Resource Management within Caffe Nero.
LO 1

Background
Globalisation is the movement of goods, services and people freely across the whole

P2. Producing project management plan covering aspects of cost, scope, time, quality,
communication, risk and resources.
Project Management Plan is defined as the way in which individual organizes and also
manges the resources that are actually necessary in order to complete a particular project
(Anderson and Morrison, 2018). Furthermore, the main purpose of this plan that document that
helps everyone that are involved with that particular project in order to communicate and detail
the information and also describe process that has to be undertaken by the project. It is the
practice to initiate, plan, execute, control and closing of work to achieve the goals that are being
targeted within specific period.
Cost- Cost shows the budget that is required to complete the particular project. In this the
project manager that represents me is responsible in dispersing resources in appropriate
manner (Wilton, 2016).
Scope- I have to improve scope in the project management plan. Thus, to make a project
as an automated process they will have to first define the scope by stating the beginning
and end of the process.
Time- they must also analyse the time that will be taken in order to complete a particular
project.
Quality- Quality plays vital role in plan of project management. The project should have
an ability in defining the quality.

mainly noted in this plan.

P3. Producing WBS and a Gantt chart to provide time-frames and stages for completion.
WBS Chart-
Document Page
The term WBS chart is referred to as work break down structure in which the work
elements that are critical of a project that is known as tasks are illustrated in order to portray their
relationship to each other and also to project as a whole (Björkman and Welch, 2015).
Gantt chart-
As comparing to WBS chart, this chart helps in defining the flow of activities in a project
(Barnes and Adam, 2018). It shows all the activities that are being placed on bar chart in order,
right from left hand in terms of following precedence rules. Thus, Gantt chart is a tool that is
being used by project manager to analyse the estimated time that can be taken to complete the
activities or the project (Taylor, 2017).

LO 2
P4. Carrying out small scale research by applying qualitative and quantitative research methods
appropriate for meeting project aims. (RM)
Research Philosophy- This is a vast topic that deals with source, nature and
development of knowledge (Bratton and Gold, 2017). It is the belief about the ways where data
about process has to be collected. Later it should be analysed and also used in process. It is an
important element for those who are seeking for academic positions. It is a summary of research
experience and also interests that includes endeavours of past, present and future. It can be
Positivism or interpretivism. Positivism are highly structured and depends on quantifiable
observations that leads in analyses that are statistical (Shiri, 2014). Interpretivism involves the
researcher in order to interpret elements. Thus, the project manager of Caffe Nero uses
interpretivism research philosophy.
Research Approach- It is the plan that involves various steps of detailed method
included in collecting data (Brewster, Chung and Sparrow, 2016). The connection of hypotheses

is main point of distinctive between both deductive and inductive approaches. Further, deductive
approach is followed when the dissertation is needed to be confirmed or rejective during the
process of research. While, inductive research approach is does not involve any type of
formulation of hypotheses. Thus, Inductive research approach has been adopted by the project
manager of cited company.
Research Design- This is designed as a plan that is general that defines about what
should be done in order to answer the research question (Shaikh, 2015). This can be divided into
two groups that includes Exploratory Research and Conclusive research. Exploratory research
main purpose is to explore specific aspects of research area. Rather than providing final and
conclusive answers for questions in research. The other research design that is conclusive is
mainly applied in order to generate findings that are useful for concluding or decision making.
Thus, Caffe Nero adopts the Exploratory research design for designing a particular plan.
Data Collection- It is the process that helps in collecting information from all the sources
that are relevant for finding answers to the problem related to research (Marchington, Wilkinson,
Donnelly and Kynighou, 2016). Further, it is divided into two methods that includes primary and
secondary data collection. Primary data is collected with help of observation, interviews
questionnaires, etc. in addition to this, secondary data is one which is published already in books,
newspapers, magazines, journals, online portals etc. Thus, project manager uses both methods of
collecting data.
Sampling- This technique is divided into two categories as probability and non
probability (Marchington, 2015). Thus, in probability sampling, each member of a population
has a non zero chance of participating. The core of sampling technique is Randomisation. While,
in non probability sampling, the group members are selected non-randomly, therefore in non
probability sampling only limited members have a chance to participate. Therefore, project
manager of Caffe Nero uses probability technique of sampling. There involved 25 members.
Data analysis- there are two types of data analysis that is qualitative and quantitative. In
qualitative analysis of data, the researchers uses interviews, focus groups or experiments (J.
Hurn, 2014). On the other hand, quantitative data analysis involves critical analysis and also
interpretation of figures and numbers behind the main findings. These methods also includes
discussion about common patterns and controversies within secondary data that is related
directly to research areas. Thus, qualitative data analysis has been used by the stated company.

Ethical Consideration- This is one of the most critical part involved in research. Thus,
the project manager of a company will have to expand their discussions in order to address
ethical considerations (Brewster, Smale and Mayrhofer, 2017).
LO 3
P5. Analysing research and data using appropriate tools and techniques. (DA)
Theme 1 : Number of competitors incresed due to globalisation.
1. Is there an increase in number of competitors of Caffe Nero due to globalisation? Frequency
Yes 18
No 7
Interpretation : From the above analysis, it has been interpreted that about 10 members
in the company said yes and 7 members ignored when they were asked the question about
increased in number of competitors of Caffe Nero were due to globalisation. Thus, from this
survey it has been concluded that globalisation has a great impact in increasing the number of
competitors. The competition is related to cost of products and services. Thus, when company
produces with less cost and sells cheaper, they will be able in order to increase their market
share.
