Definition for business
I define business as a business enterprise engaged in various commercial, professional
and industrial activities. There are mainly two types of business organizations that is profit
making organizations and nonprofit making organizations. The business gets involves in
different activities and efforts to sell the products and services in the target market. The primary
functions of business are to exchange goods and services for money (Volkov & Volkov, 2015). I
believe that business organizations have certain responsibility towards the community, society
and the environment in which it operates its business activities. The businesses organizations
contribute to the economic develop of the country and ensure fuller utilization of resources. They
enhance the quality of life and standards of living among the people, by fulfilling the lives of the
people in the society. Development of business organizations in the country ensures self
dependence and self reliance (Coleman, 2015).
Reason for choosing the course
My past experience has enabled me to get me this far in life. However, I believe that only
past experience alone is not enough for the chosen career. In the fast paced business
environment, management theories, strategies and other related insights are equally essential to
develop successful careers. The management course is designed to provide a broader overview of
businesses and enables students to have better understanding on where we prefer to go. In
today’s highly competitive business environment, understanding different management roles,
financial side and marketing side is of prime importance. As I have a dream of starting my own
business organization, I believe that a professional course on management will help me to gain
the required insights and knowledge for building up a business organization.
Past experience and interest in this area

My past working experience has influenced me to take up a professional management
studies at Torrens University. The work experience that I gathered from the workplace has
helped me to gain interest over the management course. I have previously worked as an intern in
a business organization; I was given responsibility to lead a particular project. I will able to
effectively lead my team members in the business organization and execute the project within the
given deadline. I was highly appreciated by my seniors and they suggested me to opt for a
management course. This experience has enabled me to gain interest in this area.
How did experience prepare me for this course?
The workplace experience that I had in my past will help me to complement academic
studies. The studies from the classroom will help me to understand the theories and concept of
management and apply them in my future career planning. It will provide me with important
knowledge, skills, and other attributes which are crucial for leading a group of people. I also look
forward to learn other value skills such as team working, effective communication, and problem
solving. I believe that the course will help me to demonstrate the skills and attributes which will
give me a real advantage. The past experience that I had will provide me with different
perspective and context for classroom learning. This will help me to develop the chosen career
and provide me with an opportunity to develop insights about the ways in which I can develop a
business and effective manage its operations.
How to ensure that required outcomes are met
In order to ensure that the required outcomes are met, I will set certain measurable skills,
attributes, and knowledge which will be demonstrated at the management course (Department
for Education, 2014). This learning outcome will enable me to understand the management
programme well. I expect to learn specific management models, theories, and skills. These are

both measurable and achievable in nature. These learning outcomes will be aligned with the
given curriculum of the course. This will also help me to set learning goals effectively. At the
end of the course I expect to gain knowledge and understanding regarding the ways in which I
can manage and lead an organization. It requires specific skills and attributes which I expect to
met during the classes. Different projects, assignments, and group works will further enhance my
ability and skill to work with diverse culture people in the team (Sarrab et al., 2013).
Ways to manage and monitor the studies to a successful conclusion
I will manage and monitor my progress in learning by analyzing the grades that I
received in different projects and presentations. Professor’s feedback will be helpful for me to
take a look at my progress and process. The feedback provided by my peers and professors will
also helps me to determine the progress and my improvement in the learning material (Smith,
2014). At the end of the course, the grade evolution on each test will help me to monitor and
manage successful conclusion.
Ways in which the studies might be applied in the future life
The studies and the learning from this course will help me to gain significant overview on
the realities of business. As I have very little experience in the past, this management study will
enable me to gain various industry insights. It is believed that having a stringer foundation on
education which helps to run a successful business (Stenberg et al., 2016). By the end of this
course, I will become an effective team player and successful business manager. By applying the
studies and learning, I will be able to effective handle and manage people in my organization.
