Introduction
Business information has been an important asset for organizations. Business model and
structyre have been useful for development of the company. This report deals with the case study
of Cakes and Buns Company. A proper analysis of the business model has been done using
SWOT and Porter’s five forces. A three pages prototype website have been developed for the
company. A proper analysis of the website including technologies used in the development of
prototype website have been discussed in the report.
Industry Background
The Cakes and Buns Company has been established on October 1985 in Inkerman St, St
Kilda. Initially, it was a small business started by Jillian Norman and Rosie Khol. However, it
took less time for the business to grow and gain customers in the market. The first store was
opened in 1990 and faced competitive challenges from Brumby’s Bakers Delight for three years.
However, one of the employees in the company became TV and film star that helped in
promoting their products in the market. This helps in the development of the company by
increasing sales of products. Gradually, the company opened three stores in Melbourne (Bocken
et al. 2014). Now, the company has been looking for online expansion over the internet. The
promotion of products over the internet might help in increasing customer base over the world.
The company is looking for a proper functional website over the internet.
Business Model
The business model of the Cakes and Buns Company has been of Manufacturer type. The
company used to manufacture their own products and sell it to the customer’s directly. The
company has been manufacturing different items in cakes and buns with different flavors. This

has been attracting several customers in the market. The company has been targeting all age
groups of people specially youngsters. The company has been preparing products with no
preservatives used. Therefore, all products are freshly prepared each day for sale. Customers
have been looking for great and delicious tastes of cakes and buns (Casadesus‐Masanell and Zhu
2013). The company has been maintaining balanced framework and made for the business. The
organization structure of the company has been based of various departments. The joint owners
of the company have been main decisions makers for the company. The target audience of the
company has been helping in maintaining a keen approach to the development of the company in
the market. The marketing and promotion team of the company have been focusing in
promoting products over the intertie. The website of the comiany has been prepared in order to
maintain an online approach to the customers. The production team of the company has been
focusing in manufacturing cakes and buns according to the demand.

Value proposition of the comiany has been an important part for providing a clear
statement related ti the quality and business of the company to the customers in the market. The
goals and objectives of the company have been properly analysed in the value proposition
analysis. The Cakes and Buns Company have been focusing in design and flavor of the cakes
and buns. The company believe that taste and beauty needs to be directly propositional to each
other. The company does not use any kind of preservatives (DaSilva and Trkman 2014).
Cupcakes and cake rolls have been baked in small batches for ensuring freshness, consistency
and quality. All products are products according it the order and demand of the customers in the
market. There is no unnecessary huge production of products sin the company as they do not use
any kind of preservatives for strong extra products. The company has been looking into the
demand and expectation of the customers for preparing a healthy relationships with them. The
taste and flavor of the cakes and other desserts are taken in matter for satisfying needs of the
customers. The company has been providing services and food for any kind of party and
function. Therefore, this help in a special kind of promotion in the market.

to maintaining a healthy relationship with them. Therefore, there have been a keen approach of

The marketing policy of the company has been helping in promoting the products of the
company in the market. The company has been looking for the development towards the
interested. Therefore, these are the strengths of the company required for the development of the
company in the market.

market. Therefore, the customers have been influenced by the advertisements and posters of the

market. The threat of the competitors have been always prevailing in the market (Dobbs 2017).
Other big companies have been targeting their market for capitalization. The stearates used in
their management have not been implemented riley in the company. This might led to the loss in
the market. There has been increase in the cost of the raw materials in the market. This gave led
to the increase in the market source of the products in the market. Therefore, there has been
degradation in the sales of the company in the market.

There have been five forces discussed by Porters in order to analyses factors affecting the
business.
Competitive Rivalry: It deals with the other competitive companies included in the industry. A
competitive strategy have been prepared in order to compete with the other big companies in the

company might have to reduce their prices to retain maximum number of customers sin the
market.
Threat of substitutes: There have been always a high treat of substitute product in the market.
The company has been looking for manufacturing new products in the market (Meissner and
Wulf 2013). This have been helpful for the company to sustain in the market.
Bargaining power of suppliers: The Company has been loyal to its suppliers of raw materials.
Therefore, there is a low risks in this sector.

Affordance: The Company needs to be able to afford the costing of the design of the website.
The initial cost of the design needs to be attractive and flexible.

the market. The company will be able to understand the view of the customers regarding their
