The co-existence of people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds within a certain
given territorial boundary is considered to be multiculturalism. The following paper attempts a
discussion on the major strengths of the policy of multiculturalism as is implemented by the
governmental authorities of Canada.
The Canadian government has been witnessing the presence of multiculturalism within
the country since the formation of the country. The country is home to people belonging to
diverse cultural backgrounds and tend to follow a number of religious beliefs. The countrymen
have been known to be well versed in two official languages despite the array of cultural beliefs
that they abide by (Ctvnews.ca, 2019). The multiculturalism is generally considered to be one of
the primary characteristics of the Canadian government. The multiculturalism has evolved to be
one of the major characteristics of the Canadian constitution.
The Canadian population is majorly made up of people who have been belonging to
various cultural and national backgrounds. The Canadian population is known to have no
multicultural groups however, there exist within the country several ethno-cultural communities.
The governmental policies that exist within the country tend to assist in the multiculturalism
within the country (Semotiuk, 2017). The multiculturalism within the country helps in the
development of the relationships between the various races that are present within the country.
The proper implementation of the multiculturalism within the country helps in the proper
management of the people who have been belonging to varied racial backgrounds. The
multiculturalism within the country thereby helps in the development of the entire community at
large (Bloemraad, 2010). The implementation of the proper immigration policy within the
country assists in the development of the cultural heritage within the country (Statcan.gc.ca,
2019). This further helps in the resolution of the issues that stem from the support extended to

the minority communities within the country. The multiculturalism within the country often
leads to the inclusiveness of the communities within the country.
Thus, it might safely be concluded that the multicultural practices within the country of
Canada have been beneficial for the country and the residents of the country. Multiculturalism
has helped the country gain a unique identity in the international market.
