Introduction
Car free city is a place or a location where motorized vehicles are prohibited . It refers to
a place whose population rely on walking, cycling or public Services for transportation purpose .
The growing concern about environment is a major factor because of which more and more
people are getting aware about these solutions. Some of other issues that are faced by the
countries is related to congestion and infrastructure which is unable to handle the growing
population and vehicles of that area (Plato., 2018). Car free city zones are tends to be designed in
order to fulfill the needs of people rather than private cars. The car free city project aims at
increasing pedestrian mobility and efficient structural placement. The stakeholders that are
involved or have interest in the project of car free city has certain expectations from the end
result . It is impossible for the project to fulfill all the needs and expectations of stakeholders due
to which certain conflicts arises in between the stakeholders (Mann and et. al., 2021). It is the
responsibility of project manager to make sure that Expectations and needs that are aligning with
the main purpose of the project should be fulfilled (Krskova and et. al., 2020). There are different
types of stakeholders including government, residents, corporate or company handling the
project, media, local municipalities, etc. It is important to make sure that all the stakeholders are
satisfied with the proposal of the project as they are going to be affected by the end results of the
project majorly. The report covers economic impact on the particular area which is adopting car
free city project. The report also covers environmental and social impact of adopting car free city
on the area and on the local residents of that area.
Main body
There are two types of car free city zones which include first cities that strictly prohibit
use of private cars within the city limit and on the other hand partial limit on private cars is
imposed ad some cars are allowed to enter the city area (Hossienpour and FAZLOLLAHI.,
2018). The car free city projects aims on reducing walking distance of the residence and
improving residential access which minimizes the needs of residence for new road infrastructure.
These facilities decentralized around the city and the population rely major on walking or
cycling which promotes less conflicts between motorized traffic and residents.
The Economic Impacts.

 Impacts related to employment: People working in automobile sector or motor vehicle
sector may have to lose their jobs due to restrictions on private cars or private vehicles on
the other hand employment opportunities in public sector will increase as there will be a
need of more employees in public service or public vehicle segment. It is beneficial for for
population which is looking for government jobs (Çelik and et. al., 2018). The government
job in the city will be more in comparison to automobile or cars showrooms. As majority of
the vehicle parts are imported from a handful of countries, making bicycles in own country
will also provide economic benefit to the country. Bicycle industry will also progress and
will provide employment opportunities to skilled as well as unskilled labour.
 Reduced oil wars: Oil wars refers to the conflict between two or more countries related to
petroleum resources or regulations, consumption and transportation of oil and resources
(Rees and Glasper., 2018). As oil is a scares and limited resource and countries have to
import it from other countries, it will be beneficial for the countries to limit their usage of oil
which will help them in avoiding unnecessary oil wars and will help the country in saving a
huge amount of money which can used in other departments such as healthcare, security or
fire department. Reducing usage of oils will also make sure that the country is having a less
amount of pollution and carbon footprint. It is beneficial for environment as well as for local
people as they will be able to inhale less pollutant air and will live a healthy life.
 Impacts on businesses: Businesses related to car or motor vehicle will have to face severe
consequences as they will be forced to shutdown there businesses. Several businesses related
to motorized vehicles and their parts will no Longer be able to survive in the (Car-Free
Cities: Are Businesses Ready?, 2020). Parking lot facilities is also a major income source
and a part of business sector which win also be affected as there will be no cars to fill up the
parking lot. However businesses related to bicycles, Comfortable footwear and construction
of roads and pedestrians will have a hike in the market. It can be seen as an opportunity for
other businesses as they will be able to have more spaces which can help them in
development and growth of their businesses.
The Environmental Impacts.

