Byzantine Empire continued the legacy of Rome
Byzantine Empire has expanded in various parts of the world and it carried the roman
culture in different parts of the world through the help of art and architecture. They tried to
maintain the naturalistic style as well as complex techniques from ancient Roman and Greek.
They took these things even in those countries were there was another culture such as Russia
and Balkans. They ensured that wherever they conquered they started making things that are
attached with the roman culture. There rulers kept their roman tradition in whichever nation
they went (Byron, 2012). The sent the roman scholar in these areas so that they can influence
the people living there to teach about the roman culture. They started building canals and
building that has roman style in it. They also ensured that whenever they go into any new
region they are carrying orthodox Christianity with them. This allowed them to ensure that
religion will spread as it the most powerful tool to spread any culture in any other parts of the
world. The religious scholars tried to influence the minds of people which helped them in
converting many people into Christians. Apart from this they preserved classical roman
manuscripts and at the same time they ensured that orthodoxy remains in the way the roman
people lives and rules the state. Byzantine Empire also fought with the Islamic armies to
ensure that other parts of the Europe will not get influenced by the Islam and their own
culture remains in the nation (Brownworth, 2010).
