INTRODUCTION
Business skills is the capability and skills to carry out complex activities in order to reach
greater heights. Business skills consist of effective communication, management skills, time
management, problem solving, leadership, delegation, planning, networking, etc.
This study will highlight, strengths, weakness, opportunity and threat. This study also
helps in determining employability and academic skills which helps in developing the necessary
desired skills for future success and development of Hotel industry.
MAIN BODY
SWOT analysis
SWOT analysis is a matrix which helps in strategic planning and evaluation of the
strengths and weakness of the person in order to identify and evaluate the strengths, weakness,
opportunity and threat (de Jager and Brown, 2016, September). It helps in critically examining
the internal and external factors which affect the efficiency and productivity of the individual.
SWOT analysis helps in better understanding of the particular situation.
Strengths: I have evaluated that in order to get employment in hotel industry, I must
possess effective business skills in order to give desired results and outcomes. I have effective
organizational and management skills in order to take strategic decision in order to reach greater
heights (Quinlan and et.al., 2019). I also have effective time management and planning skills to
carry out the function in an efficient and systematic manner. I am friendly, patients, creative,
motivating, honest, punctual, discipled, consistent and detailed oriented which helps me in
performing the task with utmost accuracy. I have effective problem solving, decision making and
team management skills which helps in solving complex activity and take strategic decision to
solve the problem effectively. I also possess great networking skills in order to build strong
customer relation for the hospitality industry.
Weakness: The major weakness is that I am disorganized which leads to ineffective
results and outcomes at the workplace. I am too perfect to carry out certain activities, which
sometimes create a chaos and results in delayed decision making. I am very shy at speaking
publicly which results in ineffective communication (Assiter, 2017). I have problem in
delegating work to the juniors and being to critique for the work performed by other individual.
Opportunity: I have an opportunity to improve the communication skills which helps in
performing the various activities effectively. I have wide range of opportunity to meet new

people which helps in building strong relation for the hotel industry (Important Business Skills
for Workplace Success, 2019). I have the opportunity to improvise my presentation skills in order
to deliver the best services to the customers and it also helps in future growth and development
of the hotel industry. I will also develop some practical skills by gaining insight from some real
life situation. I have the opportunity to boost up my confidence by developing effective various
effective skills (Rey-Martí, Porcar and Mas-Tur, 2015). I also focus on increasing my flexibility
and delegating work to others which helps me to focus on more important activities.
Threat: The major threat is change in legal and employment law which affect the
employability of the hotel industry. Integration of new and advanced technology leads to hiring
of more prospective and talented customer who have the desired skills to perform the particular
job. Domestic obligation and accidental illness is also a major threat to the hotel industry which
affect the operational efficiency (Silbiger, 2016). Lack of sleep leads to lower operational
performance and productivity. Ineffective relationship is also a major threat to the individual
which adversely affect the hotel company.
Personal Development Plan
Personal Development Plan (PDP) is a process which helps in creating an effective action
plan in relation to values, reflection, goal setting, planning, personal development, values,
reflection, awareness, formulation of plan which eventually helps in self improvement and
development of effective skills. Furthermore, I will summarize the key areas which will help in
attainment of desired goals and objectives. In order to achieve the desired goal I will focus on
attainment of both short term as well as, long term goals.
I have depicted areas of skills and development in order to attain short term goal and objectives.
Formulation of plan: I will focus on development of desired skills in order to attain
higher operational goals and objectives (Rey-Martí, Porcar and Mas-Tur, 2015). I will develop
various strategic plan in order to deliver better results and outcomes.
Prioritization and setting deadlines: I will focus on understanding my key area of
interest and prioritize various activities to develop necessary skill within stipulated time.
Completion of graduation assignment: I will focus on submitting my assignment before
deadline and successfully score high in the exams. I will schedule the time in order to avoid last
minute stress over work.
I have depicted areas of skills and development in order to attain long term goal and objectives.

Effective communication skills: I will develop effective communication skills which
helps in speaking openly and express my view points to the others with accuracy. It helps in
building confidence which helps in attainment of desired goals (Pollack and Adler, 2016).
Effective managerial and presentation skills: Effective presentation skills helps in
toning up the body language and presentation skills. Building of management skills helps in
strategic decision making and helps in understanding the business structure accurately. It also
helps in adapting to various environmental factors which results in higher standards.
Accounting and financial skills: I have to develop good understanding about the laws,
standards and regulations which helps in attainment of higher operational goals. These skills will
help in analysis of cost and budgeting in order to perform with utmost accuracy.
Higher education: I will enrol to post graduation program in order to develop necessary
skills which helps in future growth and higher career opportunities.
Academic skills
Academic skills is a process of organizing and learning new and effective skills and
information in order to fill the gaps on the particular subject matter. It helps in retaining effective
information in order to develop key business skills.
My current Academic Skills:
Reading proficiency: I have clear set of reading goal by effectively prioritizing the study
material (Bruwer and Smith, 2018). I have an interest to read about the particular subject in
detail.
Time management and organizing skills: I focus on formulating a detailed plan in order
to determine how much time to spend on which activity. It helps me in scheduling the plan and
prioritize important task.
Critical and analytical thinking capability: I have the capability to break down complex
down by segregating each components (5 academic skills to prepare your students for higher
education, 2018). It helps in better analysis, interpretation and evaluation of the information.
Interpersonal and problem solving skills: I have good interpersonal skills which mainly
includes teamwork, motivation, patience, flexibility, responsibility and delegating (Pollack and
Adler, 2016). I also have effective problem solving skills and have the capability to find the best
solution to the problem.

Presentation skills: I have to develop effective presentation skills which helps in
enhancing my confidence and maintain strong relation with others. It helps in clearly expressing
my viewpoints to others.
Communication skills: I have to develop effective communication skills both written and

without delaying in decision making and to create a positive impact on others.
Employability skills
Employability skills are the set of certain attributes, skills, capability and knowledge
possessed by the employees in order to deliver best results in order to attain higher operational

have also designed as effective PDP plan in order to attain higher organizational and individual
goals in a systematic and efficient manner. I have also concluded various academic skills which I
already possess and also evaluate the academic skills which are need to be developed. I have also
concluded various employability skills which I already possess and also examine the
employability skills which are need to be developed. I have examined that, continuous reviewing
of PDP helps in attainment of short tern and long term goals.
