Research Question 3: What are the commonly used perceptual voice quality measures that are
taken?
Rationale
In the prospect of telecommunication the main aspect that is considered is that Quality of
Service have been playing an important role. Hence wise performing proper analysis of the voice
quality and its measurement in the telecommunication will be playing an important role in the
process. Having a proper analysis of the subjective and objective testing have been acting as a
major prospect (Kolpakov & Kropotov 2017). This is the main benefit that is considered in the
process. With the help of the analysis of the processes, proper describing of the method
indication is performed. This helps in analysis of the technicalities that are associated with the
voice quality measurement process (Hikmatullah & Haryadi 2017). Voice quality measurement
methods are also analyzed in the process. It have been seen that the Voice Quality Management
have been highly important in several reasons.
Background
It have been seen that there is a constant growth in the importance of the QoS in the
telecommunication industry. It have been identified that for the telecommunication industry the
quality of the speech that is communicated have been acting as the major prospect. Hence it can
be stated that the continuous ability of monitoring the voice quality and the call quality have
been a prime target for the telecommunication industries (Koizumi et al., 2018). Customer
satisfaction is often seen to be dependent on the quality of service provided by the
telecommunication industry. It have been observed that the speech quality that is often known as
the perception of the speech quality. This ensures the fact that there have been better assessment
of the services that acts important in the process. Proper understanding of the quality

measurement techniques are also important in the section as well. Hence conducting research on
the topic will be useful for several research and development teams.
Literature Review
Importance of Voice Quality management in telecommunication industry
In the department of the telecommunication, the entire processing of the voice quality and
its measurement have been considered as a major instance and the entire process is subdivided in
3 components. The components are namely speech and voice communication quality. This is
directly related to the bi/ multi directional conversations that takes place over the
telecommunication network. The second component that is considered in the section includes the
like of service related influences (Wang, Naylor and Brookes 2016). This is again known as the
service performance. Service support is the main aspect of this component. Service operability as
well as the service security have been another aspect that is considered in the section. The very
third component that is considered in this process is the necessary terminal equipment
performance. This includes the features and aspects that includes proper analysis of the quality of
the entire communication process. This process is considered to be user directed. Thus it can be
stated that there will be a proper assessment of the close insight to the questions that relates to
the quality feature results. Quality is defined as the result of the judgment of the constitutional
entity. This is regarding the processing of the perceived result of the perception and character of
the speech. In this process a proper relationship in between the perceived and the desired
expected speech signal can be considered.

Significance of Objective voice quality measures
Objective voice measures have been considered as the replacement of the human panel
by the computational models. This section of replacement also includes an algorithm that
includes computation of MOS value.
The objective measures are sub divided in 2 major areas. The areas are namely Intrusive
measures and the non intrusive measures. The entire process of the intrusive measure and the non
intrusive measures are interconnected to each other. In case of intrusive measure there are 2
blocks that are to be considered. The first block is the System Under Test block. The second
block that is considered is the processing blocks. The process starts with original speech that is
the input entering the system under test block (Andersen et al 2017). Similarly the input speech
also enters the processing blocks. The output of the system under test block is considered to be
the degraded output speech. The same output is sent to the processing block along with the
original input speech and the output that is received is the intrusive measure (Haryadi 2018).
Again in case of the non intrusive measure, the degraded speech is then sent to the processing
block and the output that is received is the non intrusive measure. This includes the likes of
Predicted voice quality. Intrusive measures is often known as the input to output measures and
the non intrusive measure is known as the single ended measure or the output based measure.
Part 2
Research design
The research design that is chosen in the process is descriptive research design. In
descriptive research design, it only discusses about the scenario that have been provided. This
research design is mainly dependent on describing the entire scenario. This is s theory based

research design. This process includes assessing of data gathering and analysis of the same. After
the analysis is performed in a proper manner, the data are hence wise documented. This
documentation process is used for having a reference of the entire process (Johnston 2017). This
research design helps in providing an insight to the entire business process. This is one of the
major aspect that is considered. Exploratory research is also performed for specifying the
research module. The descriptive methodology is based on the mixed research method. In this
process usage of both qualitative and quantitative research is seen. This helps in increasing the
preciseness and descriptiveness of the research.
Outline
Phase 1: Initiation: In this phase selection of the topic of the research is selected and the
research design that will be performed is also selected.
Phase 2: Planning: In the planning phase a selection in between the qualitative and quantitative
data collection and analysis performed.
Phase 3: Execution: In the initial stage, qualitative data collection and analysis will be
performed and after that quantitative data collection and analysis is performed.
Phase 4: Monitoring: In this process the data that are collected are well monitored. This
monitoring process includes that the data segmentation is done properly and the alignment of the
process is done in a proper manner.
Phase 5: Closure: in this stage data will be documented and hence this will be acting as a
reference for the entire process.

