Gap Analysis
1. Review of current system
The present system of The South Dakota Department of Labor, Workers’ Compensation
division is one of the systems that are devoted upon maintaining the records of the
employees who have been injured during their course of job. The system is analogous in
nature and is manually driven for which it has become extremely difficult for the section of
the company to maintain the insights of the injuries that the employees have been affected
with one time or the other during the course of his job (Dukić 2013).
2. Requirements for the proposed system
The requirements of the proposed system or the system that is required to replace the old
system of the manually driven information system requires a robust system accompanied by
a solidity in the framework of the same. It should be kept in mind by the authority that
before the implementation of the new management information system, all the perquisites
including the arrangement of the online databases and the infrastructure of a reliable cloud
computing service is comfortably arranged before the implementation of the services
(Tomás and Tordsson 2013). Otherwise, during the implementation of the system a lot of
discrepancy may creep up.
3. Comparison
The difference in both the resources and the performance level of the traditional system and
the modern system is quite notable considering the level of their assistance to the
organisation. The old system was manually driven which required the deployment of the
considerable workforce. On the other hand, the proposed system is entirely dependent on

technology for which the workflow would be highly reduced. The proposed system would
include the involvement of a cloud based infrastructure and an array of online databases
with high security (Rong, Nguyen and Jaatun 2013).

Department of Labor, Workers’ Compensation division was suffering a lot of difficulties in
maintaining the steady flow of work as the system had become old enough and was no
longer being able to the meet the purposes of the organisation. Thus, it was high the time
that the organisation had to invest on a new management system that would handle their
pressure and serve their purpose thereby providing a natural boost to the company.

organisation and be served with the necessary beneficiaries, the company should invest on

requirements providing a boost to the company.
