Student development through joining a campus club
The college and universities provide the effective platform for the career development of
the students which enables them to be extraordinary (Lifschutz 108). Further, the busy schedule
from their studies, the students are unable to focus on the additional skill development such as
being responsible and independent. For this purpose, most colleges and universities have their
own campus club that organizes the different social activities of similar interest. It is a valuable
part of college life because these activities develop the members’ mental and physical skills
(Chrystal, Gansemer-Topf, and Laanan 15). The universities cover several activities such as
sports, public service, political and academic through the active involvement of students. The
student can choose any campus club according to their interest and goals. Further, the
universities encourage their student to become a member of the campus club and enrich the
experience of their college life. It has several benefits such as career opportunity, political
opportunity and social amiableness.
Before joining the campus club, the students must research all the clubs available at the
university. It helps the students to join the appropriate club for developing their variety of skills
so as to ensure their career growth. By considering these lacking areas, the student motivates for
self-development and enhance their own competencies by building effective strategies. Further,
the students should actively participate in the club activities because to achieve the best
experience of membership, the high involvement in the club is imperative. If students do not take

an active part in club activity then the chance of skills development is negligible. On the other
hand, if students have some significant issues which prevent them to take an active part then the
student should communicate with the leader and resolve the problems (Hsu 168). The effective
selection and active participation in the campus club emerge several opportunities for the
students.
The joining of the campus club increases the students’ network in the university. This is
because after joining, the student interacts with the different member of the club to complete the
group activities. For example, joining a club helps students to improve their communication
skills and accomplish the collective success by working in a team. It supports students to achieve
their future goals because the information interchange enhances the knowledge of the students.
Apart from this, it improves the collaborative skills of the students as group activities stimulate
them to achieve collective success. In this context, to enhance the productivity of organizational
workplace, the collaboration in the employees is crucial because it includes the collective
strength of individual which streamlines the business operation (Sykes 385). Besides enhancing
the networking opportunity, campus club facilitates students to be responsible and punctual as
they get chance to work on several activities than education. For example, sports clubs are
competing with each other and enhance the socialization in team members. Thus, by joining the
campus club, the students strengthen their network in the industry of their interest and improve
the social relationship.
Campus club joining proves to be effective because active participation in club
activities motivates them to work for the common goals. It has a high impact on students’
wellness. For instance, the club serves the community through volunteering and enhances the
responsible citizenship and ethical standard of student behavior. Further, it increases the

professional experience of the students because the members of the club have the opportunity to
take the advantages of internship in the professional institute. It develops the professional skills
of the student which leads their future growth. For instance, by joining the campus club, the
students enhance leadership skills by planning and organizing the different club activities.
Moreover, it enhances time management skills because the students complete their academic
assignment along with taking part in club activities. It helps the students in the future as they
experience the sense of responsibility and working in a team. Furthermore, the student
understands the company norms and regulations in the internship period (Lehto 840). It helps the
student in the future to understand their job responsibility effectively and accordingly take the
right decision for the business (Liu and Chang 26). It increases the ethical standards of the
students’ decision because they consider all the aspect like profitability and employees’
wellbeing. Therefore, the campus club augment the overall skills and ensure professional
development to a great extent.
Despite several benefits of joining the campus club, the student may face several issues in
effective joining. The hesitation in the student while communicating with other team member is
one of the main barriers which can be removed through the internal practices of campus club
(Seng, and Khoo-Lattimore 25). This communication barrier prevents the student to effectively
interchange the information and knowledge with other team members which affects their
performance (Strapp and Rebecca 51). It demotivates the students by increasing their mental
pressure. Apart from this, the scarcity of confidence is also a significant issue which is faced by
the student in joining the campus club. Due to low morale, some students leave the memberships
after some time of joining the club and derives from the advantages of skills development. It
further negatively influences their other academic growth because the poor confidence also

reflects in their performance which consequently decreases their obtaining grades. Thus, if the
students overcome these barriers then they can polish their skills and strengthen themselves
which highly ensure future growth.
