INTRODUCTION
Car-free city can be defined as that city where the use of cars are banned or prohibited.
As the urban areas mostly rely on the vehicles, which has created lot of issues and health
problems to the general public. Car free city model has been increasing in the current time
because of the current issues of pollution, congestion and the infrastructure(Delaneuville, 2020).
Many cities have made an improvement in eliminating the auto-mobiles so that people can
breathe fresh and they does not have any health issues. The main factor by which the authorities
of countries makes such type of decision is that as there is an increase in the vehicles forming
carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide gasses which has created working life of people not enjoyable
but in a more difficult manner. According to Marcela Guerrero,(2019) in the city making, traffic
jams is one of the issue which has created congestion in the society and at some point of time it
has resulted in crime and pollution. So this is the reason of making cities car-fee in order to
reduce the pollution which has been created and to reduce the problem of general public (This is
what happens when cities ban cars from the roads, 2019). There are different stakeholders who
are involved in the procedure of making city-center car-free and that covers government which
has the right of making rules regarding that in which way the cars will be reduced or will be
banned in the city. The social workers who are created for making the city pollution free in
which such type of efforts will be effective for the country. This report will cover analysis on the
impact of making car free city on the impact which will be on the health, environmental impacts
and social impacts which will be on the society and also to the country. It will also cover the
recommendations of making a city-center car free.
MAIN BODY
Analysis
The Health Impacts
Changes in how citizen exercise-
Making city car-free helps in providing people with good and healthy environment. By
making it a car-free world which will be helpful for people and will provide lot of opportunity to
make their health more healthier. People will be benefited with it where exercise will be the
essential element and when the cars will be banned from the city then in such situation people
will use the substitutes of it including the bicycles which will be the most beneficial tool(Glew

and et. al., 2018). Fresh environment is also for those who will do the exercise. In this case, if the
city will be made cars free then there will be less pollution and people can do there exercise in a
better way.
The impact on mental health-
Mental health is very important for any of the individual because with this only there other
activities are related .Mental health also gets affected when the environment is polluted which
makes an impact on psychiatric disorders (Pollution and Mental Health, 2021). When there will
be lot of pollution in the environment then in this case it can react in faster breathing, tense
muscles and when people will be breathing that polluted air then the chances of increase in the
stress level would be increased. It has been seen that the bad environment can make an impact on
the health of a body which will not be good for their health. In the present time, when the people
are suffering from lot of issues in mental health then in this case it is important to provide them
the healthy and safe environment(Nelson and Ahn, 2018).
Changes in health related using vehicles less frequently
When the city will be made properly car-free then in this case the health of people will be
affected in a more better way. This means that as the pollution creates lots of problems to people
which covers providing them some ill-effects which will create them other problem(Hamad, Al-
Fadel and Fakhouri, 2020). Carbon pollution is created when there will be more vehicles on the
road then in this time people will be breathing harmful gases which are harmful for their health.
Those individuals who go outside regularly then they have to take the harmful gases which has
the chance of giving them lungs infection. Teenagers and the child are the most affected one
when coming to take the air from the environment. But if the vehicles will be used less
frequently then in this case people would be able to spend healthy lifestyle and the heart disease.
Chronic attack will also be reduced which are casued by pollution. (Crespí and Ramos, 2021).
The Environmental Impacts
Impacts on city carbon footprint and sustainability

