INTRODUCTION
In the first task of report, two different news articles are involved which depict one single
issue in different ways. The first article discusses about the most shocking thing regarding Calais
jungle which states that there are various issues faced by refugees and thus, it is not easy to solve
them. It also analyzes the issues faced by people in Beirut, Lesbos and Calais. Here, problems
faced by migrants in the refugee camps have been discussed as they are not getting any kind of
help from either French or British government (Germak, 2014). On the other side, second article
says about the way in which Calais is improving their condition on their own by fighting from
the deficiencies and the jungle or migrant camp has been converted into a mini city that involves
restaurants, free Wi-Fi, theatre, books shops and many more.
TASK 1: COMPARING AND CONTRASTING BOTH THE ARTICLES
As per the evaluation of both the articles, it states that author undertakes two different
approaches while describing the situation of Calais refugee camp. The writer while describing
the first article focuses on the issues faced by people within refugee camp in the jungle. It also
discusses about no effective measure taken by the France or British government in order to
overcome the problem. Author uses very complex language in first article as compared to second
article (Fleckenstein and Seeleib-Kaiser, 2011). First article describes about the condition of
people in the refugee camps and no protection has been given to children in regard to their health
and food. Here, author describes the condition of Dunkirk and state that the condition is much
worse as compared to Calais. In Dunkirk, there is no proper shelter provided to refugees as well
as there are no sanitation facilities for people which results in bad health and certain diseases.
Also, it has been noticed that British government officials are not taking any serious action over
the problem of Calais because they are saying that it is the French country and if they intervene
in between the situation, it might become worst (Weaver, 2011).
Author also describes the survival of refugees where crisis is closest to the shores and
there is no one to overcome people from such problem. Individuals living in such camps do not
get proper food and thus they suffer from different diseases such as cold, flu etc. They also face
problems such as exploitation, sexual violence, wars and disputes etc. At the end, writer states
that it is essential for both French and Britain government to mutually understand the problem
and take action in order to overcome the issue (Howe, 2016). However, it is a moral

responsibility not to turn back while providing comprehensive solution so that people can live
better life.
The second article discusses about the transformation that happens in Calais from a
jungle camp into a mini city. It has been assessed that there are various shops for shopping and
people used to wait thereto be smuggled illegally out of France to live a better life in Britain. It is
an informal style of writing and author also uses simple language to carry out the article. Calais
has grown into a self contained mini city that involves restaurants, libraries, hotels, night club
but still people are trying to migrate to asylum in Britain (Reinisch, 2015). Overall, the jungle
camp stated to be a mini city that involves theatre, art gallery and night club that serves beer. It
also involves mosques and churches in the camp which is decorated by excellent paintings of
angels. Author describes about improving living conditions in refugee camps as different charity
organizations are taking concern of such people and provide them food, medicines, clothes and
other necessary items. Also, there has been a different food shop that sells food and cigarettes to
people as per their needs. But still people are trying to smuggle in Britain in order to start a new
life (Davies and Isakjee, 2015).
Thus, through comparing both the scenarios, it can be evaluated that the first article is
describing the issues faced the refugees while living in the Calais jungle camps. It creates
various problems for them to survive in such conditions. While, in the second article, author
states that the condition of Calais jungle camps is overcoming and its growth has been started
there (Bhutta, 2016). This develops jungle camp into a mini city. There exists, shops, restaurant,
hotels, churches, mosques, theatre and night club. But still, writer empathizes upon that the
people of refugee camps who are dreaming to smuggle themselves from France to Britain in
order to live a better life. The first article was written in a formal manner describing the worst
condition of Calais and using difficult vocabulary regarding the problems among British and
France government (White, 2015). On the other hand, the second article is written in a more
informal manner as author uses simple language in regard to describe the development and
growth of the Calais jungle to a mini city. Thus, it assesses their living condition but still author
raises the consequences that people are dreaming of migrating to Britain in order to live a
healthier life. It has been evaluated that the second article was found more balanced in view of
regarding the developing condition of Calais jungle and overcoming the problems faced by

refugees. Also, there has been given wide range of facilities such as free wifi, theatre, night club,
restaurants and hotels etc. in order to give better life to people (Bullard, 2015).
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it can be concluded that through comparing both the articles, it
evaluates the problems faced by people living in refugee camps within Calais. However, the
government of France and Britain are not trying to come together in order to overcome the
problem. In the first article, it states that there are various problems in Calais jungle and people
are suffering from health and food problems. Furthermore, in the second article, it states that
transformation is carried out within Calais jungle in order to become a mini city. It provides
better facilities for people such as theatre, libraries, night club, etc.

