INTRODUCTION
An organisation comprises of a social group of individual works together to attain a
particular task or assisgnment. Employees in the present era are the asset of the firm who effectively
adopts the working culture and environment in order to produce successful results. Organisational
behaviour is constituted as a key component of the business growth and development because the
contribution of employees is highly regulated and enhanced through it (Amft and et.al., 2014). The
present study will analyse the organisational activities of CAPCO which is a well established
consultancy firm operating globally to attain the set objectives. The company is highly people
oriented. The business objective is attained by managing a strong and committed team of employees
capable to address the consumers needs. The current evaluation will identify different aspects of
organisation and behaviour. The study will analyse the leadership aspect and its contribution in
employee participation. Along with it theories regarding organisational culture, structure and
management aspects will also be discussed in the analysis. Individual behaviour will also be
discussed in the study.
TASK 1
1.1
Organisation structure defines how functions and activities are directed toward the
company's objective. It is a systematic process under which tasks are divided, and coordinated
between the member in the business unit. Every corporation have its own structure which clarifies
the roles and responsibility of employees. On the other hand culture defines individual behaviour,
values, and beliefs which determine how they behave in the business enterprise. Every company
have developed and maintain its unique culture which render guidelines for individual behaviour.
As it has been discussed above that CAPCO is the management consultancy firm which
operates various services such as capital market, retail banking, global delivery, digital and
technological services. For running its business activities and function it have large number of
employees (Avey, Luthans and Youssef, 2010). In the reference of CAPCO , tall organisation
structure has been adopted by it. In this structure, business unit has only direct and vertical
relationship between various levels in the firm. Only top authority and management takes decision
related to the business activities and function. In this concept line department can involved in order
to achieve the primary objective of the corporation. Major advantage of this structure is as it tends
to simply and clarify authority, responsibility and accountability relationship. cited venture has
adopted power culture for developing effective environment at workplace. In this aspect, firm has
followed strict regulation and guidelines that uphold the policies of the corporation. Moreover every
employees behave in an ideal ways and consist with set of norms and regulation.

IBM has adopted matrix organisation structure. Generally employees have dual reporting
relationship under which they have to report functional as well as product manager. This structure
allows higher flexibility and specialisation it may create conflicts between line and staff employees
(Bissell and Dolan, 2012). Further IBM has adopted task culture under which each individual is
considers as a valuable assets for firm. It gives valuable feels to its employees by providing
recognition and attractive incentives. In this culture, personnels are motivated for perform higher
performance. Further, with assistance of this culture, worker cooperate with top management in
order to solving conflicts and problem related to business practices.
It has been ascertained by above discussion that both firm have different structure and culture which
influence their operation and function.

Structure and culture of the organisation influenced emplyees performace and their activities
by the because these term are directly linked with employees practices and function. It have positive
and dependant relationship with outcome of business unit. If there is healthy and supportive
environment at workplace then workers would highly motivated for effective performance (Bolino
and et.al., 2013). It can be said that company's structure is developed by the culture of firm. In the
reference of CAPCO, structure and culture are blood cells for is business environment where every
individual is responsible to perform their duties in such manner so as they can attain effective
results and outcomes. It has been ascertained that cited venture have tall organisation structure and
task culture in its operation function.
Advantage of tall structure and power culture-
In the context of CAPCO tall structure can be beneficial to dividing role and responsibility
to each individual in the firm. With assist of appropriate control, department has coordinated and
managed properly. In this aspect, as an organisation have various numbers of department which
increase the structure of firm. Employees authority and task can be managed effectively in this
structure. Further decision making is as fast because all final decisions are in the hand of top
management. As per the power culture in CAPCO, management are settled by proper principles
and regulation (March, 2013). There are not any complexity and misunderstanding arises because
top management effectively direct and control various department in the corporation. This

Disadvantage of tall structure and power culture-
By adopting tall structure and power culture, CAPCO has faced some issues and problem in
its operation. Many of the employees does not feel comfortable with business environment. All

related to their working practices. Further there communication quality is poor due to the gap
between department.

Human resource is very crucial part for CAPCO for achieving its target. In the absence of
them cited venture can not survive its business activities and function. Human behaviours is very
sensitive attribute which influence frequently by various components such as their perception,
demographic factors, talents and skills, Job responsibility, work place condition etc. This feature in
individual can not stable for long time it may change time to time and person to person at workplace
(Kooijman, 2010). Apart from it every employees have their own style and criteria for accomplish
the task. Some of the major components which influence personnel behaviour at workplace are as
follows- Employees perception- Individual perceptions are an attribute by which they judge another
persons and action. Every individual have their own Perception and it may differs from one
to another. It is an intellectual process of transforming sensory stimuli. Employees of cited
venture have various perception and opinion related to company's policies, practices
(Negussie and Demissie, 2013). CAPCO should provides an effective working environment
so they can perform their job in appropriate manner. Job responsibility- Roles and responsibility also affect individual behaviour. Every
employees in venture performs as per their authority and duty. They can not perform
happily if they does not satisfied their job obligation in the business enterprises. Workplace condition- Workplace condition also influence employees views, thoughts and
feels. If company's working condition is sound then they can stay there happy and positive.
Talent and knowledge-Every personnel have some knowledge and talent which differ from
another person (Buchanan and Huczynski, 2013). Employees within the organisation will be
able to render best outcomes. Employees talent and knowledge largly affects performance at
the workplace.