 Impacts on the city’s carbon footprint and sustainability: Carbon footprints refers to the
total amount of greenhouse gases that has been Generated due to human actions and are
being included or released in the environment . It is harmful for the environment as well as
for human beings. The gases include carbon dioxide add methane emission of which is really
harmful for health and well being of people (Mastoras and et. al., 2021). Majority of carbon
footprint occurs due to the pollution caused by motorized vehicles . It is important for the
world to make sure to avoid 2 degree rise in global temperature . Prohibiting private vehicles
and encouraging people to use public vehicles will help the government in reducing carbon
footprint as it is essential to drop carbon footprint and reduce it up to less than 2 tons by the
end of 2050.
 Impacts on pollution and climate: There are several ways in which motorized vehicles are
increasing pollution in the environment. By reducing the usage of private vehicles will help
the country in controlling the pollution factor (Pérez and Rubio., 2020, February). Pollution
is A major factor and a big reason for health issues. Increase in pollution can cause a severe
effect on the health of local people . By promoting walking and use of bicycles can help the
country and the local people to control pollution threat. Car free city will not only be able to
reduce air pollution but will also control the noise pollution which is caused by honking. The
major Climatic changes occurring due to the impact of pollution and carbon footprints will
also be reduced up to a certain level .
 The environmental impacts of any construction work that is needed: Construction work
will be Continued as It is an essential activity that is needed to be done Irrespective of
weather the city is car free or not (Heilig and et. al., 2018). Construction work will also have
impact on the environment and in order to reduce it, government must make sure that
construction work is done With optimum efficiency and effectiveness so that it does not
provide Much home to the environment. Efficiency and effectiveness will be achieved
through construction companies by implementing accurate processes and with the help of
technology.

The Social Impacts.
 Public response to the changes and impacts of this response on society: Although it is a
very good idea to have a car free city and is in the favour of the health of local people and
betterment of environment it is Important to understand that initially the public may have to
suffer from inconvenience. Every citizen may not be familiar with public transportation and
may not feel comfortable while travelling through public transportation (Ciociola and et. al.,
2020, September). It is important for the government to encourage people and society at
large to use public transportation and must provide certain benefits which can make sure that
people are comfortable while travelling through public transportation . Hygiene and
cleanliness can play a major role in determining whether people are comfortable while
traveling through public transport or not.
 Change in the number of accidents: each year their is a large number of people who lost
their lives due to car crashes of accidents. If the country or the city is car free then their will
be no car crash of accidents. It will also reduce the congestion on the roads ad their will be
no longer problem of traffic for local citizen (Nieuwenhuijsen and Khreis., 2019). As people
were walking and bicycling more their health will also start to become better. It is important
for the citizens to live a healthy lifestyle as if decreases the chances of deceases like
diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, etc. It is extremely important for people nowadays to
make sure that they are focusing more on their health as people are starting to have low
lifespan.
 Changes in crime rate and prevalent types of crime: Crime rates have severely increased
due to the inflation and decreasing purchasing power of customers. People wants to live
luxurious lives and are not having enough opportunities through which they can earn amount
which can fulfill their basic needs (Mattia, Mugion and Principato., 2019). Also personal
vehicles give rise to crime as it is easier for criminals to escape with the hep of their personal
vehicles. It will be beneficial for both citizens as well as government to track criminals if
their is no personal vehicles and the criminals also have to travel through public transport
which increases the risk of them being caught.
Recommendation

 Creating a culture of happiness: It is important for the society and local people to
understand that car free city will help them in reducing frustration which they have while
driving their own car or due to the traffic which make them late for meetings, etc (Kiekel.,
2020). If people collectively take a step forward and try to walk or use bicycle as much as
possible then they will find it extremely beneficial in the long run.
 Providing accurate information: It is important to make sure that People have clear
information about the benefits of car free city . It is important as it will help the authority in
stopping any useless rumor and will also help in encouraging people to adopt car free
lifestyle. Information is one of the major source which can help people in taking the matter
seriously and taking initiative towards a better tomorrow (10 Reasons Why Cities Should
Consider Going Car-Free, 2021). The information about the benefits in long run will help in
making people realize the importance of reduced use of personal cars.
 Focus on better infrastructure: the The focus of the government must be on the
improvement of infrastructure of the city as if the infrastructure is not appropriate then it will
not encourage people and people also will not support the initiative(Çetinkaya and et. al.,
2020). So before encouraging people to transport through public transport it is important for
the government to improve the infrastructure of the city so that people do not have to face
inconvenience.

From the above report, it is concluded that creating a vision of car free city can really
help people in decreasing carbon footprints, pollution and global warning. The climatic changes
are already a warning sign for people about the depletion and it is important o take some steps
now so that in the long run people do not have to suffer from even worst consequences. In order
to create a better environment and to save natural resources as well as habitats it is important to
make sure that people are taking initiatives which can help in improving the quality of life. Car
free city will also help the people in living a healthy lifestyle as walk and cycling is a good
source of exercise for people and reduces pollution will provide fresh air to people. The
economic impact of car free city will help in analyzing the benefits of adopting car free routine,
environmental and social impact will help in understanding why it is better for the long run for
society as well as for nature and environment.
