Management Information System
We live in a generation which is controlled by the Internet. A vast amount of data is
readily available to everyone. A cutting edge technology known as Internet of Things, is
transforming everything into an information system. Hence, people with knowledge of IoT along
with business are, for sure capable of standing out in the crowd. To compete in the information
age, one must be aware of the four core drivers of the IT; they are Data, Information, Business
Intelligence and Knowledge. Previously database management system was the only thing used in
the business area more prevalently. Nowadays, Big data, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, IoT and
many other technologies are readily available and are used by the business sectors as well.
Introduction of Cloud computing in the field of business has an incredible impact on
organizations. With the data available over Cloud or stored with the help of Big Data analytics
not only reduces the hassle of human optimization but also reduces human error, improves
productivity and reduces the cost required for doing the same with the help of some other
medium. Introducing any new technology in a business has certain criteria and factors which
may be problematic in the later phases of business (De Lone & McLean, 2016). The hackers wait
for the opportunity to invade the Information system and collect data from them. They may
belong to the rival company or may just be a random opportunity seeker. In both the ways these
are risk factor for the company and have to be removed in any way possible. Prevention methods
have to be undertaken in these case. The advancement of the technology has also made the
hackers aware of them hence up gradation of the technologies have been undergone form their
side as well. Implementation of the Biometrics and digital signatures in the business organization
has led to the advancement of the security and betterment of the Information Integrity and
Privacy in the system (Khan, 2016).

2MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
With the implementation of the Management Information System, there are specific
changes that are inevitable in the organization. In an organization, it is imperative for the
manager to have an overview of what is going on and what can be achieved by the
implementation of a management information system (Laudon & Laudon, 2016). It is easy for
managers to get feedback regarding the performances of the employees. The investments in the
organization can be improved when the management can see that it is valid and what is not.
Performance comparison is one of the other central aspects of the Management Information
System. Workflows can be improved by the company, and as a result, a better business process
can be aligned according to the customer needs. The business decision can be placed in the
department, which is capable of handling them rather than the higher management levels. This
helps in circulating the knowledge of the business among all the departments in a company.
There is a certain kind of MIS reports that has to be prepared in order to run a successful
management system. Scheduled reports are developed on a daily basis, Ad-hoc reports are
created by the users and can be converted into the scheduled report. These are generally designed
for answering questions, and they are crucial for the organization. Real-time reports are created
so that the changes occurring in the organization can be monitored (Sousa et al., 2016). The
managers can see improvements in the field and can implement more technologies or assistance
to increase production over there. Thus, the implementation of technologies and MIS in business
is efficient and vital.
