CONNECTIONS : It is one of the most essential part of studying the business management as
student can make new connections in the new place , working together in a team might help them
meeting people and make connections but some students might not feel the same way and lack the
skills of making connections and being adaptable because of the trust issues or having the lack of

good measure for enhance their public speaking skills.
TIME MANAGEMENT can be a tool through which the students can divide their time which
would be helping them to have a balance with their work and that would lead them to have a spare
time for doing their other tasks for their development(Mendling el. at.,2018).
WRITTING SKILLS is the key method through which student enhance their writing as they get a
lot of assignments and note writing.
CREATIVITY enhance automatically as they have to make projects and research on the various
topics for making the different reports it helps the student to be more creative in their work.
IMPROVES LEARNING in the different field where these academic skills which influence the
behaviour of the students.
CRITICAL THINKING is a skills which student tend to develop in the time of studying the

COMMUNICATION : It plays an vital role in the efficiency of the team and individual are
required to communicate in an proper and clear way for the basic understanding of the work and

that would be leading the individual for being more confident in having the conversation with the

TIME MANAGEMENT : It is vital to manage the time at the working place and by having the
professional skills the student tends to amplify the skills of time management as they have to do a
lot of task in a day of a different field.
FLEXIBILITY : Individual often develop the habit of flexibility as that individual have to work in
the teams and with other members of the team with different work hours so there will be a
enhancement in their profession skills of having the flexibility.
LO 3 - EFFECTIVE TEAM WORKING SKILLS :
Teamwork is one of the most powerful aspect which could enhance or decrease any project of the
business and turning that team work in the favour has some crucial points like knowing about the
strength and ideas of the individuals of the team. As a leader of the team one should know
everything about the team for the successful team work which require positive behaviour of the
team and an environment where people could bring out their best for the business. There are 7 most
important skills which helps in having the effective team :
1) COMMUNICATION : It is non negotiable skill which is required for any of member of
the team despite the fact whether it is a leader or a member of the team as having a
miscommunication can lead to the failure of a project and having a strong communication
with the team can results as a success of team project. The ability to share the information
without hesitation is essential in a workplace to have a strong communication between the
team members that could enhance the affectivity of the team(Ahmed,2019).
2) COLLABORATION : This is the essential skills of the team work as it makes the team
stronger in terms of having the positive results from the team. Though , putting random
people in one team doesn't mean the effectiveness of the team but they need to know about
the skills and responsibilities of every team member so that they would be able to assign
them the task they are good at and give them the responsibility which could impact and help
the company to grow by their results(Kowalski,2018).
3) SETTING GOAL : The requirement of the goals is very necessary for having the measure
results for the company and making the individuals understand the goals of the project

which will be evaluating the success rate of the project and will make a clear vision for the
team for working effectively.
4) DECISION MAKING : There are several opinions in the team but the making the decision
is very vital part for the team to have a effective team work as without the decision it could
lead to the failure of the project and effective team decision do have the potential to raise the
quality of the team work.
5) PROBLEM SOLVING : Having the deep understanding of the problem could solve many
things for the team and it is a skill which is required in a very critical situation of the
business and if team has a skills of problem solving can lead to saving team by not getting
stuck in the crux of the problem and solving it in a time from where they could recover the
loss(Figgers,2020).
6) EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE : Having an emotional balance is required for working
in a team for having a effective team as members of the team might feel pressurised which
can effect the work of the people and downfall the effectiveness of the work. Therefore ,
emotional balance has been a key point in having a effective team building in the workplace.
7) GROWTH MINDSET : There is a confirmation that team will fail in certain tasks and on
that situation having a growth mindset can make the team members see the problems as their
opportunity for growing as the people who have a growth mindset learn from their past
experiences and does not repeat the same mistake every time(FreitasAlmendra,2021).

As per this report it has been concluded that there are a lot challenges in studying the
business management from management of time to adjusting and balancing with a change and to
have a effective career in a business management one need to have the academic skills and the
importance of having the academic skills is important as it would improve the learning and

also very important to for having the effective career in business management which includes
communication , leadership and time management etc. These have the individual roles in the team