Research method
The research methodology that is chosen in completion of the research proposal is
secondary data analysis. There are certain aspects that are considered during performing the
performing the secondary data analysis. As the data are not collected directly, there are certain
aspects that are to be considered. Getting familiar to the data sets have been one of the major
aspect that is considered in the section (Templeton, Burney & Kang 2019). This includes the fact
that there have been proper assessment of the cluster or stratification that is to be performed
while performing the research process. There are certain advantages that are received due to
using of the secondary data analysis. The most important aspect that is considered in the process
is that the entire process can be acting important for the research process (Breznau 2016). It have
been seen that the budget that was incurred in completion of the research process was very low
and this has increased the efficiency of the research process. Collection of data from scratch is
not required. Thus it can be stated that the data that are directly related to the research can be
used. This is the main reason that proper assessment of the working process have been getting
better.
Another aspect that was enjoyed during the processing of the research due to secondary
data analysis and collection includes the fact that there have been an access to a large and diverse
set of data. This diverse set of data ensures that there have been a proper assessment of the
research completion. Another major advantage that is received in the process is that the time that
is taken for completion of the research process have been lower in compared to the primary data
collection and analysis process (Ørngreen & Levinsen 2017). Another advantage that is
considered in the process is that the data that are collected from the sources are well maintained.
The data that are collected have been ensuring the fact that there have been higher accuracy in

the data that are collected. In the secondary data analysis and data collection process, the main
aspect that is to be considered is that qualitative data collection is performed. In the quantitative
data collection, proper assessment of the basic terminologies are considered. This ensures that
the management of the project gets easier.
With a proper understanding of the basic terminologies the entire working process gets
easier. After performing the qualitative data analysis, quantitative data analysis is performed.
This helps in increasing the preciseness of the entire research process. This preciseness is also
required in the research process (Quinlan et al., 2019). However there have been an issue in the
processing of the secondary data analysis process. This includes the fact that as the data is not
directly collected by the researchers, the specificity of the data is not always up to the mark.
Justification: The justification of selecting this method is that there will be proper analysis of the
data collection and diverse source of data can be used. The process is cost efficient as well. This
is one of the major reason that Secondary methodology is used in the research process.
Description of the data sources
The data that are used in the research proposal are all from peer reviewed journals. There
are certain reasons of choosing peer reviewed data. This includes the fact the diversity of the
opinions that are demonstrated in the journal is high. Theoretical removal of the personal biases
as well as the pre set ideas have been considered as a major prospect. The peer reviewed process
that is considered to be eliminating the substandard as well as poor science related documents to
be reaching the mass. The peer reviewed articles pas through several reviewing process from the
experts of the field (Förster 2020). This have been the major advantage that is received due to the
usage of the peer reviewed journals.

TELECOMMUNICATION
Another major aspect that is considered to be an advantage is that the plagiarized
solutions are eliminated in the process. Rejection of the duplicate solutions have been considered
as a major prospect. In peer reviewed journals poor standard works are removed and hence the
data that are received are highly authentic in nature. Another major aspect that is to be
considered in the section is that the data that are provided in the peer reviewed articles are highly
referenced. This proper referencing ensures the fact that there have been proper assessment of
the authentication of data. This authentication of data includes the fact that there have been
proper management of the copyright issues. As authentication of the data is maintained accuracy
of the data is maintained as well. These are the major reasons of using peer reviewed journals for
completion of the research process.
Conclusion
From the above discussion it can be stated that the research methodology that have been
chosen is secondary data analysis. Primary data analysis is not chosen and hence there is no need
of performing interviews and sampling. The benefits received due to secondary data analysis
have been the reason of selecting this style. Call quality measurement have been a major concern
of telecommunication process. Hence wise discussion have been made hence wise.
