Leroy Earl Fuller founded his premium dining restaurant chain called Earls.
2. Entrepreneur’s early life.
Leroy Earl Fuller was born in the year 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Having been a veteran of
the Korean war, Leroy had accumulated a lot of knowledge of cuisines around the world and
it was after his service that he had decided to get into the restaurant business. Leroy and his
son Stanley Earl Fuller are considered to be the founders of the Earls chain. However, before
Leroy decided to start his own restaurant chain, he was already operating many A&W
franchises, having expanded to almost 30 locations in Canada.
3. Leroy Earl Fuller’s road to success.
The reason behind Leroy’s success in opening the Earls joint was their innovative idea of
using the best ingredients and providing the best service. This was unmatched in the burger
joint industry because not many restaurants during that time paid attention to quality as
burgers were always considered a fast food item. Their other innovative idea was that, even
though their menu consisted mainly of burgers, they decided to add a theme to these dishes
that was inspired by vacation trips around the world.
4. Earls – company description:
Earls, owned by the Fuller family, specialises in premium style casual dining, and they
have almost 70 restaurants in both United States and Canada. It was only recently, 2013, that
the president for the first time was not someone from the Fuller family, Mo Jessa.
5. Financial Status
Even though the company is a family owned restaurant, its success will enable Earls to
reach almost a billion dollars in sales. Leroy holds the position of Chairman in the Earls

restaurant company. Earls has become one of the biggest family owned restaurant chains in
its specialization, and its healthy financial status reflects on that of Leroy Earl Fuller as well.
6. Earls Philosophy
Leroy started his company with the goal of providing good quality food, with equal
quality of an ambience. He incorporated knowledge from his travels into the food on his
menu, giving the food a wholesome reputation. Using best quality food also means up
keeping the company’s corporate social responsibility by using products that have the
“Certified Humane” status.