When there will be higher amount of carbon footprints in the city then in this case the resources
will be depleted at a higher level. It is because of more vehicles coming on the road and also the
amount of new technology which are being used in the environment are creating the issue of
carbon footprint(CHAIBATE and et. al., 2019). The best way of reducing the effect of such
things is that the greenhouse gases impact has to be reduced so that it can provide the sustainable
environment to people. But the major impact will be created on the basis of reducing the cars on
the road because this can create a lot of impact to the environment. It is very important that the
carbon footprint effects are reduced and this can be done when the authority of a city will make
the decision of making the city car-free.
Impact on pollution and climate-
It is a fact that when there will be more vehicles on the road then it will mean that their will be
more pollution and emission of harmful gases. The reason for this is that as the vehicles run by
petrol and diesel then with this the chance of air pollution is more(Beanlands and et. al., 2021).
The harmful gases which is created including Black carbon and the methane which directly
makes an impact on the body of humans (Air Pollution and Climate Change, 2021). When there
will less vehicles on the road then in this case there will be less pollution and the climate will be
clean to breathe. It has a huge impact on the climate because less pollution will create less impact
on the body which in terms will make people more happier as no person likes to harm there body
with some or the other thing.
The environmental impacts of any construction work that is needed
There are several impacts which is created by the construction and the foremost is the emission
of carbon dioxide. They can also affect the wildlife on larger scale and roads will be extended
more by cutting the forest and trees. So it is very important that the construction work activities
involves environment friendly process which will be beneficial both to the environment and also
to the society. The most harmful and dangerous one is the use of heavy machinery in which the
mining projects are included. It is a product of gas which is created on the basis of burning the
gases and diesel. So it is very important that the construction work is made environment friendly

because it will otherwise create more problematic to the city (The Environmental Impacts of
Construction Projects and the Next Steps Forward for the Industry, 2021).
The Social Impacts
Public responses to the changes and impacts of this response on society
No individual will like to have that atmosphere in which they are not able to breathe in a proper
way and this is why the response of people for reducing the cars on road would be increased. It is
a fact that none of the individual would like to live in that society where they are not having
good environment to breathe(Ekpenyong and Agboke, 2021). This situation will not only make
an impact on the society but will also provide them better health. People are getting affected
because of the increased changes in the environment and this is created usually on the basis of
pollution increase. When the cities will be having less vehicles and this will directly make an
impact on the health.
Changes to the demographic of the area
The demographic mean that attributes which exist in the society or the different characteristics of
people which are existing in the society. There will be changes to the population when the
pollution will be reduced in the environment. Making a city car free will be the best strategy
which will be used by the authority as this will be highly helpful in the changing of demography.
Changes in crime rate and prevalent types of crime
It has been seen that most of the kidnapping takes place in the cars and the other issue which is
most prevalent is that stealing cars by the theifs. These two common problems exist in every city
because of the existence of cars in it and when this problem will be reduced then all the other
crimes which are existing in relation with cars will be reduced(Natalia, 2019).

Recommendations
The authority or government of that particular city can made it compulsory to use the
bicycles or any other vehicle which does not creates any sought of pollution and which
will help in creating the environment fresh. This will be the best way which can be
initiated by the government of that particular city in order to make it simpler for the
people to live and with this they can also provide them various benefits which will be
useful for the general public.
Campaigns and other promotional activity is the best way which can be used by the
organisation of that city to make a city-center car free. This is usually done to provide
more information about any of the step which is undertaken by the government of that
specific city. This can be the initiative which can be undertaken to educate the people
about why this step is undertaken(Trogden and Mazer, 2019).
Eco-friendly vehicles is the best step which can be taken on order to reduce the pollution
of that city. This will not only help people in getting the fresh and clean environment but
other then this it also helps them to remove all the diseases which is created by breathing
in a polluting environment.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that making a city centre care-free is a very
important step which will be taken by the authority of that country. The reason for making a city-
center car free is that the impact which it will be making on the people and to the environment
will be very positive. People would be able to live in a very healthy and breathable environment
and also the mental health will be improved in a more effective way. If none of the harmful
impact will be made on the heath then people can live for a longer life. Other than this, it also
makes an impact on the environment covering the reduction in carbon-footprints and will also
reduce the pollution. The social impact will also be made by taking such decisions in which the
demographic of a city will be changed and the chances of increase in crime rate which happens
in the form of kidnapping will also be reduced.