In order to write a effective CV it takes 4 basic rules i.e. write it yourself, keep it in brief,

TASK 3 MYTH: GLOBAL WARMING, ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM
Through undergoing the given article on 'Myth: Global Warming, Environmental Racism
is a fake statement. Evaluating the article it has been assessed that global warming is not the
cause of prevailing diseases. There are several environmentalists who are blaming that people
are suffering from asthma because of environmental racism. No government either Obama or
Clinton is aiming to create environmental racism that states that affecting the environment and
placing minority communities in that area in order to affect their health (Martinez-Alier, 2014).
Government is in favor of following environmental justice so that good living conditions can be
provided to people. It has been assessed that asthma is the disease that is caused by heredity or
different factors such as smoking, exposure to second hand smoking, women smoking while
pregnant etc. are the major causes of asthma. However, air pollution is not the cause of asthma
attack. Therefore, environmentalists are required to do not mix Civil Rights Movement with
Global Warming Movement and make it a serious issue as both these are not same thing.
However, there has been no way to prevent asthma it can only be overcome through developing
a step by step plan for living with the condition and preventing asthma attacks (Dickinson,
2012).
While, it is wrong that environmentalists claims that air pollution created by industries
are the major cause of asthma. However, there are varied risk factors that state that it increases
the chances of individual to developing asthma. It involves blood relatives i.e. parent or sibling
having a similar illness such as being overweight, smoker, exposure to second hand smoking,
mother who smoked while pregnant, exposure to fumes etc. causes asthma. Thus, all these are
the causes that occurs asthma attack for individual. However, global warming and air pollution is
not the culprit that causes asthma. However, the air ozone layers are decreasing on a yearly basis
(Mascarenhas, 2012). While, the asthma levels are increasing at a high speed. Then, global
warming is not the cause of the disease. However, our medical industry is not able to overcome
the problem of asthma. Thus, it can be stated that there is no correlation between asthma and our
climate as it is continuously improving due to enhanced technology and discipline. There is no
connection between diseases and environment racism. It is a myth. Above all US is practicing
highly in order to improve its environment while the environmentalists are continuing hurting
the industries and forcing them to reduce their production as it affects the economic prowess
(Schlosberg, 2013).

Environmentalists are the major factor that affects the progress of country and thus
stopping millions of potential job and thousands of new businesses to start up and contribute
towards economic development of the nation. Environmentalists are focusing upon reducing the
carbon footprint that means that a lesser economy, fewer jobs, smaller military to defend
ourselves and protect the peace in the world. Environmentalists are also focusing upon in order
to slowing down our economy and make the country vulnerable. There are several other
countries such as China, India and Russia who are causing wide range of pollution in the world
and don't care about it. But the environmentalists are focusing upon US as it has high economic
growth (Cutts and et. al., 2016). Also, country is using improved technology in order to do not
affect the land, air and water.
Thus, it can be analyzed from the article that global warming is not the cause of
environmental racism. It is a fake statement and environmentalists who protest against the
government due to causing high global warming by carrying out industrial revolution are not
protecting the environment and thus people are facing health issues. Asthma is not a curable
disease because our medical industry is not able to find the medicine to overcome the disease
(Malley, Scroggins and Bohon, 2012). While, it is not caused by air pollution therefore,
environmentalists are not required to carry out Global Warming Movement in order affect the
economy of the country. Because through carrying out such movement it affects the growth of
the nation. Environmentalists states that because of increasing industry revolution it causes air
pollution and thus it affects the health of individual causing them asthma. While, it has been
assessed that asthma is caused by several other factors and it is not caused by air pollution.
Environmental racism is not the cause of global warming. Industries of US are using innovative
technology in order to protect their environment and attain economic growth (Cooper, 2016).
CONCLUSION
In this part of the report, it has been assessed that global warming is a myth of
environmental racism and it does not affect the people that are suffering from asthma. However,
asthma disease has been occurring among individuals due to different actions such as passive
smoking, smoking while pregnancy, obesity, etc.
