INTRODUCTION
Communication is process of exchange of information between several individuals
through specific channels for effective and smooth operation of business. BusinessUnited is
private college based in London that is recently facing challenges related to teaching material to
students and staff member. In respect of adapting to new ways of learning so that they acquire
plenty of knowledge and get higher success in future circumstances. This report has highlighted
crucial points related to theories of organizational communication and their respective barriers
and strategies to overcome them.
ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
General theories of organizational communication
Organization communication refers to sending and receiving of message among various
individuals that are working in the organizations so that several tasks can be easily completed in
best possible manner. There are various things that needs to be communicated within company
likewise roles and responsibilities that need to be completed by specific individuals or rules and
regulation that they need to follow while completing the task (Johnston and et.al., 2020). There
are various theories related to organizational communication that can be illustrated as follows:
Adaptive structuration theory: It is one of the theory that explained the way information will
be flow in the organization that is from top management to subordinates that are working in the
firm. Quality of organization structure affects on flow of information and decision that needs to
be taken by particular individuals. So, designing of effective structure contribute in smooth flow
of information thereby other people or receiver can understand.
Communication accommodation theory: It is another theory of communication which
illustrate that people adjust the style of communication as per receiver so that it can easily
understand in best possible manner. Two different styles can be changed by individual in order
to share information to others such verbal and nonverbal styles. Therefore, the person make use
of verbal styles in order to communicate with people that have good listening skills. While non
verbal for people that can easily understand through graphs and diagram.
Attribute communication theory: This is also one of the communication theory that specified
that people needs to share information to others on basis of attribute or characteristic of person.
Thus, the sender by understanding the attribute, understanding and listening capabilities of

individuals take decision to communicate necessary information to others. So, overall this theory
emphasis the way receiver think and behave thereby specific method can be used to
communicate necessary information to it for better outcome.
Social learning theory: It is the communication theory in which people learn by observing
attitude, reactions and behaviors of others. Therefore, it state that individual learn by seeing and
analyzing the way other learn things from each others (Mayfield, Mayfield and Walker, 2020).
Thereby BusinessUnited by making use of social learning theory can provide knowledge related
to lesson to many students at single time.
So, all these are general communication theory which could be used by staff member of
BusinessUnited in order to provide necessary knowledge and information to students.
Evaluate the Barriers of communication at BusinessUnited
From the above study and analysis it can be stated that there are several barriers of
communication that are faced by BusinessUnited in context of online lecture that has yield
problem in learning abilities of students. So, the common barriers that are faced by company in
recent scenario related to online class can be explained as follows:
Technical barriers: It is one of the most common barrier that has been faced by staff member of
BusinessUnited while handling and managing online classes in order to teach students. Such as
some time there are poor WiFi network that lead students in missing few parts related to the
lesson. Thus, they are unable to reconnect whatever has been teach by the lecturer within the
classroom (Shipunova and et.al., 2017). At the same time there are many teachers that make use
of old laptops and PC in order to teach lessons to students that create problem in loading.
Therefore, it can be stated that the BusinessUnited is facing technical barriers.
Physical barriers: Another communication barriers is physical as there are numerous students
that are feeling uncomfortable as they have to sit for longer time at the screen. Moreover, it leads
in creating headache of students because they have to spent most of their time in using computer
to attend the lecture.
Noise barriers: There are various disturbance and noise in online class, as there are few students
that constantly interrupt Zoom lecturer or create fun, noise. Thus, it leads in difficult for lecturer
to share information to students thereby they are not able to focus on the topics that are teach by
him/her. So, it can be evaluated that noise or disturbance made by various students lead barriers
in effective communication (van Schaik and et.al., 2018).

Culture barriers: BusinessUnited is also facing culture communication barriers in the online
classes as there are students that belong to different culture, belief and values or have their own
language. There are some students that have recently travelled to England and are homesick so
they are familiar with different languages.
Emotional barriers: It is barriers related to emotional mindset of receivers as well as senders
while certain information is communicated to them. Online classes has result student in feeling
more isolated as they are unable to interact with their peers ones and get more bored while
staying at home (Uppal, 2019). So, Strategies needs to be made by teachers to provide a
environment in classes where they can have interaction so that they can enjoy the session and
grasp the knowledge in better manner.
Outline company strategies to overcome these barriers
There are different strategies that could be used by company in order to overcome the
various barriers so that student can easily learn new things and enhance their existing knowledge
and capabilities. The way BusinessUnited can overcome communication barriers can be stated as
follows:
Using proper language: The first and foremost strategies that could be used by staff member of
BusinessUnited in order to teach students about the lesson is use of proper language. Staff
member in order to remove culture and language barriers needs to ensure that they make use of
more simple language. Thus, language to which students are not familiar will not be used so that
each and every one can understand the lesson in better manner (Raitskaya and Tikhonova,
2020).
To take feedback from students: The another strategies that has been planned in order to
overcome is that lecturer in online classes needs to encouraged students to give their respective
feedback. They should be encouraged to share their respective doubts and queries related to the
lesson that are taught in the class. So, that their doubts can be easily resolves and student can
easily adapt to new learning styles or methods.
Use of use technology or better internet connection: BusinessUnited in order to remove
technical communication barriers needs to provide teachers or staff members with new laptop
and better WIFI connection (Ibekwe-SanJuan, 2018). So, that classes can be continued without
any interruptions and students can easily connect and learn new things.

interesting can overcome emotional barriers. As fun and enjoyment in online classes will helps in
making student energetic and more interested to attend the session more serious in order to learn
things.
So, all these are effective strategies that can be used by BusinessUnited to overcome the
barriers of communication for better understanding and learning.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The above analysis and discussion has helped in identifying that company is facing
challenges related to online teaching of various students. So there are several recommendations
that could be used by enterprise in recent scenario to teach students in better manners and yield
maximum benefits. Such as:
Firstly, the lecturer must be connected to strong network and make use of better
technology in order to teach through online sources. Moreover, in case of some technical
problem it needs to revise the lesson taught so that students can be connected and learn
things related to the lesson.
Secondly, BusinessUnited has to take steps related to understanding language and culture
of each students in order to adapt to communication styles (Shipunova and et.al., 2017).
Thus, delivered information as per their respective language so that they can grasp as per
their relative culture and language.
Furthermore, students can be provided opportunities to ask question and queries within
the online session through comments and like options. As it will help in understanding
that they are able to learn and grasp knowledge as provided by the lecturer or are lacking
behind.

From the above report it can be concluded that communication is most important process
as it contribute in shared of information from one person to another. BusinessUnited by making
use of different theories of communication can help students to easily learn through online
classes. Moreover it can be stated that manager of BusinessUnited can remove the barriers
through improving its technology, find new and best method to teach student so that they are