In order to coordinate and direct individual at workplace, leadership style is very effective
quality in the leader or supervisor. It is an art of directing, controlling, influencing and coordinating
people at workplace for attaining desired objective. Through this skill and ability of leader,
subordinate can able to knows a proper direction and guidelines for perform their job in impressive
way. With assistance of leadership, leader can generate an inspiring vision and also motivate
employees for higher performance (Iqbal and et.al., 2012). In the context of CAPCO and IBM,

leadership style is very helpful in guiding and directing their workforce. Both organisation have
adopted different leadership style.
Autocratic leadership style- CAPCO has been adopted autocratic leadership style for directing and
controlling their workforce in an organisation. As per this style, leaders does not take participation
of personnels in the process of decision making. The final decisions are in the hand of leaders or top
management (French, 2011). In this aspect, building quick decision by management because
managers does not having any views and opinions by their subordinates and workers. Main aim of
this style is to take quick decisions related to firms practice and function. In this aspect, group
leaders dictate all the work methods and process.
Democratic leadership style- IBM has more concious about their workers so as it has adopted
autocratic leadership style. As per this concept, manager or leader positively influenced to their
employees by inviting then in the business decision. Leaders takes active participation of personnels

absenteeism and turnover because with assistance of this style personnel can share their conflicts

which manager of company should focus on achieving so as company can able to survive in the
competitive market and its goodwill can increse. As per this theory, contribution of manager is
generally high because he/she is responsible to motivate and encourage workforce for best and
quality performance. Moreover manager is liable to select and train workers. He/she is liable to
understand the strength and weakness of each individual at workplace and provide appropriate
training programs to them. It can be said that manager play a crucial role in this theory of
management and their contribution will more supportive in increase the quality of company
performance.

organisational performance. Further more, every organisation has to adopted management approach
which assistance in creating valuable working environment. In the context of management there are
various approaches which have their own principles and concepts. Various reflection occurs by

discussed below-
Administrative management approaches- As per this theory of management, company's manager
main focus on firms productivity and employees efficiency. CAPCO has used this approach of
management in its practices so that operation can be run in excellent manner. The responsibility and
objective of managers defines within each levels of management. Further, it proposes the division
of employees which assistance in increase their performance and reduce the cost of company (Pal
and Dasgupta, 2012). In this aspect clear division of labour between the organisation department.
As per this concept every one is obligated to perform their job and responsibility to perform in the
organisation.
Human Behaviour Approach- IBM generally adopted this approach of management under which
top management and authority treats with employees as they are as part of company or valuable

As per the discussion it has been ascertained that CAPCO managers and leaders has adopted
autocratic leadership style for their personnel at workplace. The main intension of this style to take
business decision fast and effectively control over the activity of personnels. Some time control is
necessary on individuals when they adopt a casual and in-disciplinary attitude at workplace as well
as involved in conflict situation (Leadership Style and Organizational Impact, 2010). This type of
style may beneficial for the leader to make personnel focused on goal as well as disciplinary to
business rules and regulation. Apart from that, this style is beneficial for employee to perform their
job in appropriate manner. In this situation leader can adopt autocratic leadership style in order to

manager. According to this theory of motivation employees can be satisfied by five needs. If these
needs can not fulfil employees would dissatisfied and demotivated. According to this concept,
employees are required for physiological, safety, love belonging, self-esteem and self-actualisation
need. At workplace if these needs are not fulfilled then they may dissatisfied and demotivated.
CAPCO has been used various motivational reward systems for encouraging their employees
(Podsakoff and et.al., 2011). Further, they company provides an appropriate working environment
where they can feel their basis requirements like lunch breaks, water, air etc. Furthermore,
organisation has established such policies and practices of working by which they can fulfilled their
basis requirements.
On the other hand, IBM has been adopted Heirzberg motivation theory under which
employees are motivated by two factors that is motivation and hygiene factor. This factor are

requirement and needs then they can able to fulfil them by providing effective setting and
programs. Cited venture employees will motivated and encourage by these motivation
practices (Van Schlkwyk, Eis, and Rothmann, 2011). Further they will suggest new idea and
creativity for organisation which plays an essential role in the growth and development of

2012). These characteristics of a group help in enhancing the success and growth aspects of the

In CAPCO the group behaviour of members are influenced by external factor like corporate
strategies, structure, rules and regulations, policies, staffing and appraisal and individual behaviour
such as personality, ability, perception, leaders behaviour and communication pattern etc. The final

aspect of the business. Large teams are difficult to manage and results in underutilization of
resources while very small teams are often unable to attain the targets and results in

effective team size helps in attaining well defined goals and objectives of the business. Leadership: Effectiveness of a team demands proper direction and control. CAPCO ensures

the company need to outreach its clients and employees in remote locations. Emails is the
significant tool which has simplified the data sharing, communication and transfer of
information for the employees. Video conferencing is an advanced tool which has helped in
enhancing the team management from every location by video calling and developing a face
